Unwelcome visitors - and recent "unpopular" threads

Hello

We thought you should know that we've had a few "visitors" lately who have, collectively, been hellbent on stirring up bunfights on the boards.

They're not your average hairy trucker/bored schoolboy/silly perve but a group from another (now defunct, it seems) forum.

They were behind the Unpopular Opinions thread - and a fair few other threads that have kicked off recently.

We're on the case.

But we would appreciate your help with "Hoovering" up any visitors our Ban button may have missed.

So do report any suspicions using the Report link, and we promise to check 'em out - though it make take us a while

Many thanks, MNHQ

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 11:46

What a bummer Mouse nothing worse than having your house wrecked, even if it is in a good cause Smile

Memoo · 11/02/2011 11:48

Ted Heath, the dead Tory, has a MN list??

You're just messing with my head now aren't you?! Grin

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 11:52

Yep Memoo but Hully is the one in the know, so to speak [tapping side of nose emoticon]

Mouseface · 11/02/2011 11:59

Memoo - I think Hully is channeling him into MN.

Afternoon Red Squirrels.

I hear Paris is lovely at this time of year.

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 13:00

I love Paris [sigh with longing emoticon]

falsemessageoflethargy · 11/02/2011 13:17

I'd like to point out that I hsve had at least 3 rucks with Afs earlier named poster in the last 3 weeks and noone has taken a blind bit of notice (apart from Posie who she also had a fight with).

Have you seen the swans on the river?

Oh Mouse Paris is my favourite city of all. I'd love to go in the spring time. Are there swans on the river in Paris, how adorable.

bibbitybobbityhat · 11/02/2011 13:31

Is anyone prepared to have an even slightly serious discussion with me about this thread?

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 13:32

Sure bib I think we're all just killing time until someone comes up with something to actually talk about Wink

What do you want to talk about?

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 13:34

Oh hang on.....what's this thread about again Confused

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 11/02/2011 13:35

Wassup bib?

Mouseface · 11/02/2011 13:35

Smile bib yes.

RIZZ0 · 11/02/2011 13:37

Yes, I saw the swans on the river. They seemed restless, I think they may be moving to another destination

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 13:38

Just checked the thread title again.....go for it bib Smile

bibbitybobbityhat · 11/02/2011 13:38

Well. I think I've got the gist.

But are these visitors actually trolling?

Aren't they just doing what we as Mumsnetters do all the time anyway?

I have seen countless unpopular opinions, who do you like/don't you like threads on Mumsnet where posters rip each other to pieces. As my esteemed colleague Springheeledjack pointed out just up the thread.

I don't really understand why they have been banned.

Some of the most provocative and questionable threads I have seen on MN recently have been started by regular "old names" and I don't think they have been banned?

Am not sure what MNHQ have achieved by banning these so-called trouble makers. We seem to be able to make plenty of trouble amongst ourselves Grin.

To sum up: do we accept that some posters post on other forums or not? And if not, why not?

Ta.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 11/02/2011 13:41

I assume that the recently banned posters have been playing dirty, bibs. Certainly meantosay/swanandduck were one and the same poster. I don't think newbies are being banned unless MNHQ have evidence that they are using multiple names/ave been previously banned etc. I think

stripeywoollenhat · 11/02/2011 13:46

em, speaking for myself, i am working with the assumption that at least a few of you are hairy bollocked truckers (though not AF, she identified herself as lady further up this thread) and regular posters on fora far less salubrious than this one, and i'm okay with that, given that i don't actually have to know anybody here, and that i am a grown up, and an insensitive one at that.

as for the shit stirring - well, there are those folks everywhere, no?

stripeywoollenhat · 11/02/2011 13:47

a lady, not actual gentry or anything

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 11/02/2011 13:48

True, stripey. I am a member of several other forums. I always assumed that most forum users would belong to more than one.
