UPDATED Essential maintenance

YetMoreTech · 04/02/2011 15:36

We're going to be doing some essential maintenance on Sunday morning. The site may well be offline for a short time, starting around 10am, but we'll keep it to a minimum. If for any reason "a short time" starts turning in to a longer one, you'll be able to get updates by looking at Mumsnet on twitter, which you can find at:

twitter.com/mumsnettowers

For the technically minded (and this would only impact them, so don't worry - if you're not sure if this is relevant to you, it isn't!) we're going to be changing the IP address of www.mumsnet.com. We will of course be updating our name servers to point at the new address, but if you do anything funky with the IP address you'll have to update after we've made the change.

[cup] in preparation

winnybella · 06/02/2011 10:03

So how long will it take? Couple of hours? Longer?

magna · 06/02/2011 10:04

Can I join you lissie [cup]

nannynick · 06/02/2011 10:05

due to an administrative cock-up by the people that own the building in which our servers are located

Wonder if that means that the person who was opening up has realised they have left the keys at home!

BelleDameSansMerci · 06/02/2011 10:09

No rush...

ChaosTrulyReigns · 06/02/2011 10:51

You're back.

nannynick · 06/02/2011 10:52

That was quick.

LadyPumpington · 06/02/2011 10:54

No don't, no really don't...

YetMoreTech · 06/02/2011 10:57

We're back, but it's not finished yet. More news soon. As you were, for now.

SecretNutellaFix · 06/02/2011 11:24

quick?

I haven't been able to get on all blooming morning!

NormanTheForeman · 06/02/2011 11:26
BecauseImWorthIt · 06/02/2011 11:31

ooooh - it's very quick now!

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/02/2011 11:31

Turning it off and turning it back on again has obviously made a big difference, YMT

MmeLindt · 06/02/2011 11:55

Oh. That was almost disappointing. Only had time to cycle to beach (stopping three times to yell at son for dangerous cycling).

giraffesisonadiet · 06/02/2011 12:10

This is like the millenium bug, we all prepare and wait for it (I was at the gym for an hour and a half this morning ffs) and nothing happens. Apart from the adverts vanishing and occasionaly double, or even tripple posts that seems to be it so far...

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 06/02/2011 12:25

Giraffes - can I steal half an hour of your workout? I haven't been today and really can't be bothered - a half hour would make me feel a little better and you'd still have your hour!

I wonder if that means we'll be 'off' later as well??

LadyP - no it was just a back up plan in case, one day, MN went POOF into a cloud of black smoke!!

GentleOtter · 06/02/2011 13:02

Is anyone else getting the attack site warning on many threads? It is driving me crazy.

LadyPumpington · 06/02/2011 13:03

Chipping yeah like that will ever happen it will probably be resurrected the next day by an irate bunch of mums and will be called 'mums will never be taken down' or some such nonsense.

YetMoreTech · 06/02/2011 13:05

GentleOtter - we're not aware of that. Certainly I'm not seeing them. Could you email a screenshot to tech? That's @mumsnet.com of course.

Is anybody else getting these?

OP posts:
GentleOtter · 06/02/2011 13:14

Can you give me the full email address please, Tech?

nannynick · 06/02/2011 13:27

GentleOtter, try using [email protected]

YetMoreTech · 06/02/2011 13:31

I've had an email from GO. Thanks.

Is anybody else seeing "attack site warnings"?

OP posts:
LadyPumpington · 06/02/2011 13:39

Everythings fine on this end thanks, no problems at all.

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 06/02/2011 13:57

Mine is fine too.

TrillianAstra · 06/02/2011 13:59

Attack site warnings again?

No, not seeing them. (And I have turned the thingy back on after last time when I told firefox to just shut up about it)
