"This is a wind up" was acceptable in the olden days.

But not now.

There's been a few threads recently where the OP was not about begging, emotional vampires, beyond the pale stuff and that ilk.

Just stuff, that if you were having a conversation with your mates, you'd express incredulity.

Why can't these comments be left to stand, rather than a reflex actoin of just zapping them?

Surely there's a difference between a "you've gotta be kiddin" and trill hunting?

Please, please take each comment/thread as a separate case, I really think there's a danger of spoiling the boards with this eagerness to eradicate any implucation of doubt.

I loathe AIBU.

it makes me rageful

SuperB0F · 10/09/2012 14:47

The biggest shame about the school finishing time rage thread being deleted was losing bruxeur's genius riposte:

Whoa! That's, like, really appalling! Does anyone else get, y'know, really ragey about the bear poo littering the woods these days? Read all about how this makes me special on my blog www.popecatholicfuckinghell.com.

Trills · 10/09/2012 14:48

:o

Thank you for preserving that for posterity BoF

I have discovered "Desperado" Tequila flavoured bottled beer and am ever so slightly in love Grin

Ah man, I have one important deadline and my head goes down all morning and I miss everything!!!!!!!!

Granted, I was making money...but I hate it when my career interrupts my MNetting time!!

Also, I agree with Chaos. The deletions have been OTT lately. And I never think that.

Trills · 10/09/2012 14:57

It's their website and they can do what they like

Not quite as pithy as TSSDNCOP, but true.

BlameItOnTheCuervo · 10/09/2012 14:59

That taxi rank thread needs to go in to classics.
It's very funny.
And even though the Op left, someone coincidentally stepped in that totally agreed with her, which was A Good Thing. Wink

Bah.

Just once, I would like a thread to be taken seriously.

OP posts:
LadyBeagleEyes · 10/09/2012 23:38

I'm taking you seriously Chaos.
Um, what was your point again?

GoingBlankAgain · 10/09/2012 23:41

oh the irony, a thread talking about zapping a chaos has her computer problem again Grin

ChaosTrulyReigns · 10/09/2012 23:43

Trigger happy, LBE.

That's what I'm saddened about.

I agree. They are trigger happy.
The thing is, what are we going to do about it?
Eh, Eh?

GoingBlankAgain · 10/09/2012 23:55

At least it was just the one 'grwol' Chaos Wink

ChaosTrulyReigns · 11/09/2012 00:00

Friutless whinging and moaning, LBE.

They're raising eyebrows as we speak over ThatNaggyChaosAgain.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/09/2012 00:24

I love a good Chaos thread! They always make me feel all warm and giggly inside! Grin
FWIW, I think you are probably right. But then MN has gone all weird recently anyway! Sad

I kinda thought the reason MNHQ have been simply deleting any 'troll hunting' type posts now is because legitimate posters have been accused of being trolls a lot lately, and members have been leaving over it etc.

Plus I'd be really angry if someone accused me of being a troll, I'd end up getting aggressive, someone would get aggressive back, bunfight ensures, and the actual point of the OP isn't addressed.

Also sometimes the people behind the screen can be quite fragile and may be seeking out help in the only place they have/feel comfortable to ask etc.

Iunno. I think it's better with no troll hunting. I just wish if a poster does a truly cruel troll post (you know the kinda threads...AIBU to think paedophilia is the same as homosexuality? Etc) longstanding member or not, they get a temporary ban. That way I can be satisfied I controlled the urge to pick up my pitchfork.

The sillier wind ups like the Taxi Rank thread are amusing though.

P.S. I just made up my example so if there actually has been a AIBU about that, sorry! Blush
