DS2 has his GCSEs in June. He had mocks in November and more (why??) next month.
He needs to get 5 6s to stay at his current school (IB, not overly keen) or to transfer to another local 6th form.
He said he’s going to start revising this week......
Think his school will be helping him devise a revision timetable this week. I’ve bought him flashcards, he just needs to knuckle down now.......

DS2 said Biology (AQA) was ok, no surprises.
He’s also doing triple science and Biology is his weakest subject.

Biology and German here. She seems happy, said biology (aqa) much better than expected

BonjourCrisette · 16/05/2023 17:39

DD also reports that Edexcel Biology was bloody awful.

I think that's unanimous then!
Onwards and upwards!
Poor things!

Double day for us tomorrow too. English Lit in the morning (Romeo & Juliet and An Inspector Calls), then PE in the afternoon. Inbetween the school are running an hour long PE booster session. Thursday off too - just Maths on Friday.

Got that wrong it’s R&J and A Christmas Carol tomorrow (at least I hope it is as the large whiteboard in the dining room is covered in Scrooge quotes !)

iwantavuvezela · 16/05/2023 18:22

My DD (AQA Higher) felt that large sections that she had studied had no questions, and 1-2 questions are outside of topic area. but she wasn't too upset about it - she is hoping to squeeze a 7 as wants to carry on with some other of the sciences.

Rowgtfc72 · 16/05/2023 18:24

Dd did OCR biology and said it was really easy. She was gutted because she wanted to label the heart- but it was already labelled!
English Lit tomorrow. Macbeth and Christmas Carol

HappiDaze · 16/05/2023 18:26

There were definitely questions outside the topic areas which seems bizarre and very unfair

HappiDaze · 16/05/2023 18:31

English tomorrow should be more straightforward at least

jamimmi · 16/05/2023 18:44

Dd has just said AQA biology higher paper was worryingly easy, she's now worried grade boundaries will be very high. She's after a 9. You just can't win!

kidstaxidriver · 16/05/2023 18:54

DC just having a panic and over the table said “if the Macbeth essay is about kingship I’ve got nothing to write”……. Nothing like last minute YouTube Dr Salles!! 😂🤦‍♀️

NoKnickerElastic · 16/05/2023 19:09

DD said AQA Biology was "not too hard but not too easy" 😃taking that as a positive as she seems pretty chilled. English Lit (her worst) & PE tomorrow!

My daughter said she reckons it is and has been working on a plan for that.

She could however be completely wrong as she has no inside knowledge.

kidstaxidriver · 16/05/2023 19:47

Well this came from kids at school making predictions! However I guess it entirely depends on the exam board again as they all seem so very different! We are WJEC.
they also think it could be on the supernatural…….. Nothing like last minute planning, and it probably won’t even be on that when they turn over the paper 😂

Rowgtfc72 · 16/05/2023 19:58

Dd reckons it will be on masculinity not kingship. Who knows?!

bendmeoverbackwards · 16/05/2023 20:38

Dd didn’t say much about Biology but think it was ok.

Shes got her worst day tomorrow apparently - English Lit (Macbeth and Jeckyl and Hyde) followed by Class Civ in the afternoon. Class Civ she got a 3 in the mock (!), I’m hoping she can get a pass.

megletthesecond · 16/05/2023 20:39

DS was reasonably positive about AQA biology too.
He skipped after school maths booster to come home on time and do some last minute English lit. And then refused to do any. The only English lit I've managed to get him to do at all was listening to podcasts in the car over Easter. I despair.

Is she WJEC for English lit?

Daydreamscometrue · 16/05/2023 20:53

Another one here saying Edexcel Biology was really hard.

Argh @bendmeoverbackwards Jekyll and Hyde must look so tempting as it is short and a lively story but the text is almost opaque. Dd studied it in her final year of an Eng Lit degree!

Just pray for a question where the quote “ape-like fury” can be used Grin

Best of luck to all with Shakespeare and Victorian novel tomorrow.

Homeworkhell82 · 16/05/2023 21:12

My son really struggles with English Lit. I've helped him with some last minute quotes etc. Just hoping he can get a 4 as that would be great.

Homeworkhell82 · 16/05/2023 21:13

I'm exhausted though, I've learnt MB and CC in a few days so I can help him properly, I've got quotes swirling around my head, I keep forgetting it's not actually me doing it!!

kidstaxidriver · 16/05/2023 21:22

I’m worried now! Mine has a Macbeth and poetry. not J and H! I hope he’s not got it wrong!!

So does DS1 (WJEC)

bendmeoverbackwards · 16/05/2023 21:25

Dd does AQA for English.
