Trinity/Whitgift 2021 entry

I have found the previous threads for Trinity/Whitgift entry really helpful, and I don’t think there is a 2021 yet. My son will be trying for 10+, and for a sports scholarship. He is bright, and pleased to be back training for his sports, but he gets really stressed in exam situations and works slowly. He is only trying Trinity this year because he is not at all sure he wants to leave his primary school, but if he managed to get a scholarship I think he might decide to go.

I was hoping the activity on the exam day might help motivate him, but we got the email saying it wouldn’t be happening because of Covid. Can I ask if anyone had more success at 11+ than 10+? Do they ever offer academic and sports scholarships? I am assuming that we will more have the issue of him getting stressed in the exam, and not passing, than standing a chance of a scholarship, but just thinking of best possible scenario Wink. Thanks!

I got it a few days ago - will try to copy and paste it for you x

Dear Parents

Following the latest Government advice on 30th December which permit school admissions tests to take place, we are happy to confirm that the entrance assessments will be proceeding as planned. We are looking forward to welcoming your son to Trinity School to sit his entrance examinations on Saturday, 9th January.

Please can we remind you that if your son is displaying any COVID-19 symptoms (a temperature, a persistent cough, a loss of taste or smell) on the day of the assessment or during the previous two days, or has been requested to isolate by their school / Test and Trace, or is awaiting a test result he SHOULD NOT ATTEND. Please contact us and we will discuss alternative arrangements.

It is important that you have read the instructions that we sent to you about the examination day so that your son feels as prepared as possible for his time spent with us. Please can we remind you that we are unable to lend any items, including pens and pencils, so it essential your son brings his own. We would prefer that he not bring a bag on to site for safety reasons and we therefore suggest he brings his examination equipment in a pencil case or clear pouch. Could we please remind you that your son must bring his own hand sanitiser in the form of gel or wipes. We will be providing snacks and drinks and your son should therefore not need to bring lunch. We would remind you that Trinity is a nut-free school and any additional snacks brought on site should adhere to this requirement.

If you are arriving by car please note that we have a one way system entering school via the Addiscombe Road entrance and exiting via the main gates onto Shirley Road. In line with DfE advice parents will not be able to get out of their cars whilst on site. Boys will be directed by Trinity staff to the School entrance. We ask that you adhere closely to the timings you have been given, as detailed in the attachment in our previous email. If you are arriving by public transport your son will be directed from the Addiscombe Road gates.

Please ensure that you are available to collect your son at the time stated on your instructions. As at drop-off, please remain in your car and your son will come to you. For those parents on foot, please meet your son at the Addiscombe Road entrance gates.

In light of the current Government guidelines we ask that all candidates wear their face coverings at all times on the school site in the communal areas and, where they are able to do so, during the tests. May we also remind you that your son will need to be able to dress warmly throughout the examinations as it will be necessary to have the rooms well ventilated.

Kind regards

The Lower School Admissions Team

Does anyone know when we hear about whitgift 10 plus results?

2morasmum · 02/01/2021 08:28

Thank you @Mayday1990 for posting it!

Regarding W: "Parents will be emailed by beginning/middle of January by the Admissions Office and invited to select an interview date and time. Interviews will take place between Wednesday 13 and Wednesday 27 January 2021. Those boys being considered for an Academic, Art, Drama, Design Technology and Engineering, Music or Sport Scholarship place will be invited to attend an assessment/audition day during that time. Results for all boys invited for interview will be posted on Thursday 11 February 2021"

So results should be arriving by post Friday 12/Sat 13th Feb

To reassure those doing 10+ at T, only the children of key workers and vulnerable children will be on site next week so there will be plenty of space for your sons. Everyone else is being taught online next week. Good luck - it's a great school!

LillyD · 02/01/2021 18:43

Hi, has anyone got rejections from Whitgift yet. We have heard nothing. Trying to work out of there is any hope....

LillyD · 02/01/2021 18:44

I meant the 11+ btw

Jumpalicious · 02/01/2021 18:58

@LillyD we haven’t heard either. Pretty sure they’ve not contacted anyone (?) apart from sports/music etc scholarship people and those with sibs. Ready to be corrected on this!

LillyD · 02/01/2021 19:00

Thanks Jumpalicious. Tightly crossing fingers.

I am so relieved they are doing it in school! I know he would really have struggled to focus at home. Also DS hasn’t been able to step foot inside and I am hoping the exam will be a positive experience. I have no idea how he will do. I have everything crossed he gets called for a sports scholarship (which would mean he must have done okay in the exam). Not long now!

@LillyD and @Jumpalicious - We too are waiting to hear from W 11+. DS applied for W11+ and some selective 13+ London day schools. DS has been called back and had interviews for 13+ on the back of ISEB so have fingers crossed that we hear from W shortly. Hope this info helps others :) but it would be great to hear when others receive communications. good luck

We have heard back from Whitgift for the 11 plus and had to choose an interview place.

The invite said online interviews take place throughout January.

In addition as we applied for a scholarship in my mind it makes sense they interview us quickly if they need an audition / sports assessment in person.

Hold tight everyone.

divebomber · 03/01/2021 19:02

In case it helps people I found the emails in my junk folder - so make sure you do a search on Whitgift in case you need to fish it out of your junk folder or trash can! Good luck Smile

EnolanotAlone · 04/01/2021 13:13

According to reliable sources there have been no interview, next stages emails sent out for W 11+ as yet. There are a few key dates coming up of which they are working towards. Relax your digits on refreshing emails for updates - your welcome!

JustJuice187 · 04/01/2021 17:12

@Mayday1990 did that come before Christmas - most schools are now doing virtual exams?

JustJuice187 · 04/01/2021 17:20

Has anyone heard from T re interviews?

divebomber · 04/01/2021 18:25

I definitely got an email invite to a Whitgift school interview - it is online. But it was right before the end of term so I am sure there will be more invites sent.

divebomber · 04/01/2021 18:25

For my son not me obviously.

Jumpalicious · 04/01/2021 18:38

Yep, but the only interview invitations sent out seem to be for those that have applied for scholarships/have brothers in the school already.

divebomber · 04/01/2021 18:38

Yes - that is what I think too.

As if you apply the sports they need to arrange an assessment don't they? Goodness knows what will happen now?

divebomber · 04/01/2021 18:39

I mean for the sports assessment, but at least they changed things around and went online for interviews so they can still get through everything.

Also I am so glad the exam was before Christmas not after!

divebomber · 04/01/2021 18:40

So just hang tight - I am sure they will contact everyone in due course! Good luck WSmile

mootime · 04/01/2021 21:03

I spoke to Trinity this morning. They are hoping to get back to people either way by next week.

divebomber · 04/01/2021 23:52

Dulwich college - due to have an in person exam tomorrow has postponed.

St Olaves- due to have in person exam tomorrow has postponed.

divebomber · 04/01/2021 23:53

I know it is not a thread about those two schools. What a stressful time of it the kids have had this year.
