See I'm optomistic and think this thread will get a bit too long as well LOL..

OP posts:
SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 08/08/2006 14:17

there's not an awful lot we can do about the rockets quote though- and the las thing we want is fpr m-netters to feel bad, we must continue to stick together on this

Anyway- surely a significant part of this issue is, just because a feud is occurring with regards to say 3 posts out of 10K a day, why would a nobody who generally concerned about parent welfare want to remove all the good things on MN? Nobodies self interest / self obsession is that huge

morningpaper · 08/08/2006 14:28

If it wasn't for the rockets quote it wouldn't be getting all the publicity

Not that I don't offer my unconditional apologies for the rockets quote of course

ToodlePip123 · 08/08/2006 14:41

Update here

fairyjay · 08/08/2006 14:46

The rockets comment is so obviously tongue in cheek, it makes anyone taking it seriously look ridiculous in my opinion.

Bibliophile · 08/08/2006 14:48

I think the rockets quote is bloody hilarious and adds hugely to the gaiety of the nation. Anyone who takes it remotely seriously needs a sense of humour transplant.

edam · 08/08/2006 14:54

Loved the package on BBC lunchtime news with Justine feeding her baby at home. Made the point about nobody harassing mothers very neatly.

Agree that the rockets quote shows how ridiculous nobody is being by threatening to sue over something so patently ludicrous. Like anyone is going to be influenced into believing she's firing babies into Lebanon!

JessaFreedomFighter · 08/08/2006 14:55

yep, rockets is such an amusing quote and SO obviously a joke that it is suitably attention grabbing fo rthe media, and, I really think, it can't really hurt is cos it is surely so clearly said in jest/tongue in cheek/satire that the fact that nobody is upset by it just goes to show the thinness of no one's skin...

Scoobydooooo · 08/08/2006 15:02

I have missed all the live coverage of this, so whos on next & what channel/time?

pattilou · 08/08/2006 15:41

Haven't managed to read all the posts, but just wanted to add my support to the many others and to say that I'd be happy to contribute to a fighting fund, if there is one.
You go, girls.

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 08/08/2006 15:42

If you leave a comment on the link below, they do actually post it.

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 08/08/2006 15:49

Loved this comment:

'I guess the moral of the story is don't fight the community that helped get you where you are. They're doing a good job of fighting back!'

Reece · 08/08/2006 15:50

AllieBongo · 08/08/2006 16:17

blimey, i missed all this, until I heard a startled cry from my husband downstairs... I ran down to see which child was wounded and bleeding and was confronted with "look, Mumsnet's on telly" loved the lunchtime report..Well done to you all. Now, how can I help, without having to read all 364 posts on this thread

fairyjay · 08/08/2006 16:19

Alliebongo
There's another 2,000 waiting for you!!!

AllieBongo · 08/08/2006 16:22

eh??? please humour me on this. I'm crap with technology

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 08/08/2006 16:25

Hi Allie

The best thing to do now is to look at the online versions of the papers that have stories (Telegraph Daily Mail Times and Guardian to start), and then do a letter to editor (online) for the Letters Page.

AllieBongo · 08/08/2006 16:26

consider it done ... well later when the beasts are in bed

So many threads about this, not sure where best to post this but just I'm so pleased to see this is getting the attention it deserves. Not that I've seen much as I'm at work but anyway, well done everyone!

AllieBongo · 08/08/2006 16:31

well, they will be tucked up later also, but about 10pm ish. I'll let you know

mummyhill · 08/08/2006 16:33

Had to point out to the handbag blogger that most of the negative reviews were actually posted before this started. Can't have us accused of sabotage as well.

littlemadam · 08/08/2006 16:35

Just wanted to add my twopennorth, well done everyone, Mumsnet is about more than just nobody...it has helped thousands of mums who have worries, queries, or just need to talk....is there a fighting fund?????
