I'll be in the car outside school. She's going to get her results envelope, bring it back to the car, open it there. Then what happens next depends on the results I think! Her main motive seems to be avoiding school photographers who hang about on results day.!

And interviews for social media!!

@Walkingbkwrm he wants to go to sixth form for A-Levels. He needs an 8 in maths to do the subjects he wants so fingers crossed!

Definitely no interviews or photographers. Luckily, DS isn't an attractive 16yo girl, so he's unlikely to be asked.

Re parents coming in or not – I didn't go in with mine but at the time I was still teaching in school so I was at my school giving out results and congratulating my studnets. Vividly recall missing calls from DD and frantically ringing her to see how she did in English x 2 (her fave and an unknown quantity at the time as this was the first year there were any number grades. It was all good tho).

All of mine had friends they went in with tho. I think it's a good idea fo have someone. I recall a lovely student I taught who came in late, on her own, no pals with her, no mum; I knew that sadly she hadn't got what she needed to progress as she hoped and she kind of had to deal with it supported only by some school staff. So if there is a sniff of possible disappointment, I think a parent on standby or a friend to be with is a good idea.

Hope all get what they need next Thursday.

My DD said no way we can go with her. Not even to car park. I’ve been asking her to agree a time with her friends tho

It’s a bit weird at DS2s school as he should get an email at 8 - but they still insist he collects his envelope although originally they didn’t make that clear and I’d told him he didn’t have to . we do have to go in anyway to see head of sixth form so I guess I will just manage what ever state he’s in on the day .

No real clue what he’ll get as he didn’t really revise for his mocks so nothing to work from - real thing revision was patchy too .

I would love to see us carry on a year 12 thread . I am on one for DS1 which is so helpful and supportive . I personally don’t think there’s a need to divid into school sixth form and separate college threads - although I guess that means every post needs more explanation of a child’s circumstances.

I’m waiting in the car outside, DD isn't sure if parents are going in so she said she will text me to come if many are there!

Once she’s got her results we then need to drive to the school she wants to go to to try to change her A Level. We have to load her results onto the portal too which all schools in our borough mainly use to apply.

4 days to go…..

Definitely think we should continue into year 12 thread, not sure if we should all decamp to the one in further education or start a new one for us when this one all up though? I guess those whose DCs are going into work/apprenticeships might have a different experience from those at school/college but I’d still be interested in how they are all doing.

Different post 16 routes all come with their own unique challenges and experiences. My DS1 went into an apprenticeship straight after GCSEs and was earning more than me whilst still being only 16 and having all the usual teenage dramas. That was certainly an experience for me!

But we are all parents who want the best for our children no matter what path they take and I hope could all be supportive despite the differences.

Question for secondary teachers: are you going in for your school’s results day? I’m not as I’ll be with dd. But I’m hoping this won’t be frowned upon at work. I’m sad not to see my lovely Y11s get their results - but on balance would rather be there to support/congratulate dd

Anyone else getting OCR iGCSE results on Tuesday? DD is for a couple and she’ll be away with another family at the time 😬. Didn’t realise until after the bookings were done! I feel terrible that she’ll be away on her own (well without us there) when she gets them.

Quite relaxed still here. Will probably ramp up day by day now! Not sure what the plan on the day is yet - likely that I will go with her for results and we'll have a chat to teachers to help her decide on A level choices.

Same issue as some others in that her best friends are predicted 9s, but from what DD says she'll be happy as long as she gets her predicted grades (7/8s). (I have got a spreadsheet to compare her grades to predicted and mock grades but won't show her!).

Gran is treating us all to dinner out but DD hasn't decided where yet. I have a congrats card but no presents. We're going for a few nights in a premier inn next week and doing activities like go karting as a family which is the official celebration.

We were quite relaxed but family and friends keep asking and I just want everyone to shut up. There is literally nothing which anyone can do now. My DH is feeling negative and I just don’t get it. It will be what it will be.

Final couple of days of our holiday here so trying not to think about it for now. It’ll all start feeling very real when we get home though.

DS should get results emailed at 8 and then depending on how he’s done I think he will want to go into school to collect the paper copy.

DS has decided that he’s hoping for all 5s and anything else is a bonus. I’m a bit more hopeful but let’s see!!

He has to be at school at 8.30 so we’re going with him and then hopefully he’ll go off with his mates. Apparently there’s loads of discounts available on Thursday!

We have finally got appointments from the colleges - so depending on his results we might need to go straight from results to registration at college at 9:30am. Takes about 45min or more depending on trains to get there so that doesn’t leave much time to take it all in and dry tears (not his first choice) and get there. But supposedly they over offer and it’s first come first served. Not impressed and even more stressed now!
The other options are all registration on the Friday sometime - so much more sensible!

My DD collects her results Thursday, at the school from 9am, I have strict instructions to drive her to the school, via Starbucks, then leave her to open them alone and then I can join for the 6th form chat after.

I an so nervous for her. She is predicted 8’s & 7’s but after the exams we think a couple of 6’s might be realistic too.

Goal is to remain at her grammar school to take 4 A Levels with EPQ!

also, I didn’t realise they only get a sheet with all of the results on one page! I remember getting the exam certificates when I did my GCSE’s and ALevels

Our enrolments are all next week which makes far more sense

@Coparentingnightmareonsteriods she will get certificates but they are given out later – usually after the start of term. Anyone not staying at their school will be contacted and asked to collect them. Keep them in a safe place!

We need to pick up and enrol from 9.30-11.30 at her current school. But have just been offered a consultant's appointment that she's been waiting for at 9am on the same day. It's about a 20 minute drive away so I think we should probably take it but not sure if it's too much stress on one day.

She then has to enrol at her other choice of 6th form from 1.30-3.30. And is planning on taking advantage of some of the freebies in between. Though at the moment the main concern seems to be what she's going to wear to collect results!

Anyone else collect CIE results this am?

It is a lot and we have had discussions about this because 4 Alevels doesn’t necessarily give the edge for unis.

However, her school run what they call a ‘high flyers programme’ for the people taking 4 and they get access to more things such as trips abroad, 1:1 support with Oxford & Cambridge applications etc it’s the additional extras she would like to be part of more than having to do 4. Trust me as parents we have raised this potentially unfair but it’s the way the school always has done it
