Volvo estate in cherry red and a BMW sports car. I have very fond memories of long journeys in the Volvo.

Pointlessfact · 24/02/2018 23:36

Blue honda

SoupDragon · 24/02/2018 23:43

Ford Zephyr (Mk4 or so google tells me). I loved that car.

disneydatknee · 24/02/2018 23:49

A lada. It was disgustingly old and tin can-ish.

ItsNotFairLois · 24/02/2018 23:53

From what I remember VW Golf, Ford escort, Peugeot 205, 207, 306, 206 cc, 208 (they like Peugeot's), Ford Capri, daihatsu, lots of old style minis, a Mini Cooper sport and my DF has had about 10 different bikes as well and I'm only 27 Grin only 1 of them cars and a couple of bikes have been from brand new though, they've usually gone for used.

damekindness · 24/02/2018 23:56

A series of Ford Anglias all prone to overheating

CointreauVersial · 24/02/2018 23:59

A Triumph Dolomite!

In a lovely cornflower blue.

MadisonAvenue · 25/02/2018 00:02

We didn't have one. My Dad could drive and had a Mini in the 1960s but I believe he sold it just before I was born.

MrNewcastle · 09/03/2018 11:21

Honda

takemeimalive · 05/04/2018 09:20

My mum had a Talbot Sunbeam. I’ve never known anyone else to actually ever admit to owning one!

PistFump · 05/04/2018 09:23

We had a Vauxhall nova saloon and a green Skoda with a black vinyl roof

wejammin · 05/04/2018 09:25

When I was little mum had a Renault 5 that needed a push start most mornings. Dad had a triumph dolomite sprint that he swapped for a very boring grey Rover 200. Then they got a Rav4 which I loved.

Chasingsquirrels · 05/04/2018 09:25

Skoda's, new and replaced every 3 years.
Can't remember when from, thinking about it we probably only had 2 as they couldn't have afforded it when I was very small or until my mum did her NNEB, then teaching degree and started teaching when I was 9.

Then a Nissan, not Micra - what was the next sized one? I learned to drive in that.

They got two cars when my grandad died (so '94 I think) and they kept his for a while and having got used to two.

You can tell everyone's age here by their answers.

Several but my favourite was a brand new Ford XR4i. My father drove up a long hill on the A23 at 138 with me excitedly saying "faster, faster" it was the start of my obsession with cars. He also had a Ferrari that he raced. I now drive a classic car every day, and the joy I get more than makes up for the regular bills. It's my only luxury.

We had a succession of shitty cars, always old. Parents were pretty poor. We had a few Nissans; a Sunny, a Primera. Ford Escort estate, which is still going according to the DVLA tax checker! We had a nice Volvo 340 which was old but an excellent car. Nowadays, my mum treats herself to a nice small car with all the bells and whistles.

ChikiTIKI · 05/04/2018 09:35

Ford mondeo, Vauxhall Astra

OakIsBetterTho · 05/04/2018 09:45

Volkswagen split screen campervan, one red and one orange.
Some Renault thing, I was too young to remember that one.
A Volkswagen double cab pick up thing in army green
Volkswagen caravelle
Vauxhall zafira
A multitude of land rovers... we are farmers!

Mightymelon · 24/06/2018 10:48

An Austin maestro- the windows didn’t wind down and my sister used to tell my dad she would suffocate and die If he didn’t get a new car 😂

AornisHades · 24/06/2018 11:04

take my boyfriend's mum had a Talbot Sunbeam that he used to borrow when his car was laid up.

AornisHades · 24/06/2018 11:06

The first one I remember was an Avenger which was followed by an Austin 1800 and my mum got a ancient Mini.

aldaniti · 24/06/2018 12:29

Ooh good thread!

A yellowish/cream Astra was the first one I remember and then my dad started to get company cars (ford Mondeos mostly.) my grandma thought they were dead posh!

somewhereovertherain · 24/06/2018 14:04

Mum had an original Fiat 500
Dad had an Hilman Avenger Rally car and Simica Estate

brizzledrizzle · 27/07/2018 16:11

A real mini (the tiny ones) and a Morris Traveller (Mum), Dad had a mirena or maybe it was a Marina and then a series of volvos.

DoraChance · 27/07/2018 16:12

Hillman Avenger

Justgivemesomepeace · 27/07/2018 16:13

A blue daf, yellow Vauxhall viva and a triumph dolomite. The last one was particularly embarrassing.
