What type of eternity ring would you add to this combo...

Hi fashionable hive mind! We finally have the funds to get an eternity ring to go with my wedding and engagement ring. I am very uncreative and the only thing I think will match is either a plain band or the same wedding band again. My sister (young, fashionable, living the high life with no responsibility yet) thinks I should get something completely different.

I would love any of your suggestions or links, or photos of your combos. I really want to make sure I love it forever!

Your wedding band has a lot of parallels with an eternity ring already.

I'd go for something completely different, to be worn on a different finger, I think.

Gretnaglebe · 26/04/2025 12:31

I’d do coloured stones this time

GentlePlayer · 26/04/2025 12:45

This one is beautiful, and I think the type of thing my sister was talking about, I just can't visualise whether it would look nice or a bit odd. I know I do need to just go in somewhere and try some on but that's easier said than done sometimes!

I actually have another ring I received from a family member that I wear on my right hand. I'm not really one to swop them around, and with limited fingers I don't "need" another ring.

Oh coloured stones might be nice, maybe some alternating sapphires or rubies?

@SoScarletItWas that ring is stunning! Have you shopped there before? I've never heard of that company.

VanCleefArpels · 26/04/2025 12:54

The PoW has been wearing a band with alternate diamonds and sapphires instead of her mahoosive engagement ring

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 26/04/2025 12:57

I would either get a ring that alternates (sapphire, ruby or yellow diamond for me), or I'd get a trilogy to symbolise yesterday, today, forever.

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 26/04/2025 12:58

Or yes, if you decide on a plain diamond eternity I would do as pp suggested and get one that echoes the round diamond.

If you have children, how about a ring with their birthstones. My wedding band is a band of alternating diamond and sapphires in row (dd born in September). I would like an eternity ring with my sons birthstone too but we are skint!

I've just seen this one. Wonder if I could combine both ideas

Oh I love this idea...but just looked up their birthstone, they are May and January (green and red) which in my opinion would clash a bit

I've shopped there. I bought a ring and a necklace. I wanted a different sized ring (it was slightly too big) but the returns process was a hassle. You have to order and purchase a new one (several weeks wait) and return the old. The necklace was poor quality, the back of the pendant was rough and caught on the necklace. They wouldn't acknowledge this and I struggled to get a refund (I returned it). So overall a disappointing experience.

Princess of Wales has alternating sapphire and diamond band which I think is beautiful.

No I haven’t, I was just looking for inspiration! I wasn’t necessarily saying that exact one (it’s lab grown and didn’t know if OP wanted that or natural stones), but it was more the style I was suggesting.

AliceMcK · 26/04/2025 14:01

Those are beautiful rings, not to dissimilar to my own. However my tastes have changed a lot since I got mine and I’m a bit more risky than I use to be with jewellery, I’ve actually got whole new rings ( the perks of putting so much weight on my rings don’t fit any more).

if your wanting to stay in keeping with your current style I’d choose something plain but add colour, maybe look at something that incorporates yours and your DHs birth stones or your DCs birth stones ( if you have any).

Also love what wintersgold has posted.

CertainUncertain · 26/04/2025 14:09

Both your wedding and engagement rings are channel set, which is lovely, but a lot of settings - I'd go for something like this, worn in between the two you have, which would break it up and provide a nice visual contrast.

Why don’t you get a different piece then? A pendant or earrings?

I wear my eternity ring on my right hand as it doesn’t stack well with my wedding and engagement rings.

User5274959 · 26/04/2025 14:17

Your wedding band is basically an eternity ring already, to my mind. That's the issue!

Ramblingaway · 26/04/2025 15:09

Make sure your new ring is the same material as your existing ones, otherwise if different metals or carats, they will scratch which ever is softer.
