Some kind of blue daf, yellow Vauxhall viva and a triumph dolomite. I used to lie down on the back seat when we drove past the local pub I case any cool people I knew saw me.

italiancortado · 20/02/2018 22:30

Morris Ital

Fiat Yugo

Austin Maestro

Various ancient volvos

I genuinely have no idea which one embarrassed me the most Blush

Jogel · 20/02/2018 22:31

A Morris Traveller, in the summer we were sometimes allowed on short journeys to sit in the boot with the back doors open Shock..Then a Maxi, a Morris Marina, a Morris Ital, and an Austin Montego My parents didn't believe in buying foreign rubbish Grin

gillybeanz · 20/02/2018 22:37

Dh had a capri and cortina 1600E Grin
I do not miss the days of the dining table being full of bits and his mate taking up lodging when they were working on them.
Haines can go fuck themselves.

Dads was a ford Cortina, but it wasn't the first, I can't remember the exact ones. I have lists of everything my Dad ever bought, price, serial numbers, date, every penny accounted for.
I had no idea, until we found it all. Sad

RavenLG · 20/02/2018 22:42

Mum had several versions of Micra.
Dad had a shit brown Fiesta. The seats in the back were so stained they were covered in blankets.
He then upgraded to a faded red escort. Both STUNK of fags and I hated getting in them.

iklboo · 20/02/2018 22:43

Ford Escort & Ford Cortina. I can still remember the reg plates.

Borris · 20/02/2018 22:44

Cortina and then volvo

0123fluffyunicorn · 20/02/2018 22:45

A grey proton. Are they even made any more?

EllenJanethickerknickers · 20/02/2018 22:48

A two tone red and white Vauxhall Victor with bench seats across the front. Beautiful car, same age as me, and I can remember its registration, too.

0123fluffyunicorn · 20/02/2018 22:51

Oh and an Austin maestro. Can't remember which one we had first

Katescurios · 20/02/2018 22:52

A yugo when I was really little then a fiat 126 which had 3 children squeezed into the back daily.

Taffeta · 20/02/2018 22:54

My Dad had Jags & my mum had an MG BGT

fleshmarketclose · 20/02/2018 22:57

I remember him having a Datsun when I was small,it was such a wreck and you could see the road beneath your feet in the driving seat.
As I grew older though df had plenty of money and always had brand new top of the range Volvos every year. No idea why he chose Volvos though.

ginghamstarfish · 20/02/2018 22:58

A blue Singer? Is that a car brand or am I thinking of sewing machines? It was very exciting as we hadn't had one before.

ErinSophia · 20/02/2018 23:01

Jaguar

SheSparkles · 20/02/2018 23:07

Simca, a succession of Ford Cortinas, followed by several Vauxhall Astras, then because of a disability several Renault Scenics and now on his 2nd Golf plus

We still have my Granda’s 1973 VW Beetle 😁

Time40 · 20/02/2018 23:10

A very beautiful green Singer Gazelle. I wish I had one now. It needed servicing about every five minutes, though. Later on, my father got a Triumph Vitesse, which had a sort of shelf instead of a back seat, and there wasn't enough room actually to sit on it, as there was no space for legs. I had to lie across the shelf instead of sitting down. I don't think he really took being a family man very seriously, where cars were concerned!

Time40 · 20/02/2018 23:12

Ha! See above. Yes, it was a car brand.

holasoydora · 20/02/2018 23:15

A sierra estate, and later DM had a battered Renault 4, then a 5.

BikeRunSki · 20/02/2018 23:52

My dad used to live to tell everyone how he had to sell his sports car when I cane along to get a sensible family car.... he managed a Lotus Elan (show off) with 2 dc, but it was impractical for a carry cot!

Blue Fiat with leaky windows
Blue Austin Maxi
Green Ford Granada
Silver Peugeot saloon
Red Talbot Sunbeam

LemonysSnicket · 21/02/2018 00:14

An Audi which we sold to the window cleaner, a shogun, a land rover, a Mercedes Benz and a golf and a Vw something.

They split up though and the money was spent on a costly divorce.

MrsMoastyToasty · 21/02/2018 00:21

A pea green ford cortina, a Ford granada, a Leyland princess. Dad usually had the top spec model because they were company cars.

SuperBeagle · 21/02/2018 00:27

They had old/vintage cars.

I think they had a Ford Mustang from the 60s when I was born, and they had a 60s Mercury Comet which my dad was working on.

But after he died, my mum sold them and bought a more reliable car which had A/C etc. in it because she was regularly driving 6+ hours to see family who lived in Sydney. And that car was a Suzuki Baleno.

Rejoiner · 21/02/2018 07:14

My parents had loads of cars most of which I remember

The best were the Ford Capri and the minivan

Drinaballerina · 21/02/2018 07:17

Loads! My dad owned a car dealership so it was a new car every couple of months. Our favourite was the red audi passat - so 80's!
