has it always been there? or has it moved? and does that mean if someone 'likes' that thread it will be posted to their fb page?

Dear MNHQ I just 'liked' this thread to test it out - I got the pop up box, selected 'cancel' or whatever, but didn't select 'post to facebook' but lo and behold it posted to FB anyway. Could you explain this please?

I'm really uneasy about my anonymous MN posts being mixed up with RL facebook. Not happy at all.

I'm a bit fed up with everything being linked to FB now - I really liked that MN didn't :(

BlissfulMistletoe · 15/12/2011 17:56

i think this new feature is dangerous, there is relationship fourm which members talk about DV, mental heath ect.

it takes alot for members to post these thread and some maybe scared off posting because it can be linked on facebook.

reelingintheyears · 15/12/2011 17:57

If i start a thread and someone likes it does the whole thread show up on FB and can i request that my threads don't have a like button attached?

Will every topic have this attachment or only less sensitive ones?

StupidLikeButton · 15/12/2011 18:00

[no twirl...just a stamp of my foot]

Blissful is right...people post sensitive things in chat here...I know they culd g to other topics but they don't always want that...sometims they want to chat...but people could be recognised on FB...from details...people could also go back and like really old threads...I have put things on here which are VERY sensitive and I am afraid of that happening.

Look what you've done MNHQ. I was all festive and Christmassy before...

MardyStropAboutLikeButton · 15/12/2011 18:04

Namechanged again. Wasn't sure if it was grammatical before.

With all that stamping, I can't think straight.

tralalala · 15/12/2011 18:04

cervix - tbh don't post anything on the web that makes you recognisable in rl, you don't know who goes on mn. There is a mum at school taht I recognised on her due to a scenario she laid out, I now know all about her teenage sons sex life after unintentionally reading a thread then realilsing it was posted by her. Bleugh.

ThisPaleBlueLineIsMineAllMine · 15/12/2011 18:06

Anyone else just looked at their Fb wall to see if they have any RL friends that are MNers? - that are testing this function out?

See the problem??

StupidLikeButton · 15/12/2011 18:07

They won't take it off you know...it's all about da money da money da money!

Liluri · 15/12/2011 18:09

Daft idea.
FB and MN shall ne'er coexist and entwine snugly in my world.
Harrumph!

MardyStropAboutLikeButton · 15/12/2011 18:09

Stupid - can I call you Stupid? You're right. It's all about generating traffic to increase advertising revenue. But MNHQ has listened to concerns before about Nestle advertising for example. I'm just hoping they will listen to this thread.

CarolCervix · 15/12/2011 18:10

MN is an outlet for ranting about real life - to stop me actually raving in real life.

What about asking for advice? about health? or behaviour? or money? If i wanted to ask real people I would. Sometimes a variety of opinions from strangers is beter than real life.

(Who are you normally Stupid? If that's not invading your privacy, of course).

CarolCervix · 15/12/2011 18:14

also is it terribly cynical of me to wonder why MNHQ initiated the 'Like' button at 17.30 just as the office day is done and nobody is around to reply or remove said button?

BoffinMum · 15/12/2011 18:14

I am fine with them making a bit of money but only if they avoid treating us like products. At the moment I am feeling like a product.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 15/12/2011 18:15

MNHQ - why has this been done?

queenrollo · 15/12/2011 18:15

i'm just popping my head round the door to have my two pennorth.

I'm not happy about this either. Please get rid of it MNHQ. I'm sick of FB infiltrating every bloody corner of the internet.

MN Towers have just turned into a bunch of social networking sheeple over this one.

MardyStropAboutLikeButton · 15/12/2011 18:16

Grin. We could call you SLB or Slob!

MardyStropAboutLikeButton · 15/12/2011 18:17
