I, too, am late to the party.

I had never heard of the phrase until I met DP. He uses it frequently and, though slightly panphobic, has never used it in the context the OP is suggesting.

Chickens eat worms and slugs and things (oh and frogs and mice if they get a chance). And they are very brave (not really but it suits my point) so no calling scared people "chicken" or I'll report chickinistic tendencies.

Yes it means scared of everything and as my DP is a perfectly lovely bloke who is ever so slightly inward looking and is a little about anything that doesn't fit into his perfectly normal life, I feel it fits him.

If I ever thought he was using that phrase to be xenophobic I'd call him on it. He's not, so I don't.

I've seen people asking MNHQ for a 'hide poster' button so they can hide everything posted by an individual.

I don't want that, but I would like to be able to add my own (private) comments to posters' names - so that when I wave my cursor over amillion's name a little box saying 'frogs' would appear.

It would help me to remember which posters to take seriously.

Can I just ask, did the woman making the original post in the other thread (does that even make sense?!) actually get offended to the frog comment? Looking at the other thread though, she posted just to say mumsnet was crap. Not the best way to start a thread to make friends......

I'm a bit late, but thanks blame for replying to me earlier, and also hully for explaining amillion's posting style (iykwim). I thought I was missing something, but it's just amillion being stubborn, phew!

I sometimes check posters' history, mainly to fill in any gaps on my spreadsheet.
