See I'm optomistic and think this thread will get a bit too long as well LOL..

There has just been an statement by Voldemort in CH4 news, saying that she never requested to have the site closed the cheek of it!

Sadly , C4 have said that we mums should be more careful in the future about what we post, failing to mention that htere were only 30 posts that she complained about against thousands that are supportive and have nothing to do with it.

Blackduck · 08/08/2006 20:01

at the statement - I am not intending to shut the website down -so what do you call asking the ISP to disable it???!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 08/08/2006 20:05

wow - just had a quick read through here - was working last night, sleeping all day today and then in Cambridge - certainly looks like all your hard work is paying off - can't say "our" as all I did was start this new thread

PM on R4 also featured it - well done, Justine, btw. They mentioned a similar statement, made off air - no intention to close it down, blah blah.
Justine, hope you've managed to get a nice big glass of wine in by now. Thanks from all of us for all your sterling work today on just about every form of media in the UK.

It has just been mentioned in CH4 news but I have checked their site and there's nowhere to be seen.

WWW.... should we omit the name of She Who Should Not Be MEntioned?

WWWLutherKing · 08/08/2006 20:22

Chandra, maybe, maybe not but my post was not personal, asked a factual question. She cannot sue for that. AFAIK but I'm 99% sure I'm right about that.

Chandra · 08/08/2006 20:22

Hey! I didn't say the name!!!

Chandra · 08/08/2006 20:24

Isn't the name copyrighted???

Chandra · 08/08/2006 20:27

OK, statement said nobody never asked for this web site to be closed, but pointed out that Mumsnet had never been willing to compromise.

Nobody is saying lies here, but good thing is that the menace of closing the site has been lifted.

Am I going to be deleted this time? please tell me I'm not

morningpaper · 08/08/2006 20:30

The threat of closing the site down is if anyone pursues legal action.

If legal action is pursued, MN could not afford to pursue it, so the site would close down.

As long as the threat of legal action remains, the threat of site closure remains.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 08/08/2006 20:33

I thought that DSC who host this site, had been contacted a month prior to this, asking them to disable this site?

P.S. MorningP.... i'll quite happily join up to Hunkers wet nurse rota should you ever be whisked off to prison

VeniVidiVickiQV · 08/08/2006 20:34

Hmmm MP or Morningpaper, but not MorningP methinks

arfishymeau · 09/08/2006 04:39

OK, I've contacted the Australian Press (they always pick up UK stuff a bit later):

Sydney Morning Herald
The Australian
The Telegraph
Sydney's Child

There is some interesting legal precedent here about defamation/libel with online postings, so the media should pick it up.

suzywong · 09/08/2006 05:34

i shan't bother contacting The West Australian.

World news is generally on the bottom left hand corner of page 18, unless someone's cat got stuck up a tree then it could be way back on the 30s

arfishymeau · 09/08/2006 06:00

PMSL!

The Sydney papers are pretty good. I also think that Sydney's Child (and sister mags Brisbane's Child and the rest) will find this particularly interesting. They're always a bit feisty.

Oooh. I hope they publish. We are a global force indeed.

babyonboard · 09/08/2006 08:50

discussion

some interesting points have been made here!

babyonboard · 09/08/2006 08:51

including the comment ''From what I have read on the mumsnet website over the last 3 days since joining I was quite horrified, members telling newbies to f*ck off, calling them b!tches, ganging up on them and accusing them of being undercover spies for companies...its really b!tchy on that site'' lol

morningpaper · 09/08/2006 08:56

hehe sounds about right

CountessPanina · 09/08/2006 08:56
munz · 09/08/2006 08:56
  • at that comment thou. but I guess in light of all this the older members are a bit more cautios about the newer ones?? thought it was a bit unfair.
satine · 09/08/2006 08:58

Sounds like that person would prefer something like Babyworld. Much more fluffy and with such lovely tickers and cute little pictures. This is the parenting equivalent of hiding behind the bike sheds with the bad boys

mummyhill · 09/08/2006 08:59

I thought that comment was a bit unfair too as in the 12months or so I have been here I have very rarly come across anything like that. But then again that is the individuals opinion and they are entitled to it.

babyonboard · 09/08/2006 08:59

yep - quite unfair, but I often suspect some 'newbies' don't get the humour of some postings on here..
