We're very excited that an early copy of the Mumsnet Rules has arrived at the Towers and looks marvellous we think. The Rules contains all the wit and wisdom we've garnered from Mumsnet Talk over the years and its goal is the goal of the Rules is make you into the person you would be if you had had two or three children to practise on before the ones you actually have. Here's the foreword.

So please, please tell everyone you know, pre-order many copies, and generally bore on about it to friends, relations and complete strangers.

ps You can get a sneak preview in the Sunday Times today and again next Sunday and more about.

Just got my copy ordered into the local library yesterday and I'm already halfway through. It's a wonderful reflection of the tone of the best posts on the site. Gives the right balance of points of view. The writing style is excellent and the tone one of an intelligent friend sharing their knowledge and experience: it's such a pleasure to not be patronised. I'd like to bet that this is the first parenting book to use the word neologism Wink. (See page 94).

Must get a copy. I'm in the Babies book under an old name. Sadly I can't swank about it in RL cos I'm moaning about my MIL Hmm

I'm in it squeal!
That's the main thing obviously but now I am reading it and really enjoying it.
And it's purple, that's the second main thing.
Will put a review on amazon if I can.

I can't get my hands on it. My husband is reading my copy (well, copy borrowed from library). From his facial expressions and array of noises I'd say he's enjoying it a lot.

I'm loving the book except I'm on the 'don't buy a Moses basket' chapter and notice a recommendation for aqueous cream for newborns - its not actually recommended for infants, it can make their skin worse, as we discovered!

This book is brilliant! So funny and heart warming. It is really honest and has made me feel better after reading some other old school and patronising parenting books. Grin

I'm not sure an upside-down copy will sell well - I bought a text book that had its cover on upside down for 50p, as a second. Doubt it's going to be any kind of collectable any time soon! Grin
Of course, it's not anywhere near as desirable as the MN Rules though...
