i myself have been looking for this thread and have been unsuccessful. Saw a couple people mention it over the past day or so on the 2022 one.

so here we go, albeit a bit late.

has everyone visited all the schools on their lists?

how many schools are everyone applying to?

what schools are you applying to?

how is the preparation going?

i know some exams have taken place, how did they go?

wishing all the whirls good luck with preparation and exams, hope we all find the right schools for our daughters.

Has anyone got anymore results before Christmas due either for interview or place offer? One more exam on Wednesday!

secondaryquandries · 12/12/2022 21:49

Yes we're waiting to hear from Hampton re.interview. Does anyone know how May they invite to interview/offer to?

secondaryquandries · 12/12/2022 21:49

Good luck for the exam @Daydreamscometrue , where is that? Are you waiting to hear from any?

QuiteAJourney · 12/12/2022 21:52

@Daydreamscometrue good luck for Wednesday! (Which one is it? I did not realise there were exams still this week).
We have finished all exams - now left with interviews / group assessments (KGS and WHS). We should hear in early Jan weather progressed to interview /group assessment for Emanuel and also weather progressed to interview at Harrodian. And, then the big reveal in mid Feb!

QuiteAJourney · 12/12/2022 21:54

@secondaryquandries Hope you get good news from Hampton and you get an early Christmas present

Weather = weather (fat fingers on phone and long day!)

And now bloody autocorrect
I meant weather = whether (thankfully DD better than me at proof reading!)

Daydreamscometrue · 12/12/2022 22:03

@QuiteAJourney and @secondaryquandries it's Dulwich on Wednesday followed by Whitgift in January on the same day as an interview at KGS. Looks like Whitgift is in the morning and he's got an afternoon interview at KGS.

Daydreamscometrue · 12/12/2022 22:04

@secondaryquandries good luck for Hampton! When are due to hear?

QuiteAJourney · 12/12/2022 22:10

@Daydreamscometrue I had not realised that Dulwich was this week (I think less popular in my neck of the woods because of transport links).
Quite a start of the year! Not ideal to have two things on same day but good that you are able to do both! Hopefully DS get a bit of a break in between too.
(We are also at KGS in the afternoon of the 6th)

secondaryquandries · 12/12/2022 22:45

@Daydreamscometrue we should hear on Friday.

@Daydreamscometrue and @QuiteAJourney us to re KGS. We can all have a Mumsnet party in the coffee shop!

QuiteAJourney · 12/12/2022 23:03

@secondaryquandries Indeed! I have to say that the reference to refreshments in the café in the interview invite makes it sound very civilised (I think their whole admissions process has been really well thought through).

secondaryquandries · 12/12/2022 23:14

@QuiteAJourney yes the cafe is a definite perk! Especially when compared to standing outside in the cold!

QuiteAJourney · 13/12/2022 18:15

Good luck to those taking Dulwich tomorrow!

Daydreamscometrue · 13/12/2022 20:25

@QuiteAJourney thank you! Fingers crossed.

secondaryquandries · 13/12/2022 21:04

Good luck @Daydreamscometrue

Daydreamscometrue · 13/12/2022 21:08

@secondaryquandries many thanks!

confu5ed · 13/12/2022 21:28

Good luck to all with exams tomorrow. x

Did anyone notice how Francis Holland, Sloane Square climbed up the rankings this year and is now nationally amongst the top 20 schools? Surbiton high is on the same path. I am sure they didn’t select the brightest DDs a few years back to produce such stellar GCSE & A level results. Further proves to me that a “back-up/safe school” of today can quickly become a top ranked school in a couple of years. Or Vice Versa.

On a similar note, I find it so funny when a school makes a 10-11 year old go through 2-3 stages of all kinds of tests to select the smartest child and then claims “oh, we produce the best results!” Like : duuh, the kids they choose are likely to do well in any school with sufficient resources.

It’s a diddy little secondary school with a tiny sixth form cohort so will fluctuate quite a bit from year to year.

QuiteAJourney · 13/12/2022 21:50

@Daydreamscometrue good luck to your DS for tomorrow!

Daydreamscometrue · 13/12/2022 21:56

@QuiteAJourney thanks!

LondonMum20222 · 14/12/2022 09:10

Quick question: Did anyone sit the Sutton Grammar mock exam even though they weren't entering for the school? I've heard it's a good mock for DDs to do, whether or not they're actually sitting that school (because so many kids do it, you get a good sense of their place in a large cohort, as well as the usual individualised strengths and weaknesses.) I wondered if anyone had done it and would recommend (or not!) Thanks!

secondaryquandries · 14/12/2022 09:39

Yes my son did. I think it is worthwhile. It gives an idea of top line maths and English scores relative to a cohort of sitters. So a prompt as to which subject requires more focus. It also is an exam in a big hall setting which gets the children used to that unfamiliar setting.
