Unwelcome visitors - and recent "unpopular" threads

Hello

We thought you should know that we've had a few "visitors" lately who have, collectively, been hellbent on stirring up bunfights on the boards.

They're not your average hairy trucker/bored schoolboy/silly perve but a group from another (now defunct, it seems) forum.

They were behind the Unpopular Opinions thread - and a fair few other threads that have kicked off recently.

We're on the case.

But we would appreciate your help with "Hoovering" up any visitors our Ban button may have missed.

So do report any suspicions using the Report link, and we promise to check 'em out - though it make take us a while

Many thanks, MNHQ

They've followed you over here then, LeQueen. Perhaps give HQ any details you remember? They have form with starting threads about posters they believe to be popular, with the aim of waiting for the inevitable naysayer, then enjoy watching a scrap unfold. It hasn't been just you either .

LeQueen, I am sure I have seen you say on MN that that photo was an old one, so they may not be from your last forum.

I think when the Nags Head posters have tried to start a bitchfest about 2 posters (Lequeen and AN other) it backfired spectacularly. You both came out of it rather well, them, erm, not so much (especially on your thread).

ImeldaSnowboots · 10/02/2011 10:30

AIBU to think there are still lots of 'unwelcome visitors' around? Lots of threads still seem a bit suspicious Hmm

onimolap · 10/02/2011 10:31

I'm still newish, and have found myself hiding so many threads recently - so I've not much idea which have been vanishing.

I've just been reporting, for hoovering up, some others that stuck in my mind. I wonder which, if any, might vanish?

ShirleyKnot · 10/02/2011 10:31

YANBU Imelda. It's doing my swede in.

scurryfunge · 10/02/2011 10:31

Yes, Imelda I have reported one. I think they are still lurking.

onimolap · 10/02/2011 10:40

Scurryfunge: wonder if we've been doing the same? Not just weird/provocative content, also OP or difficult poster who has only been around since the start of this month.

scurryfunge · 10/02/2011 10:44

yep, I am guessing the same one.

AbsDuCroissant · 10/02/2011 11:00

So is it safe to come back yet?

Oh wait, no. Sadly, the stuff I had beef with was not involving invaders but long standing MNers

I was stating an opinion on your treatment of another poster.

So it's a personal attack to think that another person in a bully in relation to one person? Oh FFS.

Exactly - so you agree it was an opinion and not a personal attack. Unless MN has started going into mind policing, but I doubt it.

Anyway, I'm buggering off again anyway. This place does my head in.

freshmint · 10/02/2011 11:14

I didn't see them on that lovely farrow and ball thread the other day. They could have caused havoc. Imagine. "Elephant's breath is shite and people who use it are chavs"

Oh the horror

You've had elephants breathing on your walls LeQueen? How do you get them through the front door? Are they little ones? [winks]

Aitch · 10/02/2011 11:43

we have elephant's breath... and mouse's back, iirc. and borrowed light. not stolen. borrowed.

cakeywakey · 10/02/2011 11:48

Going to give it back at some point then Aitch? Wink

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/02/2011 11:56

I knew it - I started a thread saying 'has this place been infiltrated by wankstains' or summat a couple of weeks ago.

So, MNHQ, you say that another forum is now defunkt (sp?) and all of those people are now coming over here starting contentious threads and stirring it all up?

That other forum wouldn't be moldies, by any chance?
