Maddieella - yes same for us too!
Reading prep has been given for her economics only so far!

srilankadreaming · 09/06/2019 16:15

Well done Pipandson for your DS getting a job placement already for his apprenticeship, that's great!
DD also flagging. To be fair after 4 exams in 2 days on Thurs and Fri she was exhausted but got up and did nearly 5 hours of Weimar and Nazi Germany yesterday. Today she has both Maths and Physics tutoring ( her choice) and now I haven't the heart to ask her to do much more. She is flaked out on the bed. She has Food and Nutrition in the morning which hopefully won't be too bad but then Maths/ History on Tues. So will be working on those tomorrow . But when to revise Chemistry? If only it was on Thurs and not Wed :(

Iambuffy · 09/06/2019 16:22

Friday can't come soon enough!

Its ds1s 16th b day on Thursday.

It'll be a low key one.

cantkeepawayforever · 09/06/2019 16:26

The agony goes on until next Monday for us...

And Friday is the 3 exam day, so this exam season is a gift that just keeps on giving...

chocolateworshipper · 09/06/2019 16:32

4 exams left here, but once Maths is done on Tuesday the pressure is really off for DD. Good luck to everyone for the final push.

steppemum · 09/06/2019 16:34

Oh the final stretch!

ds had to choose A levels in feb, but has changed one, and I think there is space to switch.

He hasn't a clue what he wants to do. Was going to do engineering, now he is looking at economics.
Really he needs to get into business.

not sure how much revision is going on, I have only seen ds as he headed out to the gym and back in again!

Iambuffy · 09/06/2019 16:40

3 exams on one day!?

Oh, how awful. Ugh.

cantkeepawayforever · 09/06/2019 16:48

Yes, Iambuffy! As 2 are a clash, it also means a whole chunk of isolation / special arrangements....

One of DD's school's main languages is a minority one (just over 1000 entrants for the GCSE in total nationwide), and probably understandably it's one of the two subjects involved in the clash.

Iambuffy · 09/06/2019 16:57

Oh blimey.

TabbyStar · 09/06/2019 17:53

We've had a day out, instead of staying at home and promising to revise and then not bothering and feeling bad about it, I thought we'd just cut out the middle stage and not revise but have done something nice. If only I'd figured that out four weeks ago it might have all been less traumatic...!

Parsley65 · 09/06/2019 18:00

Final push here with revision.
DD's school starts with 4 subjects and still does AS level, so she's opting for maths, physics, psychology and business.
She's doing NCS over the summer so that takes care of August!
Before that it's a week of prom prep Grin, a week of work experience and a family holiday.
Good luck next week to everyone - the end is in sight...

raspberryrippleicecream · 09/06/2019 18:40

DS has 3 weeks then NCS, but there are 2 days of sixth form induction in there, as well as Prom.

We have a week's family holiday after that, then DS has a summer school in one of his activities as his post GCSE treat. He comes back the day before results so the summer doesn't seem too bad. Plus he has activities outside school that haven't finished and he has some catching up to do with them.

Iambuffy · 09/06/2019 18:44

Ds1 has 4 weeks at home til ds2 breaks up (hence our marathon marvel a thon plans!)
Then we have a weeks holiday.
Then he has plans with friends, he is volunteering and has 2 x 6th form induction days.
It'll fly by, no doubt.

readyforsunshine · 09/06/2019 19:22

Maddiella same here, looking forwRd to maths, chemistry & physics, strange child!!

TacoLover · 09/06/2019 20:09

What are everyone's DC doing for work experience?

gleegeek · 09/06/2019 20:48

We've still got 9 exams to go, so feels very much like business as usual here but with a lot less energy! Dd has been doing food tech and history revision today. She's completely ignored maths which worries e as she needs at least a 6 to be able to do some of her a-level choices (biology, psychology and ancient history). She's tempted by AS German but is concerned it'll all be native speakers. Im hoping she'll have a trial when she goes for her college day as I know she'll miss doing a language.
She did work experience in our local museum last year and has continued there for her silver d of e volunteering. I suspect she'll find herself down there in the summer as boredom sets in!
She's going camping with friends for a couple of nights after exams finish, then prom and college trial day and then d of e expedition. We're then on holiday for 2 weeks - can't wait! No firm plans after 22nd July but will visit neglected family members at the weekends. Later in august we've got the builders in which will no doubt stop lie ins - am anticipating lots of stroppiness Grin

chocolateworshipper · 09/06/2019 20:55

Taco DD's school don't do work experience, but she organised her own and has done 2 lots related to her future career.

pointythings · 09/06/2019 21:08

We do work experience towards the end of Yr 12, so that isn't on the horizon for us. We don't need for either of DDs to get a summer job - we don't need the income and they do need the rest. I also suspect the summer may involve a few medical appointments to find out what's going on with DD2's joint pains.

We've got 4 exams to go here, and no exams tomorrow so that will be a heavy revision day at school. DD2 has a summer cold, which is great timing Hmm, but at least the end is in sight.

myrtleWilson · 09/06/2019 21:18

we've had a very relaxed weekend... went out to dinner last night - was lovely!
DD back on revision tomorrow.

She has work experience two weeks after her exams finish and is going to a big legal firm near here.

And am planning a last minute holiday - we're thinking Bilbao so if anyone has any insider knowledge hit me up!

Iambuffy · 09/06/2019 21:26

Ds did work experience this time last year

DeRigueurMortis · 09/06/2019 21:48

Nothing planned for work experience here.

DS has been sure of his A Level choices but beyond that he's not got any firm vocation.

He's flipping between academia and programming and then admitting he's not got a clue. Frankly I think that's fine. I had no idea what I wanted as a career after university never mind after GCSE's.

Tbh until we know how he's done it's all a bit hard to plan for.

ROZ12 · 09/06/2019 23:13

chocolateworshipper- very impressive my dd would never be motivated to do that she wants to have fun and sleep ! She will be doing Ncs in August!

Iambuffy · 10/06/2019 07:23

Good luck everyone...its the final leg!

behindlocknumbernine · 10/06/2019 07:37

Dd did work experience this time last year, and she has her regular Saturday morning job (which will extend into Sunday mornings too come September). She'll be doing holiday cover over the summer months on top of her Saturday morning so will pick up some extra money which will come in handy.

No exams today, so will be studying as this week is a heavy week for her with all her weakest subjects (apart from German) squashed together. Her motivation has run out - she struggled to revise this weekend as 'my head hurts, I can't possibly remember anything else, I can't concentrate'.

Good luck to those who have exams today.

NoClueWithStyle · 10/06/2019 07:43

Final push everyone. Good luck to all.

Just leaving some biscuits and chocolate for people to help themselves as needed....🍫🍪🍫🍪
