I feel like part of the problem is the MNHQ's definition of troll seems to differ from the rest of the internet.

As far as I am aware a troll is someone who posts things just to start a fight/offend. Not just someone not being 100% honest. So it isn't troll hunting to point out someone isn't being honest as you aren't attributing troll like behaviour to them.
