We're very excited that an early copy of the Mumsnet Rules has arrived at the Towers and looks marvellous we think. The Rules contains all the wit and wisdom we've garnered from Mumsnet Talk over the years and its goal is the goal of the Rules is make you into the person you would be if you had had two or three children to practise on before the ones you actually have. Here's the foreword.

So please, please tell everyone you know, pre-order many copies, and generally bore on about it to friends, relations and complete strangers.

ps You can get a sneak preview in the Sunday Times today and again next Sunday and more about.

"DP and I were discussing almost exactly this last night - we are going to be amazing marginally more relaxed parents because we have already seen it all on MN."

ROFL, it doesn't work like that...

Another one who doesn't like the idea of the "rules", especially as there is no such thing as a generic mumsnet rule, it makes you the same as SWMNBM.

You saw the crossing-out right? So the bit that was left said marginally more relaxed. :o

At the very least if someone in RL says that something is absolutely essential and the baby will be scarred for life if we don't do XYZ (co-sleeping vs putting in own room, for example) we will be a bit more relaxed through knowing that some MNers argue the exact opposite, and most consider it not a big deal either way.

I was a brilliant nanny and thought I would find being a mum easy...

Any idea when it will be available on the Kindle?

Hi all

Sorry for the delay, but good news, it will be available as an ebook - available for every kind of book reading device going (or so I'm told) and that includes the Kindle.

It will come out at exactly the same time as the book (6th June) so not only will you be able to thumb through, finding out who's in it, you can search away too.

Gosh, the branding/marketing of that Rules book looks very clever. I bet it will sell like mad.

Neither do I lenin. I'm just basing it entirely on how appealing the branding looked to me.Grin

So if they are aiming the marketing at women that it's too late for and who would hate the actual product anyway, then they've hit their demographic spot on.Grin

Perhaps I wouldn't hate it, I don't know; but it does look a bit like those things they have by the checkout at Waterstones -- 101 Things to Do With Cats and such like.

Just reserved it from my local library. They've got four copies on order. I don't know if this indicates they're expecting a flood of mummies to flock in to borrow it, or is four actually a low number Hmm?

You won't be sorry!
The hard part will be that you can't boast to RL friend that it is YOU in the book, for fear of outing yourself!
