Porny 'serve ad' pop up/web page opening from an MN thread.

AmberLeaf · 14/02/2014 20:22

I was just on a thread and a porn/hook up page opened up.

I have all the regular MN ads down the right side and the box that has ads that are generated by your own google searches.

Im using a laptop that is very new and that only I have access to. I know that sometimes these things happen because of the user search generated ads, but I can 100% guarantee I havent been on any sites like that! I may have 'clicked' on something on the page, this laptop mousepad sometimes 'clicks' on things as you slide your finger across rather than actually tapping on it.

Maybe this happened because of another website Ive visited, but I can't think of any sites Ive been on that would do that?

I can link the thread I was on and the page that came up if necessary.

It quite possibly is something to do with my laptop, but thought Id highlight it just in case it is MN related.

I've just had it open in a new tab - laptop, Firefox, Windows 7.

eatmydust · 18/02/2014 23:55

keeps opening in a new tab for me as well. Using Firefox. It is getting seriously irritating now.

ReadyToPopAndFresh · 19/02/2014 15:27

Also 3x now had smashyourfriends.com pop up! And I haven't clicked on any of the ads on MN it just shows up!

ReadyToPopAndFresh · 19/02/2014 15:28

firefox windows 8 here new lap top

ReadyToPopAndFresh · 19/02/2014 15:34

MNHQ at the risk of sounding a bit conspiracy theorist do you think it could be a hacker to do with your joining the No more Page 3 campaign? People supporting these kind of campaigns have had a lot of abuse and just wonder if it's a possibility? I mean it must be painful obvious to the people who own the page that they aren't going to make any money off MN. BUt some twunt might find it "hilarious" to stick a load of boobs up

AmyMumsnet · 19/02/2014 15:50

Ohh we hope not! We don't think that's what's going on, but once we get to the bottom of it we'll let you know (if we can) what's caused it.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 19/02/2014 17:22

Ready You're probably right, did we not used to get 4 trolling a lot? I remember a very funny porny book sounding one.

PigletJohn · 19/02/2014 18:19

I haven't had it, but have just added smashyourfriends.com to my "restricted sites" on infernet explorer (Tools, Internet Options, Security, click on the restricted sites icon, click on sites, paste in the address, click Add, click Close.

I sometimes get directed to odd sites on Facebook, but use Norton Internet Security which blocks most undesirable sites.

CaptainRex · 19/02/2014 19:47

I've had it happen a lot since Friday - again its Smashyourfriends site, opens up in a new tab - dont even have to be clicking a link, just scrolling down the page.

Am on firefox, windows 7 (and have run a full malawares, avast scan and ccleaner and they were all clear)

PigletJohn · 19/02/2014 20:50

that's a fishy site. It doesn't look anything special, it has a picture probably stolen from an underwear advert.

It looked up my town and outer postcode, perhaps from the IP address. It has lots of cookies on it, almost all of which I already block, although adroll.com (which is on my blocked list) managed to load a cookies, as did yahoo.com which I use for ordinary purposes.

I have added hookup.com to my restricted sites.

nemno · 19/02/2014 21:00

Still on Firefox and Vista (don't laugh) btw.

bluebump · 19/02/2014 21:01

I keep getting these too.

bluebump · 19/02/2014 21:02

I'm on Firefox I should say, not sure what version of Windows though, 7 I think.

GemmaTeller · 19/02/2014 21:10

I've just had it again

3across2down · 19/02/2014 21:14

This has happened twice to me tonight and my 19 year old DS now thinks I want to hook up with horny smashers! I'm not sure he believes me when I say it appeared while browsing MumsnetGrin

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 19/02/2014 21:41

I've just had one on here too, and I'm using a firefox/Windows 7 combo...

MarianneEnjolras · 19/02/2014 22:21

I've had this happen twice now too. First time I thought I must have a virus but I've checked my laptop and it's clean.

It's just happened again and I found this thread.

I'm using firefox & windows 7.

I was on active convos when this popped up:

www.smashyourfriends.co.uk/?page=x2&wm_login=mundo1&ps=p&type=soi&k1=CD10313&uid=7514ac29eabd81f913fe01eba75343e7&k2=

snice · 19/02/2014 22:22

just had another porn pop up window blocked when clicking to active convos

eatmydust · 19/02/2014 22:27

It has popped up again for me today whilst browsing Mumsnet. And much more worryingly the porn site knows my location - but my location details are disabled. MNHQ - are you providing location details to advertisers?????

cozietoesie · 19/02/2014 22:27

I haven't had anything so far this evening. It may be a coincidence but last night - for reasons unconnected with this thread - I reset Firefox on all the computers. (Takes about 2 minutes max and is easy peasy.)

lovestea · 19/02/2014 22:38

I just had it ........ again.

cozietoesie · 19/02/2014 22:40

Hah! I spoke too soon.

FluffyDucky · 19/02/2014 22:42

Just had it for the second time (1st time last week, closed it quickly thinking I had clicked on something by accident) I was in a thread and it just opened a new tab on firefox, no clicking etc.. not even a pop-up.
I'm guessing someone has embedded the code in MN talk or something technical like that?
Gah, I hope it is fixed soon!
