MN allows racism to stand

amillionyears · 13/11/2012 14:50

I have reported it 3 times today, 1 before 9am.
Heard nothing from them.

OP posts:
HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 09:51

I've never ever checked a posting history. Who cba with that??

Fenton · 14/11/2012 09:58

But even if a poster had checked another's history and found they were French and decided to saying something that would be insulting to a French person THAT PHRASE WOULD NOT BE IT.

Those posters were not racist, xenophobic or any other ists or ics.

Really OP you are wrong about this and should apologise.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo · 14/11/2012 10:04

Fenton, exactly.

OP wont be back though. she's sulking in the corner trying to understand why she was unable to whip up outrage and vitriol.

until she finds something else to be offended by.

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 10:05

I bet she isn't.

She's genuine, she really does think things and then utterly stick to them. It's nothing more than that.

amillionyears · 14/11/2012 10:06

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1585981-posting-on-old-threads

Imperialstateknickers is on that thread

Some posters look through old threads, some dont.

OP posts:
amillionyears · 14/11/2012 10:07

Hully understands me.

OP posts:
amillionyears · 14/11/2012 10:08

Just to say, I probably wont be around much more till tonight.
If you search me, you will see that generally, Wednesday is my quietest day on MN.

OP posts:
BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo · 14/11/2012 10:09

but even if they did look back, the saying is NOT xenophobic

and dont say "hully understands me" like that makes it ok. you have accused posters and mnhq of being racist/supporting racism. you are wrong. if you can really read this thread and still think you are right, then, quite frankly Im worried about your state of mind.

Fenton · 14/11/2012 10:10

amillion what do you think that means then, about Imperial - genuine question as it's not clear to me what you have made of that.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo · 14/11/2012 10:10

and why would we search you?

SoupDragon · 14/11/2012 10:10

"Hully understands me"

quote: tenacious wrong end of stickness and inability to see it.

Yes, I rather think she does.

LtEveDallas · 14/11/2012 10:12

Fucking Hell amillion. Will you GIVE IT A REST.

You're like a fucking Jack Russell worrying a rabbit (and yes, OF COURSE I'm calling you a dog, a bully, a murderer and an animal abuser insert any other bollock you can misconstrue from that similie)

Ridiculous, bloody ridiculous.

Fenton · 14/11/2012 10:14

yes, I agree with Hully there, - amillion you do truly think you are right about this, but when a great many posters think otherwise and what you have accused people of here is quite hurtful can you not think again and even be prepared to consider that you are wrong?

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 10:17

I have to say amillion that if you aren't genuine, then you have the best wind-up-construct-persona I have ever come across and I take my hat off.

Pagwatch · 14/11/2012 10:18

I can understand a rather fixed or rigid mindset. I can understand your simply being unable to agree with the way others see things, amillionyears.

What I would genuinely ask you to do though is contemplate the effect of this when the thing that you are being fixed and rigid about is other peoples motivation.
On this thread you have persisted in calling other posters as having racist intent even though no one else believes that.
On Tees thread (refered to upthread) you accused me of bullying Tee.

I didn't bully Tee. Tee knew I did not bully her and no one else thought I bullied her either. Yet, as with this thread, you persisted.

Now I genuinely think you do not intend to be so incredibly offensive but that unfortunately is the net result.

Had it not been so absurd I could have been very upset at being branded a bully. Ditto those you accuse of racism on here.

So, if you refuse to be budged on the fact that the earth is flat, I don't really mind - it harms no one really.
But when you post about other beliefs and call them racist or bullying based on absoloutely nothing, that is potentially damaging.
So could you think about that a bit? because I often see you post and often agree with you. I think you try to be sympathetic and helpful. I don't really understand this blind spot you have.

CatWithKittens · 14/11/2012 10:22

There is a serious point here that MNHQ seems to have reacted to the allegation of racism and removed a post that was probably no more personally offensive than about 60% of the posts in debates on MN if all it said was that someone was a "mad as a box of frogs". Personally I find the use of foul language without any humour which is used by some but never even rebuked by MNHQ to be far worse but I would not dream of calling for any censorship except what one hopes the poster's own good sense will impose. Of course incitement to racial hatred or any other criminal act has to be restrained and prevented but surely MNHQ has to be a little more prepared to tell complainers to get real.

Fenton · 14/11/2012 10:22

So you have PROVED Imperial looks at old threads by linking to that ^ thread, but that doesn't mean to say she checks posting history of a specific poster - that is something entirely different to checking old threads for help with a problem.

And even if she was in the habit of checking posting history, - the discovery that someone is French bears no relevance to the phrase..

Oh I give up now.

Fenton · 14/11/2012 10:27

And while we're at searching posts, a very quick check of Imperial's many posts she has only ever had two deleted - the ones you reported.

So that proves that she is not in the habit of making racists slurs on other posters.

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 10:32

Oh yy Paggy, I had forgot that one.

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 10:33

Also I agree with the serious point.

I think MNHQ are tending to delete posts for a quiet life.

I was deleted for homophobia DESPITE explaining satire etc on the sodding thread in question

Pagwatch · 14/11/2012 10:33

It's etched on my brain. Next to dragonbutter.

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 10:36

The one where I learnt about dear amillion was the calling women girls thing...

tethersend · 14/11/2012 10:39

"Hully understands me"

That's a damning indictment of anyone's state of mind if ever I've heard one Grin

I was once deleted for racism for saying that another poster's (who was being racist) wit shone like a burning cross on a lawn.

I think satire is against the guidelines. It bloody should be. It's not France.

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 10:40

huh.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 14/11/2012 10:40

This thread is bloody mad...

These comments were racist - er no they weren't
Well these posters are racist - er no they aren't
Well I think they are, won't listened to any reasoned argument you can all fuck off.
Actually I'm not sure what racism is so I'll do some research - but I'm still right.

Grin nice one op.
