UPDATED Essential maintenance

We're going to be doing some essential maintenance on Sunday morning. The site may well be offline for a short time, starting around 10am, but we'll keep it to a minimum. If for any reason "a short time" starts turning in to a longer one, you'll be able to get updates by looking at Mumsnet on twitter, which you can find at:

twitter.com/mumsnettowers

For the technically minded (and this would only impact them, so don't worry - if you're not sure if this is relevant to you, it isn't!) we're going to be changing the IP address of www.mumsnet.com. We will of course be updating our name servers to point at the new address, but if you do anything funky with the IP address you'll have to update after we've made the change.

You don't have to sign up to twitter, just click that link.

@ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak

Yetmoretech - will this maintenance include sorting out the 'Threads I'm on' nice to have the sort facility, but when will we be able to delete threads from it??

And will it get rid of this new bit ^^ that we don't need and is just cluttering up the screen?! (top bar now at the bottom too)

Cheers Wine

Actually, no. It's not that kind of maintenance.

The ^^ new bit is nothing to do with me something that loads of people have been asking for for ages, I thought.

I once gave out an MSN messenger address for those wanting updates but I got loads of irate mums screaming at me so I'm keeping quiet this time.

Quick update:

This has been delayed a little due to an administrative cock-up by the people that own the building in which our servers are located (I know that sounds like an excuse, but it's genuinely the reason). Shouldn't be too long now...

YetMoreTech · 06/02/2011 10:57

We're back, but it's not finished yet. More news soon. As you were, for now.

YetMoreTech · 06/02/2011 13:05

GentleOtter - we're not aware of that. Certainly I'm not seeing them. Could you email a screenshot to tech? That's @mumsnet.com of course.

Is anybody else getting these?

YetMoreTech · 06/02/2011 13:31

I've had an email from GO. Thanks.

Is anybody else seeing "attack site warnings"?

YetMoreTech · 06/02/2011 14:05

We think it's just GentleOtter for some reason. Am helping her investigate.

Meanwhile, we're all done with this work. We've not quite finished it, but we can do the remainder in the middle of the night so you won't notice.

Thanks all.

GO, we're pretty confident the problem is not on the Mumsnet server's side.

How about trying a different browser? Google Chrome is a good choice.

Perhaps post in Geek Stuff and some of the wonderful technically minded people on Mumsnet will help you get it sorted.
