Are your thoughts turning to 2012 yet? What sort of New Year resolutions will you be making? To be healthier, glammier, thriftier, greener, nicer, wiser? None of the above?

Thank you in advance for any posts. Xmas Smile

I need to be nicer and thinner. And more patient. And to work harder at my paid job.

Erm, not sure how achievable that all is but for the sake of my family, the being nicer thing has to be done.

stressheaderic · 21/12/2011 19:14

To be more bloody organized and not do every thing at the sodding last minute

To spend less time on Mumsnet and actually get my ironing done rather than letting the pile build up to gargantuan proportions

PreHeatedOven · 21/12/2011 19:35

To learn to use my sewing machine really well.
To get my book club going and it be a success.
To have date nights every month with DP
To stay at my current weight which I worked bloody hard to achieve. Such a shame mince pies and Baileys aren't fat free Sad
To not be talked into keeping contact with my toxic grandparents. I have been a responsible adult for too long to be belittled by the vile buggers.
To continue getting my head and back fixed.

Not many for me this year Grin

Svrider · 21/12/2011 20:33

Mine are stopping having so much month at the end of the money
Take kids to park rather than kicking them onto back garden
Have brought 3 scooters for xmas to this end

ahhyesiseeyouvepooedonsanta · 21/12/2011 21:06

Get tidier so DH doesn't leave me to my dust mite circus and also sell some cakes by fair means or foul Xmas Wink

SantasHat · 21/12/2011 21:13

Only just joined this thread so have not had time to read many posts.
I would like to WORRY LESS and maybe even enjoy life more. Xmas Wink

Wigeon · 21/12/2011 21:20

Get a new job which is at least as well paid as my current job, as interesting, which develops my career, has sensible hours, sensible commuting distance and where I can work 3 days a week (possibly in a job share). So should be a sinch! Grin

aStarOverMangerways · 21/12/2011 21:33

Keep off the weight that I have mysteriously managed to lose since being pregnant.

Get a story published.

Visit my best friend who lives abroad for a long weekend of rebonding over booze.

More real life, less divving on the internet.

SantasHat · 21/12/2011 21:33

wigeon Can't you team up with someone on MN who will be able to jobshare? Yes, I know it's long odds but worth a shot maybe? Xmas Wink

Wigeon · 21/12/2011 21:41

Good idea!

Anyone want to jobshare with me? I am very nice Xmas Smile!

Actually, my new year's resolution isn't too crazily out of reach - I'm a civil servant and jobshares aren't unheard of (in fact I went on my current mat leave having just jobshared with a lovely woman but for various reasons we might not be able to keep doing it).

Xenna · 21/12/2011 22:05

This year's resolutions will be to start exercising again, get out of the house more and do more fun things with DH and DD!

WhatsWrongWithYule · 21/12/2011 22:15

I intend to have a really good crack at sorting out my back problems, focussing on exercises and stretches to make myself comfortable again after 17 years of discomfort/pain.
Also to finally sort out my house, de-cluttering and decorating.

Jojay · 21/12/2011 22:41

To get back to my pre-having-twins weight.

To have an income, however small or irregular, earned by me.

PrettyCandlesAndTinselToo · 21/12/2011 23:59

I make the same NY resolution every year, it is the only resolution I ever make, and, what's more, I always keep it.

My resolution is not to make any NY resolutions.

Worst time of the year for resolving to change!

Slainte · 22/12/2011 00:25

To get pregnant!
Also to have one night out per month with DH.

poppyandsneeze · 22/12/2011 07:30

I want to loose weight for 2012.

I also want to manage the household budget for 2012 - so we don't spent 2012 worrying about money.

Chandon · 22/12/2011 07:35

to find a brand new career that fits in with kids, and with DH being away a lot....

dream dream dream

WifiNappies · 22/12/2011 08:11

Tone up my post-baby body

Go out and meet people more (whilst on mat leave but also generally)

Have a smear test Blush It's GOING to happen now I've finally registered with a GP

liveinazoo · 22/12/2011 08:30

try organize myself a bit better and make a bit of time for me

aStarOverMangerways · 22/12/2011 08:57

oh, i have another one: take more video footage of the kids. i was always a bit 'bleh' about the idea but have just been watching some random footage i found of DS as a chubby 18 month old and it was just lovely :) DS also enjoyed it, from the lofty heights of being 3.

Tuppenyrice · 22/12/2011 10:35

I'm trying to be in the present more and enjoy my kids while they're young. I've learned from mumsnet users of older kids how fleeting it is. So, despite the sheer relentless drudgery that it can bring, I will try to hold them close and relish their sweetness.
Happy new year one and all.Smile

Emmac50 · 22/12/2011 11:11

I want to better manage my money and learn to love myself. Hopefully when that's sorted I'll lose all my weight and be nicer etc etc Wink

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 22/12/2011 11:59

pay off cc
save
loss weight, starting with cutting out choc

XmasFayreToMiddlin · 22/12/2011 12:41

I like to think of goals to achieve by the end of the year rather than resolutions to start the New Year with.

January is absolutely the wrong month to want to give up things you like - it's miserable enough as it is and we need our comfort things around us.

So instead of saying "I will start dieting/give up smoking/stop drinking on New Years Day" just say "I will lose x amount of weight, have given up smoking, reduced my drinking by the end of 2012".

You are much more likely to succeed. Smile

BarfTheHeraldAngelsHeave · 22/12/2011 12:58

My new years resolutions are as follows:

  1. Extend my earplug wearing from just overnight to other times when I need to drown out annoying noise, such as my one-to-ones with my staff, quality time with my DH and any events that include the words "family" and/or "fun".
  1. Overcome my lack of musical talent to write a catchy Christmas pop song that takes off in the charts and then is played ad-infinitum yearly to bring in a regular income. Bask in the knowledge that its pissing off millions of people at the same time as making me very rich.
  1. Find a way to make a living from posting on Mumsnet so I can do my job without worrying about getting my ass fired for posting on Mumsnet.
