i myself have been looking for this thread and have been unsuccessful. Saw a couple people mention it over the past day or so on the 2022 one.

so here we go, albeit a bit late.

has everyone visited all the schools on their lists?

how many schools are everyone applying to?

what schools are you applying to?

how is the preparation going?

i know some exams have taken place, how did they go?

wishing all the whirls good luck with preparation and exams, hope we all find the right schools for our daughters.

DS too unwell to go to Claremont this morning. Coughing every 30 seconds and streaming nose. I don’t know what to do.

I’ve emailed the admissions people this morning but not heard anything.

no mobile number to call, no one I can get in touch with.

at the bottom of the email it says

“Please note that we are no longer able to make any changes to the time and date of your child's exams.”

does that mean that’s it?

no alternative date?

Should I take him dosed up with paracetamol and lots of cough sweets and tissues.

There was nothing in the email about what to do if your child is unwell on the day.

Terrified that that’s another one we can’t hope for. So so so stressful.

Sorry, quote fail. I was answering this. There is a mobile number on the yr 7 admissions page, link should be in the email.

You're amazing!! Thank you so much. I got through just now. Why didn't I see this myself? Another fail!!

Damn process is so stressful without illness on top.

Someone picked up and thanked me for letting them know and said they'd had about a dozen today who hadn't been able to make it due to colds/coughs so hopefully there will be an extra date for the poorly ones!

They wouldn't confirm it though. Scary!

Fingers tightly crossed.

No problem- glad you managed to speak to them. I had to phone this morning too due to vomiting child! So stressful. She said they’d come up with a contingency plan x

Oh no!! I hope DC recovers soon. Poor thing! Thanks again. It's calmed me right down now I've been able to get through. Can get on with my weekend and DC can on with getting better! x

QuiteAJourney · 03/12/2022 13:13

@Geville @bettyjane so sorry to hear that your DC were not well. Hope they recover soon and you get an alternative date.

@Geville @bettyjane so sorry to hear that your DC were not well. Hope they recover soon and you get an alternative date.

Thanks so much QuiteAJourney and congratulations on your recent successes! I imagine it's been great to have some good news.

I think SnowQueen had a rejection for SHS - so sorry to hear that SnowQueen. Rejections are the hardest but these tests often throw up challenging results for everyone, nearly everyone will get at least one rejection - we had the same with KGS but hopefully there won't be anymore or at least there will be some good news coming soon too. Wishing you and your DD all the best for the final two coming up. x

Dallasdays · 03/12/2022 13:33

Sorry to hear about the poorly DC - hope they feel better soon. We are just back from Claremont and it was very well organised and a pleasant experience. We are done with tests apart from one after Xmas, thank goodness!

Geville · 03/12/2022 13:40

That must be so nice Dallasdays. Congrats on finishing up for now, you can finally have a bit of a rest. Good to hear Claremont was pleasant. I hear a lot of good things about the school and it's one of our favourites.

hollyferry · 03/12/2022 13:44

Well done on all those who ave finished exams, at least until January.

Did anyone sit for Hampton and what was the feedback on difficulty level? Please don't post specifics as they are still holding exams this week end and through the week.

QuiteAJourney · 03/12/2022 13:48

@Dallasdays well done! Enjoy the break

Daydreamscometrue · 03/12/2022 13:55

@Dallasdays glad it went well at Claremont. Enjoy your break! We have three more before Christmas and one after.

I heard VR was very hard. Everything else ok.

KindergartenKop · 03/12/2022 15:01

@hollyferry my DS said it was harder than KGS

secondaryquandries · 03/12/2022 15:40

@hollyferry for my ds vr hard, maths quite hard but some fun ones, English he enjoyed.

Dallasdays · 03/12/2022 17:18

QuiteAJourney · 03/12/2022 13:48

@Dallasdays well done! Enjoy the break

Thanks everyone - good luck with the remaining exams all. This is such a slog!

Trickleg · 03/12/2022 17:58

Claremont sounded fun - an activity room with juggling and Rubik’s cubes and a world class table of snacks. Less feedback received on actual exams.

secondaryquandries · 03/12/2022 18:21

Yes we heard good things about Claremont snacks though not about the games room. My son sat kcs and Claremont today and verdicts were:
Kcs. Maths very hard and time pressured. English fine, fairly challenging but as expected, VR fairly easy.
Claremont. Math fairly easy. English fine comp and essay. Non VR very hard and time pressured.

KCS was also in a large exam hall and was quite a strict environment which he was not so keen on. Though both had good snacks!

secondaryquandries · 03/12/2022 18:22

We done for your daughter @QuiteAJourney. That's great news!!

QuiteAJourney · 03/12/2022 18:34

@secondaryquandries - many thanks!

AC7001 · 03/12/2022 18:42

Quite strange as my son found:
Hampton: Math very hard, VR moderately hard, English easy
KCS: Math quite easy, VR quite hard, English ok

Daydreamscometrue · 03/12/2022 18:43

@secondaryquandries a few of DS's friends sat KCS today. When do you find out about interviews? Is it similar to SPS?

AC7001 · 03/12/2022 18:45

And for Math:
for the Hampton paper only 1 person he knows knew how to do each question and can complete the paper (so supposedly only careless mistakes from full marks)
For the KCS paper: almost every one completed with time to spare, though most were caught by 1 or 2 questions and didn't know how to do, the rest are easy.

KindergartenKop · 03/12/2022 18:47

@secondaryquandries my son found the reasoning paper for Claremont very long too, he didn't finish. But said the others were ok. Snacks definitely the best but he didn't realise you were allowed two sausage rolls so was disappointed.

hollyferry · 03/12/2022 19:02

Gosh quite varied feedback. Thanks all. Did anyone finish Hampton Maths paper?

KindergartenKop · 03/12/2022 20:07

@hollyferry at Hampton my DS found the last few maths questions tough and couldn't do some, but didn't run out of time iyswim.

In the maths paper they will add fiendish ones on the end to distinguish between the very good and the excellent candidates. This is helpful for scholarships etc.
