Is there a thread yet for parents with kids doing entrance exams in Jan? It's been so helpful looking through previous years threads and now we're going through it I'd love a hand-hold and any advice on what to expect!

No contact yet. Have any 10+ parents heard yet?

I am so tempted to give them a call myself!!!

PeekaPeeka · 10/01/2019 12:24

Good luck to everyone waiting for phone calls. So glad I'm not going through it again this year!

Bondi the fact that you are scheduled to meet the headmaster is great news - it probably means your DS did extremely well in the exams.

And don't worry at all about it - Mr Kennedy is really nice Smile My husband asked him whether he was sure he'd got the right child, when we were told he was in the top 10, so I'm sure you can't say anything much more stupid than that Grin

Chelsea3 · 10/01/2019 12:25

Just dropped my DS to Whitgift 10+ today, and I'm even more anxious!!

Bondiboo74 · 10/01/2019 12:53

Thanks Peeka. I shall try very hard not to say anything stupid.

Motheroftw0 and anyone else waiting, I am sure your call will be coming very soon. Easy to say but hang on in there.

Chelsea3, hope today goes well for your DS.

Motheroftw0 · 10/01/2019 13:04

Thanks Bondiboo, good luck for tomorrow am sure it will go very well.

Chelsea3 · 10/01/2019 13:18

Thank you Boondiboo. Wishing you all the best for tomorrow.

accrobat · 10/01/2019 13:50

Does anyone know if there’s a thread for Dulwich 11+ this year? Thanks all

Wimbles101 · 10/01/2019 14:13

Hi Bondiboo - yes an interview with the HM, Mr. K is indeed a good sign. We had this too - he'll give you his results.

It's really worth the wait - DS1 loves the school.

Re. giving a call - yes why not - I think I did that and it just gives you a heads up on where they are with it. They do have a lot of people to call and see.

gambaspilpil · 10/01/2019 14:46

Good luck everyone. I went though it last year...

enterparentone · 10/01/2019 15:53

Are rejection letters posted tomorrow? If post is clear does that mean a call will definitely be coming? Never thought I'd feel so stressed!

OP posts:
Chelsea3 · 10/01/2019 16:28

The information given was 'letters will be sent by 14th Jan'. So I'm assuming we would receive by then! Altho my DS does have a scholarship assessment booked for 15th Jan. Not sure to wait for letter or call on Monday 14th. The question still remains of which comes first, exam results or assessment dates. It would seem pointless of attending assessments if DS hasn't done as well in tests, also went to avoid giving him false hopes! Confused

Loveandlaugh · 10/01/2019 16:48

Hi.My DS sat the Whitgift exam today, I had brief chat with deputy who told me 210 sat for 10+ today and they take on around 60! Phone rang whilst talking.. a Bristol number so assumed it wasn't trinity.. so didn't answer.. to say I'm anxious is a slight understatement!

Motheroftw0 · 10/01/2019 16:53

OMG Loveandlaugh, I got a call from a Bristol number too. I first thought it was T, but then 0117 number n said Bristol. However no response when I answered.

enterparentone · 10/01/2019 16:56

a friend just messaged to say someone she knows has a 10+ interview. At least there's movement from Trinity!

OP posts:
calpop · 10/01/2019 18:53

Hmmmmm I had a missed call from a Bristol number on Monday! When I called back it said, and still says "number not recognised' I hope that wanst some weird system Trinity are using

Im also confused about the scholarship auditions. Do we just assume they're on if no phonecall.

enterparentone · 10/01/2019 19:22

Check your email 🤞

OP posts:
Motheroftw0 · 10/01/2019 19:31

No email!

Chelsea3 · 10/01/2019 19:41

So I gave in... and couldn't resist!! I called the school using the scholarship angle. I was advised that they are working 'flat out and to wait to hear back from the school tomorr late afternoon. The representing department (for scholarships) be in touch. The waiting game continues...

calpop · 10/01/2019 19:48

Just had the email!! Thank you enterparentone! And relax .....

Chelsea3 · 10/01/2019 19:50

Also seen the email. DS got to interview stage!

walkingtheplank · 10/01/2019 20:18

We've had the interview email too. Am so happy Smile

It's very considerate that they do this.

enterparentone · 10/01/2019 20:22

Interview here too. Phew! Anyone know numbers for interview/offers?

What should we expect at interview? Previous threads are confusing for Whitgift vs trinity interviews. Will there be academic questions?

OP posts:
Chelsea3 · 10/01/2019 20:43

Trinity have a total number of 45 spaces for 10+ entry. When I made initial calls they informed me they interview 50-60% of children who applied. I don't know how many kids there were in total but guesstimate would be around 200 mark.

Keen for previous parents to share trinity interview tips and experience.Smile

gambaspilpil · 10/01/2019 20:52

enterparentone my DS was given some mental math questions at interview. They were quite relaxed to be fair. He was asked about sport (he is very sporty) he enjoys and what he does in his spare time. He was also asked why he liked We were asked ‘why whitgift’ at interview too. Good luck to you all.
