Did it hurt when you lost your virginity?

I found my first 2-3 sexual experiences absolute agony, and from the very few conversations I've ever had with friends on the topic in the subsequent 11-odd years, thought this was completely normal.

However, in a recent discussion with another friend she was bemused by this and said she experienced little or no pain. I was intrigued so took to the internet, and it seems (from such reputable sources as redit Hmm ) that this isn't uncommon. However, a lot of the other hits were clearly aimed at teenage girls and didn't want to scare the bejeezus out of them, so were much more coy.

I'd be interested in a straw poll of actual women. Did it hurt like hell at first, or was it just me?

Didn't hurt for me, so was surprised to find I bled. I have rather fond memories of the event.

mortificado · 18/11/2016 23:30

No blood but felt horribly uncomfortable. 2nd time round was just fine Wink

idontlikealdi · 18/11/2016 23:32

Didn't hurt but there was a LOT of blood (all over cream leather Range Rover seats!)

Hushabyelullaby · 18/11/2016 23:35

Not at all, (and didn't bleed), I had never ridden a horse but was a tampon user. Although fumbly and inexperienced, both of us were ready and I have fond memories.

KermitTheFudd · 19/11/2016 00:02

It was fine for me, no pain at all. I was 18 and it was with someone I was very much in love with. We waited a long time to be together and it just felt "right" so I was feeling very relaxed which probably made a difference.

We lasted 3 years together and there were times when it was painful - hungover early morning sex always seems to be the worst Grin

katand2kits · 19/11/2016 09:43

Not at all. I was fully relaxed, had just had an orgasm and partner was gentle.

GazingAtStars · 19/11/2016 09:47

Yes it hurt a lot, I was very nervous and he turned out to be a shit head so possibly I wasn't as "ready" as I thought I was. I was on top too.

Blue2014 · 19/11/2016 10:14

God, not at all - id never considered it could hurtShock have never been a tampon user either

Sadik · 19/11/2016 10:24

No, but it didn't last very long! Boyfriend was 5 years older (early 20s) and I'd naively imagined that he might have a bit more experience than me . . . We got better with a bit of practice Grin

Sadik · 19/11/2016 10:25

Have never ever got on with tampons (though took to a mooncup in my 40s), so I'm not sure that's a useful guide.

Bitofacow · 19/11/2016 10:29

It was 'underwhelming' no pain, and nothing else either. Twat.

I have since moved on and made up for this.Wink

JoeyJoeJoeJuniorShabadu · 19/11/2016 10:33

Yes it was very, very painful and there was a lot of blood.
the next two or three times were sore too.
after that, no problems.

Proseccopanda · 19/11/2016 10:55

I was a horse rider, but hadn't used tampons, and yes it hurt a little bit, and I bled a lot. Cream trousers were not the best choice of attire that evening Blush

Natsku · 19/11/2016 10:56

Yes. Very painful and lots of blood. Couldn't even 'get it in' properly because it hurt too much so had to give up. He was bigger than the average though.

barefootinkitchen · 19/11/2016 10:59

No pain, some discomfort. I don't know if it was because I made sure I was really ready for penetration. Eg. Almost at orgasm after lots of time rubbing together and kissing etc etc. No blood either? Which I was surprised by. Sometimes if I go a long time without sex now, in my 40s, it's painful when we do.

Gwenhwyfar · 19/11/2016 12:44

It hurt like hell, but that was because I had (or maybe 'have', not sure if you're ever really cured) vaginismus. A lot of women can have vaginismus in certain situations without being regular sufferers I think.
Also bled a lot and I get quite annoyed when I read on the internet that some people claim the bleeding is a myth.

AkimboLimbo · 19/11/2016 15:50

It was uncomfortable and it wasn't easy but he was a nice guy, took his time.

louisejxxx · 19/11/2016 15:54

I had a bit of pain but I'd done gymnastics for a long while and don't recall bleeding so think hymen has already gone (I started periods early too so could've easily happened without my knowledge) - we did it again 48 hours later if I recall so can't have been a scarring experience.

IrenetheQuaint · 20/11/2016 22:00

It stabbed a bit at the time, and ached the next day, but nothing too bad. Only a tiny bit of blood.

bridgetoc · 23/11/2016 22:19

Not in the slightest........ It was good, and he was nice!

magicstar1 · 23/11/2016 22:25

Didn't hurt, tiny bit of blood...but I remember my first wee afterwards stinging like hell!

crje · 23/11/2016 22:28

No pain
He was useless & only did it with him once.

I've never had painful sex

TulipsInAJug · 23/11/2016 22:29

Yes it was agony and to be honest it hurt for the first month, with doing it regularly. I still enjoyed it though. We used lube. And I was both a horserider and tampon user.

I'm convinced it is to do with penis size.

LittleBee23 · 25/11/2016 23:47

I do remember it being quite uncomfy the first twice although I was fairly pissed both times 🙈 After that it didn't seem to be an issue although even now sometimes the wrong position or an over enthusiastic thrust can be randomly excruciating!
I didn't bleed the first time either.

MsVanRein · 25/11/2016 23:51

I was drunk so can't remember feeling much at all ConfusedBlush
I was in a world of pain the next day though - could barely walk! I remember thinking I might die!!
