I've read through lots of chat re 2019 but can't see a 2020 10/11+ 2020 thread. How are your DS's getting on?

OP posts:
KandCa · 20/01/2020 08:33

Does anyone know if for the W Sports Scholarsip day they need to wear school.umiform or PE/games uniform? It does not make sense to me they going in in Uniform and then getting changed straight after....

Yey22 · 20/01/2020 08:56

@ KandCa last year my son went in uniform and changed as this was requested on the letter. He did swimming prior to breakfast on the day.

KandCa · 20/01/2020 10:11

Thanks @Yey22 . My DS is not doing swimming though but ok... are they given lockers to put their own stuff in? or how will it work since it is a school day and I am sure the changing rooms will be needed for the older boys...

Thanks!

JustJuice187 · 20/01/2020 10:21

@Breathe10 - yes there are a few 10plus lurkers here - including me!

Enpot2007 · 20/01/2020 10:55

@KandCa yes go in uniform if they have asked for it. My son did it last year. No they are not given lockers but everything will be kept secure and rooms locked. There is no need to bring anything valuable, you just need kit. W run a slick operation and are used to having people coming to the school and huge sporting events. To put it into perspective a couple of weeks ago it hosted hockey, football and rugby matches at home as well as an U16 and U18 indoor hockey tournament all on the same day. They have more than one changing room. Yes it’s a school day and the school will operate as normal as far as I’m aware. If boys move forward to the next round of assessments they don’t come in uniform as this round is quick. Good luck with it. My son had a brilliant day.

KandCa · 20/01/2020 11:14

Thanks @Enpot2007 , feeling more reassured.

They have asked for different indoors and outdoors boots and am wondering if he has to take all 4 pairs.... flat, astro, football and rugby boots...

chalkyc2 · 20/01/2020 11:22

My DS is at the T sports assessment today and I've sent him with indoor and outdoor trainers and Astro's and rugby boots - just in case!!

Enpot2007 · 20/01/2020 12:18

@KandCa - you’re welcome Smile. Last year my son took rugby boots and trainers. His trainers were fine on Astro. His rugby boots were also fine for football. Take whatever you feel your son will be comfortable with. He’ll have to carry them with him as I’m not sure if they can keep going in and out of the changing room. Best of luck. They make it fun and hopefully he’ll see some familiar faces who sat the exam too.

Is anyone still waiting for a callback regarding T10+ interview? Lots of people appear to have gotten calls following the bulk email and I'm still anxiously waiting but wondering if my son's kind of slipped through the net! Shall I give it a few more days before a follow up call?

piupiu · 20/01/2020 13:15

Hi @Frazzledmom
We got a call Sat afternoon for 10+ interview this Sat but no follow up email or letter to confirm the time or format yet. (Not sure if they even send them?)
If you had the email last week saying your son has definitely got an interview then I'd give it a couple more days and if you still haven't heard Id call.
We're still waiting for confirmation on a drama audition for Thursday but have been told verbally that our DS will be invited to it.
They've obviously got loads of different moving parts to process - especially if the admissions teams are working every Saturday in January which it seems like they are!

Has anyone had a confirmed time for Trinity drama audition Thursday afternoon yet? Or are all the drama scholarship applicants for 10+ and 11+ all seen together for the whole afternoon?

Brrrr10 · 20/01/2020 13:55

Also 10+ here waiting for T interview date. Email last week said it can take up to 2 weeks! I keep jumping when the phone rings/email buzzes! Have most 10+ had the date/time already?

chalkyc2 · 20/01/2020 13:59

We're still waiting for an 11+ interview time....

Invers45 · 20/01/2020 14:00

Is anyone still waiting to hear about W 11+? I just want to know either way - it’s very stressful waiting.

Frazzledmom · 20/01/2020 14:22

Thank you @piupiu, I'll leave it till the end of the week and follow up.

@Brrrr10 I know some who've had calls confirming date and time for T interviews and I know a few who have already had their interviews.

Waiting continues....and the intense nail-biting!

Brrrr10 · 20/01/2020 14:29

@frazzledmom it's hard waiting to hear especially if you know others that have had their interview already! This process is intense.

Delices · 20/01/2020 15:16

We are still waiting but w ehavebt been invited to sports scholarship and have been told that we were in sports scholarship list which means my son hasn’t been ‘successful ‘ or as successful as the others in exams - although W have said that doesn’t mean he isn’t gong to be asked for interview and to wait. It’s incredibly frustrating and I fee quote wound up with the process I wish they would just put us out of our misery. Sorry not very inspiring post as I am not sure I agree with the process they are putting us through.

eagle92 · 20/01/2020 15:22

@Invers45 - we are still waiting to hear from W... I wonder if any rejections have been sent out or are they just going to do that in bulk at the end of the month?! The wait is killing me...

Invers45 · 20/01/2020 15:53

@eagle92 I have just called W as I couldn’t take it anymore. They said that they are still sending emails regarding interviews on a daily basis. They said parents will be informed either way by the end of the month. I assume they will do the rejections in bulk at the end. Good Luck and keep us updated as will I.

eagle92 · 20/01/2020 16:00

@Invers45 - thank you so much for being brave enough to call them up! Sounds like there might still be some hope... Good luck to you too!!

Enpot2007 · 20/01/2020 16:05

Speaking as someone who went through this last year I feel all your pain. But just hang on in there. W and other schools have lots of children to interview and add all the scholarship assessments on top if that. It’s a huge operation and to be honest I think they do it pretty well. I know you just want to know and the waiting is horrible. But that’s all you can do. Trust me the school is working flat out and the Y6 and 7 boys are on a rota to welcome everyone that has an interview. And W has to function for current pupils as well.

Also if your son doesn’t get a scholarship, for sports, and you receive a place at the school next month. He will still get to play loads of sports and compete for squads. If he’s good at sports you can always argue for a scholarship later. I do hope you get some news soon as I follow this thread with interest. Fingers crossed to all those still waiting.

Carrotandginger · 20/01/2020 18:24
