Planned site outage, this Sunday at 10am (Don't panic Captain Mainwaring)

Hi all,

Tech has asked us to let y'all know that they will be tinkering in the backend on Sunday morning around 10am.

The site will be down for a while so they can do some essential maintenance and upgrades, hopefully not for too long.

Fear not, there will be no dramatic changes. We are just giving you a heads up that this is happening.

Is it because you are all working on a big bubble of timey wimey stuff for the Who namechange winner?

I think they are all planning playing some sort of Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Drinking Game™ on Saturday night and are positive they'll all be too hung to do anything with the site.

So they are just shutting it down.

I have family visiting this weekend and now Mumsnet will be offline on Sunday? Fucksake, what am I going to do?

Oh ok, but it doesnt get turned off one minute before 10am ok?!, as Im on the morning shift and I am not prepared to sit from about 7am till 10 watching shitting clone wars.

We'll be decorating our Christmas tree that day (yes yes I know!!), but I sincerely hope that means the Christmas smilies will all be available when you're back! Horrible to feel all festive and have no Santa smiley!

Not Sunday! Noooooooooo! I visit the MIL from hell on Sundays and MN is all that stops me spending time/attention on her inane, racist, disablist and generally ignorant ramblings!

I shall be stood in the cold at Newark watching the rugby but as the site is offline so regularly it won't make much difference.

I wonder just how many MNers will end up scrolling through the sidebar of shame on Sunday instead because they can't think of anywhere better to go and its probably the most mentioned other site on Mumsnet?

Perhaps we should compile a list of worthwhile places to visit while we wait instead.
