I've read through lots of chat re 2019 but can't see a 2020 10/11+ 2020 thread. How are your DS's getting on?

OP posts:
Anno7 · 13/01/2020 13:06

Still nothing here!

Birdey77 · 13/01/2020 13:21

No news from whitgift here either. So stressful!

Adaryn · 13/01/2020 13:28

Nothing here either. I panic every time I get an email!

Delices · 13/01/2020 13:30

I know we’re all in same boat good to know i’m Not alone can’t concentrate on anything 😐

LuluBellLondon · 13/01/2020 13:35

Ha. Me neither. Pretty useless at work.

Hopefulmum72 · 13/01/2020 13:38

Me too.... Anyone waiting on Trinity? Or have heard of anyone being called from Trinity? Driving me nuts!

jasmine372 · 13/01/2020 14:02

Everytime my phone rings I jump a mile ! Even taking it to loo with me .

Hopefulmum72 · 13/01/2020 14:12

Enpot2007 · 13/01/2020 14:13

Try not to panic everyone. Last year we heard about a week after the exam. We heard about sports scholarship after. What I didn’t realise at the time is that you can still pass the exam and not be called to try for a sports scholarship. I thought they saw everyone who applied but at W they don’t. You should receive a letter or email either way. So if you do get it you’ve done well. There are different scholarships too some come with a fee reduction and others don’t. Best of luck to everyone.

Re football some of the boys in Y7 A and B squads are at academies and some aren’t.

Delices · 13/01/2020 14:33

Thanks that’s so reassuring

eagle92 · 13/01/2020 15:41

Hi guys I literally cannot function from the stress of having to wait!! Any news from Trinity or Whitgift this afternoon?

SoupDragon · 13/01/2020 15:49

Wait til it's offers day... 😂😂

Delices · 13/01/2020 15:56

I will post when I hear for good or bad - it’s going to be an intense week I think. Very exhausted am good for no one at work either

eagle92 · 13/01/2020 15:59

Thank you, Delices! I will do too.

Hopefulmum72 · 13/01/2020 16:12

I will too... Hard when we cannot hear anything right?

chalkyc2 · 13/01/2020 16:24

Nothing here from T either! If nothing else would be nice to be able to plan work/meetings etc for the next couple of weeks without thinking maybe will/won't be able to make it! We applied for sports assessment as well at T - has anyone heard anything about that?
However DS just finished his last exam today so he's happy!

Abirdinthehand23 · 13/01/2020 17:10

Enpot2007 is correct. You can be invited for the sports/music/art/drama assessments and still not be offered a place.

Another scenario is that you can also NOT be invited to a sport or music ssessment and still be offered a place.

T do tend to call everyone for sport whereas W don't.

PopGoesTheWeaz · 13/01/2020 17:33

And my understanding is that if you have applied for two scholarships - say music and art - these are run from their respective departments so there wouldn't a coordinated invite

Enpot2007 · 13/01/2020 18:13

Just a bit of Whitgift news. My son says all the Y7 boys will help with the interview process starting on Wednesday. Basically, a Y7 will greet parent/s and your child. Where possible it might be a boy that went to your child’s school. It also gives your son and you an op to ask any questions. The boy will also stay with your child while you are having your chat with a teacher. It’s a nice touch and not all schools do this. Interviews take place over 12 days he reckons. And allegedly there are loads of boys being interviewed across several years. So, just sit tight. Leave your emails aloneGrin. Actually I was probably worse. As @SoupDragon says wait until offers day! I was a mess!!!

JustJuice187 · 13/01/2020 20:43

The 11plus for T was only a week ago, so don't panic just yet! It takes time to get through that many boys! No news is good news until you hear otherwise!

PopGoesTheWeaz · 13/01/2020 22:05

Just rereading the info t gave us (in Dec and day of test) and it's all a bit contradictory. One said they'll post letters if applicant is unsuccessful and the other says email. But both say week commencing Jan 13th rather than day of Jan 13th so looks like we may have a bit more waiting yet.

Hopefulmum72 · 13/01/2020 22:40

Last year my DS attended the 10+ at Trinity and we got the NO email 5 days after the exam.

They then followed up a few days later with a letter in the post... So has anyone received any email?

Were they coming out today or not?

Thanks all.

eagle92 · 14/01/2020 09:34

Hopefulmum72 - we've still not heard anything from either T nor W:(

enterparentone · 14/01/2020 10:16

Last year T 10+ was on Sat 5th Jan. Some people were called quickly for interviews the next week. A bulk of people were emailed on the evening of Thursday 10th Jan confirming boys had done well enough for an interview and parents would be called within next 2 weeks to arrange. We didn't get a call for over another week (for an interview the following week), but it was ok as at least we knew it was coming. People we knew who had applied for co-curricular scholarships were included in the bulk email, however the boy we knew who was offered an academic scholarship was called sooner so maybe they prioritise those families - maybe they want to make a better impression to try and tempt them to accept their offer rather than others?

eagle92 · 14/01/2020 10:37

enterparentone - that makes sense because a boy we know was called last Friday (a day after the exam) to be invited for an academic assessment day, although his surname also begins with "A"...
