Porny 'serve ad' pop up/web page opening from an MN thread.

AmberLeaf · 14/02/2014 20:22

I was just on a thread and a porn/hook up page opened up.

I have all the regular MN ads down the right side and the box that has ads that are generated by your own google searches.

Im using a laptop that is very new and that only I have access to. I know that sometimes these things happen because of the user search generated ads, but I can 100% guarantee I havent been on any sites like that! I may have 'clicked' on something on the page, this laptop mousepad sometimes 'clicks' on things as you slide your finger across rather than actually tapping on it.

Maybe this happened because of another website Ive visited, but I can't think of any sites Ive been on that would do that?

I can link the thread I was on and the page that came up if necessary.

It quite possibly is something to do with my laptop, but thought Id highlight it just in case it is MN related.

i got a screen shot.. free naughty dating. I have to admit that the boobys don't really do it for me.

www.smashyourfriends.co.uk is the thingy.

HumphreyCobbler · 15/02/2014 21:55

I got this too.

MistressOfTheUniverse · 15/02/2014 21:56

I just got this too!

Yes, it was smashyourfriends

Fruitiest thing seen on my sole-use laptop Grin Usually it's Mn, BBC news, Twitter, FB, Buzzfeed, online shopping...

RenterNomad · 15/02/2014 22:08

I had a problem with popups recently, and it turned out to be an add-on to my browser that my DS had installed. I disabled the Ads By PassShow add-on (I think it was in the Tools menu, but am not on a PC at the moment to check), then found it installed in my Control Panel list of installed programmes.

Some MNers also recommended malwarebytes, which cleaned up some other bits and pieces.

cozietoesie · 15/02/2014 22:10

There's a clear message there.

Corral all DSs!

RenterNomad · 15/02/2014 22:18

Awww, cozie, he's not yet 6! He still thinks breasts are only for feeding babies. Smile

cozietoesie · 15/02/2014 22:22

Give it a couple of years and he'll be looking up sites for fast cars and bikes. (They look up those because they think it'll be OK on 'Mom's computer' - but the bad guys know their behaviour patterns real well so those sort of sites are loaded with naughties which can be easily downloaded.)

Vigilance, Renter, vigilance.

RenterNomad · 16/02/2014 10:15

Thanks for that. I imagine a child's own login/account is the way to go, although I'm not looking forward to it all...

24yearslivingnextdoortoalice · 16/02/2014 19:39

I got the pop up last night and again just now.

here it is

Apparently it will put me in touch with local horny girls who want to meet and smash Hmm I'd rather watch Dancing On Ice and have a choc digestive so think they're wasting time on me ...

AmberLeaf · 16/02/2014 20:26

Thats the one!

24yearslivingnextdoortoalice did it just pop up without you clicking anything too?

Thanks to your username, guess what I can't get out of my head now Grin

I got the smashyourfriends one popping up too.

Thought it was a virus, but my PC seems clear!

YippeeKiYayMakkaPakka · 16/02/2014 20:29

I just got something similar. A new tab opened up, something about 'horny smashers' Grin and lots of photos of topless women.

The cursor was over the left-hand side of the screen, not even near a banner ad or anything. Very odd.

cozietoesie · 16/02/2014 20:46

Neither of the ones I got were that one. I guess their website has lots of front pages though.

AmberLeaf · 16/02/2014 20:55

cozietoesie, yes the original page I got was slightly different. when someone said what the site was earlier I looked at it and it was another different front page then too.

ChineseFireball · 16/02/2014 21:20

I've just had it too. I usually have active convos open and right click - open in new tab (browser is firefox and OS is Windows 8 ) and piiiing. Boobies.

24yearslivingnextdoortoalice · 16/02/2014 21:22

AmberLeaf - yes it just popped up without me clicking on anything.

lovestea · 16/02/2014 21:43

I just got another one. Different from the last time, but same kind of format/picture. Smashmyfriends.com. Did not click on anything, It came up as a new webpage while on MN. I am the only one that uses this laptop, my firewalls and security all look safe and working, and I do not visit porn, unless you include recipe sites!

lovestea · 16/02/2014 21:44

I'm using Firefox.

AmberLeaf · 16/02/2014 21:45

Are we all using firefox? Im also on windows 8

MissieEverdeen · 16/02/2014 22:00

I've also just had "free naughty dating - smash your friends" open in a new tab when I pressed the back button on a Chat thread!

MissieEverdeen · 16/02/2014 22:02

Here's the URL

www.smashyourfriends.co.uk/?page=x2&wm_login=mundo1&ps=p&type=soi&k1=CD10313&uid=c3f1c0cbf71702de78cc9e45d9cb2012&k2=

Not impressed at all - running a full scan now

lovestea · 16/02/2014 22:08

I did a full scan too Missie. It did not show a problem. Why are these pop ups/new tabs happening? They are now logged in my laptop history which I am not happy about.

AmberLeaf · 16/02/2014 22:22

My anti viral thingy didn't show any issue either.

Ive had it again.
