What type of eternity ring would you add to this combo...

Hi fashionable hive mind! We finally have the funds to get an eternity ring to go with my wedding and engagement ring. I am very uncreative and the only thing I think will match is either a plain band or the same wedding band again. My sister (young, fashionable, living the high life with no responsibility yet) thinks I should get something completely different.

I would love any of your suggestions or links, or photos of your combos. I really want to make sure I love it forever!

Before you choose anything, you need to get those rings cleaned. They don’t even look like diamonds. And the metal (platinum/palladium?) looks odd. I really don’t mean to be unkind!

MerlinsBeard1 · 26/04/2025 15:49

My engagement ring and wedding band are eternity bands of brilliant round cut diamonds, so I opted for a baguette cut when I got the eternity ring. Obviously, the eternity should traditionally be worn after the engagement ring but I like the different cut of stones to distinguish one ring from the next.

Maybe try different cuts or different coloured stones? Next on my hit list is an emerald band.

That was unkind. I think it is the dim lighting, they definitely do look like diamonds.

I stand by what I wrote. I did not mean to be unkind. I was trying to be helpful.

PS your rings look lovely. However, I am starting to wonder about the glitter (or lack of glitter). I see it a little in your photos but not as much as I’d expect even in low lighting. It may be that my expectations are wrong. I am used to diamonds with significant glitter. I apologise if my expectations are wrong.

It's a dreary day here so no bright light source. They sparkle lovely in sunlight, under spotlights or candle light etc. Fire comes from the clarity and quality of the cut. My cuts are excellent and clarity VVS1 which is one below flawless. I became something of an expert on the 4 Cs when we were looking 🤓

I was referring to the OP’s post and picture. You criticised my comment on that. I stand by my original comment.

This is what I want for an eternity ring:

I love that ring and most of the others by Emily Nixon, if only I had a spare few thousand pounds.

Ineffable23 · 26/04/2025 18:13

What about going for a plain wedding style band, seeing as your wedding ring is already fairly "eternity style"? I love a classic look so I think this is what I would do, or an alternating diamond and sapphire band.

Chilliconbandit · 26/04/2025 20:01

Also, garnets come in many colours. I have January and May children and have an eternity ring with emeralds and diamonds and a necklace with a green garnet. They look lovely when worn together (I think)!

tarheelbaby · 26/04/2025 20:23

I think you need a fun trip round the shops. Go see what's out there and try them on with your current rings to see what you think.
My first thought was another wedding band to be worn on top so wedding band - engagement ring - wedding band
But I like PPs' idea that you should add an eternity band with colour or alternating stones. What are your and DH's birthstones? Maybe they coordinate better than the red and green of your DCs?
What does your 'right hand ring' look like? Does that give any inspiration?

Nametobechanged · 26/04/2025 20:35

Mine is like my wedding band but bigger. I’d do similar with yours. Stick to the channel setting but with bigger stones?

I like the suggestion by @wintersgold as your rings have a border of metal on either side of the row of diamonds.

Btowngirl · 26/04/2025 21:04

Love this, think it would look great:

Your wedding band has a lot of parallels with an eternity ring already.

I'd go for something completely different, to be worn on a different finger, I think.

The wedding band is exactly the same as my eternity ring

Not that I am the authority on style but I actually looked at this stack and thought WOW!!!!!!! Beautiful. 🤩

Jane958 · 26/04/2025 22:06

You already have an eternity ring, it is your "wedding" ring.
Why not go for a proper, traditional wedding ring? Plain gold or platinum. Much smarter (in your parlance, classy - dreadful word) than more "bling".

Oh coloured stones might be nice, maybe some alternating sapphires or rubies?

I love this designer. I am having a ring made by them at the moment and they are lovely about helping you work out what you want and doing it within a specific budget. Have a look at their designs, I swear if I had endless cash (and infinite fingers) I would buy them all 😁

Ah a wave ring. My eternity ring is similar to accommodate crossover diamond engagement ring. They are lovely.

Check out this account on Instagram. He is a jeweller and he reviews rings people send in, ots interesting because you get to see a huge variety of different 'stacks'. Might help with visualising different ideas. https://www.instagram.com/guillaumecuratesjewels?igsh=MWtmNWR6b25iZm50Ng==

I went for a different ring to go on the third finger of my right hand. I don’t want three rings on one finger. Is that an option?
