Pubes on Men. Or Not?

lucyandmike · 15/01/2023 04:57

My DH has normally just trimmed a bit but had been wanting to start shaving his pubes for a while. Last year he really went to town and shaved them all off and says it's much more comfortable so has kept it like this since. I'd probably prefer for him to have a bit of hair down there if possible but I don't mind it like it is at all. What do others like for men, pubes or no pubes. Is shaving it all for men common now?

@namechanged1010 its been perfect for me! Re growth does start again but it’s dealt with easily with maintenance zapping!! There are charts online which will show how effective it’s likely to be for you depending on skin tone and hair colour

Anotherbloke1 · 22/01/2023 10:58

Is it safe to use on vagina area? We are looking at some and she likes to be smooth all over as do I front & back.

Judeisnotobscure · 22/01/2023 11:37

my Lumea is safe, I prefer to be completely bare too

AlexaAdventuress · 22/01/2023 13:00

I've found that men are much more fun to play with when they're bare down below. With my partner, I suggested we do this shortly after we started dating, and he did not demur, even though he had some opportunity to back out. I clipped the hair down fairly close and finished him off with my Gillette Venus and some sensitive shaving foam. The solution to stubble is to keep doing it regularly! Interestingly, he's much more attached to his armpit hair, and usually refuses when I suggest doing that too.

Philips OneBlade is perfect for staying smooth. Very easy to use and leaves everything super soft. I’ve been using it for a few years now, have never looked back.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 23/01/2023 07:25

I’ve just split with someone 100% shaved and I have to say I loved it
clean and shaved meant I loved giving oral in a way I never did before let’s say

Choconut · 23/01/2023 14:40

Euuurgh I hate this obsession with no body hair that seems to be spreading from women to men. To me no hair looks awful on either, like a plucked chicken. I also really couldn't be bothered with the constant upkeep and the stubble, ingrown hair - mind you I wouldn't want to be giving anyone a BJ every day either so maybe if others are that's why it's required.

Iloveabaconbutty · 23/01/2023 15:05

I've already contributed to this thread and have said that shaving my pubes definitely isn't for me. But reading further posts with interest I just wanted to note my admiration of those who do prefer this and the time and painstaking care it must take, esp to avoid stubbly regrowth, etc.

Genuinely, hats off to you. I have enough bother just shaving my face in the morning without getting a nick or two. I just don't think I would have the energy or patience to sort out down below as well!

StarlightLady · 23/01/2023 15:51

@Iloveabaconbutty It shows the difference between women's and mens grooming over the years. Many woken are used to time consuming routines, beyond hair. Not complaining, just pointing out. And I think it's good where men are making that extra effort.

Iloveabaconbutty · 23/01/2023 16:08

@StarlightLady That's certainly a very fair point!

BabyST · 23/01/2023 17:04

My DH uses Manscape which leaves like 2-4mm of hair looks just right and balls are shaven

AlexaAdventuress · 23/01/2023 18:47

Compared to some other parts of the body, I don't find shaving down there too difficult. My knees take more time and effort because they're more knobbly and have little recesses either side at the back so it's easy to miss bits or even sustain an injury if you're in a hurry. Depilating a partner can often be a fun little experience for both, and can easily lead to a happy ending, so it's not exactly time wasted, as far as I'm concerned.

It's really not that much hassle, especially if you keep on top of it. Probably takes me an extra 30-60 seconds in the shower to maintain it. Couple of times a week is sufficient. Been shaving down there for 25 years so the practice probably makes it quicker. I'm not particularly careful and only had a nick a handful of times, and never noticed any ingrowing hairs.

Use a 'women's' razor as they're designed for body hair rather than facial hair - the blades have different angles than a man's, so you're less likely to cut yourself.

I shave my balls and around the base of my dick and then trim/thin above (still using a razor, seems to work pretty well). For me, completely bald down there is a step too far, particularly since I leave hair elsewhere (chest, legs etc). I do it for hygiene and aesthetics, it just feels more comfortable to me. And, well, no one wants to suck on hairy balls do they?

I also shave my underarms, more for hygiene than looks. Not completely bare, again just thin and trim with the razor. Because I'm not going down to completely bare it takes less frequent maintenance as you're not having to keep on top of the stubbly regrowth that would need daily attention.

I want to laser mine.

My husband has started to do laser on his and has done 2 treatments so far, with very good results. He naturally has a lot of pubes and has shaved for a long time and more recently got into waxing.

He prefers no hair down there on himself and so do I but maintenance is a pain so he tried laser and has not had to shave again after his 2nd treatment and it has stayed smooth.

Anotherbloke1 · 28/01/2023 13:00

Just ordered Philips lumea 9000 so hopefully nice & smooth for longer periods soon. Has he used on his balls? Says not suitable for men's genital. Going to use it everywhere else but unsure of that area.

My DP has a predilection for oral so trims right down to make the experience more pleasurable for me. I would complain bitterly if I had to deal with hair in my mouth! I have used IPL to remove all of my pubic hair as I have a VCH piercing and like it to be on show!

I think same goes for women, my bf always gives me oral (never had a lover so generous with that, certainly not complaining) and I think it must feel nicer for men if there’s less hair there. Easier to hit the right spots too! I think I’d hate to have a mouthful of pubes when giving a BJ, but easier for men in that respect as they don’t have hair on the actual penis itself!

How many sessions do you need do you think? I’m a woman. I’ve only recently started shaving it all off, been single for years, now seeing someone and mid 40’s no-one wants grey pubes so off it came! It’s not great shaving though, it’s not as itchy as I thought but can be a little itchy, so I’d like to investigate other options.

PermanentTemporary · 29/01/2023 11:26

I welcome all public arrangements, hairy, shaved or stubble. Tbh I don't notice that much, I have to stop and think afterwards whether they were or not. Mmmm. Men are the best [reverie]

I've only encountered women with trimmed not completely shaven or untouched. All fine.

Clean. Clean is what matters. If you like your bush, I like it too, but you MUST wash.

They say normally 6 is good but sometimes up to 8. He saw some immediate reduction after the first treatment and much better after the second. They said they start out with the laser on lower power and turn it up in subsequent treatments once they know how the skin / hair is doing. He did the whole area but has kept a small patch on top before he decided if he wanted to remove absolutely everything!

Great thanks so much very helpful

ShyAmy333 · 31/01/2023 17:39

Definitely nicely trimmed pubes. I had pubes before I transitioned it just didn't seem right without

ANewDayDawned · 01/02/2023 16:33

My DH has been keeping his very short for years, I can't remember it not short. I love it. Nothing to do with looking bigger. I would hate a load of hair there personally

KangarooKenny · 01/02/2023 16:36

Trimmed for me. I don’t want him looking like a pre-pubescent boy.

Stayontopicplease22 · 01/02/2023 16:46

I hate it too. Both me and dh have experimented and hair removal over the years. We’ve been together for nearly 30 years. It is just a massive waste of time and energy. I stopped removing any hair other than my peri moustache about 10 years ago. It’s liberating. Life is too short to be so invested in pubic hair.

StarlightLady · 01/02/2023 21:12

@KangarooKenny - I take it he doesn’t shave his face then? Because that too would make him look like a pre-pubescent boy.
