Planned site outage, this Sunday at 10am (Don't panic Captain Mainwaring)

Hi all,

Tech has asked us to let y'all know that they will be tinkering in the backend on Sunday morning around 10am.

The site will be down for a while so they can do some essential maintenance and upgrades, hopefully not for too long.

Fear not, there will be no dramatic changes. We are just giving you a heads up that this is happening.

Oh I missed the downtime entirely. I though at about 9.30am this morning that I would clear out the dc's room while Tech was a-tinkering. They are 2 and 6 and their room just wasn't ready to accommodate the tat lovingly chosen and tastefully wrapped Christmas offerings which will rain down on them in a few weeks. So after packing them off to rugby, I went in armed with bin bags and cleaning products, a hoover and a thermos of tea.

Only it never quite works like that does it? I've ended up stripping the room of everything, throwing away all manner of bits of stuff and parts of things and plastic whatsits from Happy Meals and half coloured pictures and dust bunnies and rogue odd socks and I've decided to redecorate the room entirely before Christmas. I've just emerged 3 hours later, pale, shaking, worried and starving and found I needn't have bothered. You barely switched MN off and I was tricked into Epic Cleaning.

Lesson ruddy well learnt.

I think Tech has got so excited by having the freedom to take the site down without yelling for a short period that it's all got too much!

Best get used to it folks. I'm thinking it will likely be a weekly event now.

But I'd bet it feels good to have it done, Showy!

Is this why sometimes yesterday and today when I open a thread it's all teeny tiny inside?

Tee, it feels brilliant. I merrily chucked, recycled and charity-shopped bags of stuff. I thoroughly recommend it.

Um, Tech, is the outage why pictures aren't showing on profiles?

Always the way of things - fixing one item mucks up two different ones.

last 15 minutes, last hour etc not working for me . It takes me to a MN Local header with 404 error message - page not found

Hi, pictures on profiles should be working now. We'll look at the last 15 mins thing now.

Hi LIZS, can you check the URLs you are getting the 404 on. Do they start local.mumsnet.com? If so, put www. instead of local. in the address bar and it should fix it.

If that is the problem, where are you getting to them from? Are you clicking a link or is it a bookmark you have saved? Thanks mucho.

every time this site goes down i end up on amazon buying something!
