See I'm optomistic and think this thread will get a bit too long as well LOL..

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 08/08/2006 00:41

It says no comments

Alipiggie · 08/08/2006 00:44

I left a comment too. They have to vet them first

twinsetandpearls · 08/08/2006 00:47

Have added my comment

twinsetandpearls · 08/08/2006 00:48

Ooh mine might not get on I was a bit rude about the Daily Mail which was a bit daft as I wanted them to publish my comment. Hope they wont sue me!

anthonykiedisbitontheside · 08/08/2006 00:51

independent article here

BadHair · 08/08/2006 00:55

I've added my comments on the Daily Mail site, which is not something I ever thought I'd hear myself say. Having just come back from holiday to find all this going on, I am now off to add my opinions anywhere else that will have me! I am utterly seething about this.

SaintGeorge · 08/08/2006 00:57

The Guardian has it, Page 12.

anthonykiedisbitontheside · 08/08/2006 00:58

guardian

Alipiggie · 08/08/2006 01:00

I'm hoping that the more comments that get added that the momentum will keep going. Never mind girlpower - mumpower will be the rally cry here. This site helped save my sanity many a time. I might not post that often, but it would be a very very bad day if Mumsnet got closed down

anthonykiedisbitontheside · 08/08/2006 01:00

Well said Aliepiggie

SaintGeorge · 08/08/2006 01:01

These are all big articles, most with colour pics of nobody of any interest whatsoever.

Eye catching though so not likely to be missed

Alipiggie · 08/08/2006 01:02

Used to be a journalist another life ago . So thinking about starting a campaign going from here (USA) Freedom of Speech well protected here. I'm so seething

twinsetandpearls · 08/08/2006 01:04

Wow this is getting some attention, I am sure there must be one or two people with regrets out there!

alexsmilitantmum · 08/08/2006 01:18

this is bloody brilliant! whats the saying? the hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world? something like that?
next time any of us are tempted to say 'oh i'm JUST a mum' i hope we all remember what has been achieved in a very short time on her e today.

i am so proud of everyone!!!!!

Alipiggie · 08/08/2006 05:17

Telegraph too Guessing the story got syndicated which is great news.

Alipiggie · 08/08/2006 05:20

Mother of all Websites But we knew that didn't we.

wannaBe1974 · 08/08/2006 06:29

hiya all

I had an email from mn hq last night requestion that the petition be changed somewhat to make it more clear that the freedom of speech should apply and that third parties should not be held responsible for the actions/comments of their members. I have therefore drafted a new petition which is

here

Apologies that the original one wasn't worded in a strong enough manner - hope this one goes some way better? (and spelt speech right this time, lol).

whimsy · 08/08/2006 07:10

Glad everyone's hard work paid off

piglit · 08/08/2006 07:39

I cannot believe that I have just posted on the Daily Mail website. I never ever ever thought I would do that. All in a good cause though.

Tinker · 08/08/2006 08:04

In teh Guardian

Tinker · 08/08/2006 08:05

And the Indie!

Belo · 08/08/2006 08:26

Just been on the Today programme on Radio 4!

I emailed Woman's Hour.

Tinker · 08/08/2006 08:29

Didn't realise I was late, was so excited at setting up google alerts yesterday and emailing anyone I could think of at the indie.

JoshuaandChloesmummy · 08/08/2006 08:33

This is FANTASIC!! Well done EVERYONE!

Whizzz · 08/08/2006 08:51

Well done to all the hard work that's gone into all of this.
I have just signed the new petition too

Moral of the story - Don't mess with a Mumsnetter
