Hi,
My DS score is 112. I’m trying to submit selection review but couldn’t able to attach the file as it’s keep throwing error message saying , “ check that you have uploaded your evidence correctly.” The files sizes are in required limit. Do I have to wait for Head teacher forum before I upload my documents online. Please someone guide me.

You absolutely need to speak to your headteacher on Monday, as they need to complete their part too.

However, with 112, it's worth getting your child excited about the alternative schools. Have a look at the stats on success for (2020) Selection Reviews against scores - it's not pretty reading. www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/selection_review_results_for_202/response/1544877/attach/html/3/2020%20entry%20SRP%20decisions.xlsx.html

Last year only 8 out of 36 reviews qualified for a score of 112.

Thank you! I’m going to talk with his teacher tomorrow but why I’m unable to upload any documents from my side on online selection review.

DolphinOnASkateboard · 12/10/2025 12:20

22% of reviews for pupils with 112s were successful last year and 15% the year before that so it's worth a punt. Good luck with it. Based on the more granular data they published for 2024 admissions you really really need to have got a 1:1 recommendation from the head when they put in their scores before the results were announced, you should be able to find this out when you speak to them. Without that it really will be an uphill struggle, but it's totally worth trying your best.

When you filed the review request and put in the school email address etc you should have received a message explaining the whole process, which seems to imply that nothing can happen until you've spoken to the headteacher so maybe just wait until you've done that. You've got until 31 October to submit so no massive rush.

We are waiting for results - only sat for 1 school and we are out of area (which means even longer wait until March)
If DD passes I would put it as first on our secondary school choices however local comp has said they can only guarantee a place if you put them first as your preference.
I am so worried that DD would end up with none of her choices 😫

If your local comp has said you can only get a place if they're your first choice, they're lying to you. That is not how the admission system works.

Sorry for confusing matters, I was saying me too in terms of I too am v sorry to hear that it didn't go to plan for dolphin's DS. It sounds like he really should have got through. What a shit system. I think for Latymer etc even though they're very competitive it probably isn't as much pressure as when you're in a fully grammar area. I feel for everyone who didn't get the results they were hoping for.

I think a lot of people from elsewhere don't understand that Bucks is a fully selective county and what that means in terms of school choice and quality.

Mind you, I am close to ending friendships with people who do live here and whose kids have qualified and now think the best thing to say is "oh, your DS is so smart he'll thrive wherever he goes" when they've got no intention of sending their grammar-qualified DC to the local upper.

Anyway, Selection Review request filed, meeting the head on Monday to discuss, then need to make the case that six years of across the board above-ARE performance in all subjects should mean more than 120 minutes of shape rotation on a Thursday morning.

Thank you. I feel like I knew this but hearing a head teacher say it threw me

Good luck. It sounds like you’re doing everything you can to advocate for him. It’s crazy it comes down to one day isn’t it.

Our results are out this week (top choice) and next week. So anxious about it. He is definitely capable but just like you said it hinges on one day and that may not be a reflection of ability at all.

I'm trying to move house, OH is trying to move job, and I'm right in the middle of the busiest six weeks of the year with work. And I'm unable to concentrate on anything other than how long it is until 4pm...

exchanging on house tomorrow 🙏 big birthday wed, results thurs, moving Monday - this is going to be a big/stressful week!
Worried I don’t have a proper back up plan if things don’t go well…

Rosieisfriendlyone · 12/10/2025 22:39

144 here in Bucks and his two best friends passed too.

I also want to say that I’m truly sorry for those whose children didn’t get the result they were hoping for.

bigbum7 · 13/10/2025 07:56

Why are the scores relevant to post for bucks when anyone who has achieved 121 has passed?
I don’t think it makes the parents of children who haven’t achieved 121 feel any better!

troppibambini6 · 13/10/2025 08:43

I’m sorry but I need to just get this out and I can’t in real life. I’m fucking furious….. our first choice school have changed the results day 😡😡😡 it’s gone from the 20th to the 24th. So out of order I thought it would be all over by this time next week and now we will have to wait four more days!

TeamGeriatric · 13/10/2025 09:26

For the Skipton schools, these days they don't tell you your childs score if they pass, the idea being the kids start on an even footing in Year 7 with no bragging about entrance scores. We just got a letter saying daughter had met required standard, it didn't even give the pass mark when she sat a few years ago. You can get your score if you are below the required standard, the parent info from the boys school suggests you have to request the score if they didn't meet the required standard, rather than being in the letter you receive. Still waiting for the postman to bring results, unfortunately the Beano was the only thing to arrive on Saturday.

CheerfulMuddler · 13/10/2025 09:27

DS did not pass his musical aptitude test. This is 100% the result we expected, so he is not bothered in the slightest, but it does mean our back up schools are now much less appealing.
Four days to go. (Yes, I'm counting.)

Ahmawa · 13/10/2025 09:28

Crossley Heath is now showing results out on the 18th, after the changed it to 13th previously. They keep on shifting the dates further out, not leaving much time for parents to make a decision.

Will the results be on applicaa or are they emailed?

CheerfulMuddler · 13/10/2025 09:31

The Blue Coat don't even give you the score if you don't pass, they claim it's commercially sensitive and leads to confusion when parents compare them on social media (probably because they let in a proportion of FSM kids with lower scores). They are notoriously resistant to appeals - you basically get a pass, fail, or reserve list and that's it.

LadyCrazyCatLady · 13/10/2025 10:12

@Ahmawa Crossleys has had 18th on their timetable of admissions for ages however NHGS had 10th showing until the morning of 10th, when they changed it to 18th.

Results for both will presumably have to be released together as it's a joint admissions process - none of them know whether each child wants one or the other.

Then we all got an email via applica on Friday 10th evening saying that the results would be with us by the end of the day today.

I think NHGS made an error, either by printing the wrong results date in the first place or by being overly hopeful about how quickly the turnaround would be from Future Stories.

I'm really hoping that the results come out today as per their email on Friday, but won't be surprised if they're delayed another day or two (both schools now showing 18th as the date we'll all have received results by on their admissions timelines).

Bonus points for those who have made no contribution whatsoever to this thread until now, with their first post being "my child scored 146, is this good?"

WRT back-up plans, I found wine was extremely helpful.

SFV · 13/10/2025 10:51

I'm just cruising along now trying not to think about results day ... we aren't expecting anything until til next Thursday so this week I'll feel fine and then next week I'll be refreshing emails like a maniac, I'm sure!

Somebody else sat St Michael's with us, but I can't remember who! My brain has turned to mush - are you out there??

And when do the threads become too full? I can't remember from the first one, but I'm hoping this one survives u til the end of the month...

HanSB · 13/10/2025 10:52

For any parents of girls that sat HBS round 2 last week, there is a WhatsApp group, please dm me for the link if you would like to join!

ImpatientBlanket · 13/10/2025 10:56

Anyone waiting for the Redbridge 11 plus results? I'm guessing it's another week.
