I have reported it 3 times today, 1 before 9am.
Heard nothing from them.

OP posts:

Ok. And I bet you're very beautiful.

But I still think being called an ugly cow is a lot more upsetting than being called mad as a box of frogs.

Yes, we see that. But it's perfectly possible that others may say it's more upsetting to be called mad than ugly.

If we start getting into degrees of upset-ness, it would be a minefield.

Much simpler, and hopefully clearer all round, to have a blanket rule that all personal attacks, wherever they feature on anyone's personal scale of offensiveness, break our guidelines, and will be deleted when reported.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 14/11/2012 13:52

That makes sense, thank you.

While we're on the subject of personal attacks, could you go & look at this? It's the nastiest one I've seen in ages.

Already done.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 14/11/2012 13:55

AlienRefluxovermypoppy · 14/11/2012 16:50

Cheers for the clear up HelenMumsnet !!

OK so, OP your opinions of non existent racism/xenophobia, make you sound mad as a box of frogs Grin

showtunesgirl · 14/11/2012 17:40

Now I appreciate I have a cold addled brain at the mo but today I read this thread and yesterday the Canadian one and my head hurts. I've not been here that long. Is MN always this strange? Confused

MmeLindor · 14/11/2012 17:41

Thanks for that, Helen.

So have you had words with amillion to tell her to stop calling these two posters racist when they were only guilty of PAs?

HoneyDragon · 14/11/2012 17:42

Nope. Sometimes actual days can pass by where we all rub along nicely and no weirdness happens.

but then one of us gets bored and ruins it

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo · 14/11/2012 18:17

Thank you helen!

I have been saying "mad as a box of frogs" all day. And pissing myself laughing. Dh is a tad confused Blush

MrsWembley · 14/11/2012 19:52

showtunes, this is nothin'...

Just you wait 'til you catch a poo thread, or even a pus one.

Mintyy · 14/11/2012 20:22

Heh heh heh, just seen "mad as a box of frogs" used on another thread (I am sure perfectly legit one). Surely sum1 should report?

EmpressOfTheMadBoxOfFrogs · 14/11/2012 20:25
AlienRefluxovermypoppy · 14/11/2012 20:28

Twit Twoooo empress suits you!

EmpressOfTheMadBoxOfFrogs · 14/11/2012 20:31

GrinGrinGrin

showtunesgirl · 14/11/2012 20:44

Mintyy, I saw that too. My mouse was itching to report. Grin

Mmm, on thinking back on it, I've actually been here almost a year. So I guess I'm not all that new anymore?

EmpressOfTheMadBoxOfFrogs · 14/11/2012 20:48

Not that new at all, Show!

TiggyD · 14/11/2012 21:56

I like "Mad as a box of frogs". A real box of frogs isn't particularly mad, but it does conjure up a feeling of madness.
I also like "Gayer that a tree full of parrots".

showtunesgirl · 14/11/2012 22:40

Can we PLEASE have a frog emoticon? To be used when someone is being REALLY unreasonable and won't listen to reason? Grin

TiggyD · 14/11/2012 22:47

It would have to be a frog coming out of a box.

WrathdePan · 14/11/2012 22:53

Or..a frog actually boxing..with another frog. That would be funny.

EmpressOfTheMadBoxOfFrogs · 14/11/2012 22:53

I think it should be multiple frogs.

WrathdePan · 14/11/2012 22:55

A friend used to favour "As gay as a row of chiffon tents."

Mintyy · 14/11/2012 23:00

I like "camp as a row of tents" and use it occasionally. I reckon this is ok since 40% of my siblings are gay and I have a ton of gay friends due to theatrical past. But no doubt some crusading mumsnetter would say I am homophobic.
