Is there a thread yet for parents with kids doing entrance exams in Jan? It's been so helpful looking through previous years threads and now we're going through it I'd love a hand-hold and any advice on what to expect!

Just had Trinity call to interview on Friday!

Motheroftw0 · 09/01/2019 13:02

Wow congratulations, thanks for posting the update.

Bondiboo74 · 09/01/2019 13:08

Good luck all.

Motheroftw0 · 09/01/2019 13:14

If you don't mind was that an interview for 10 plus or 11 plus?

enterparentone · 09/01/2019 13:14

Lovely news bondi! Well done your DS!

11+. Thank you both. So proud that he’s got this far

Chelsea3 · 09/01/2019 13:24

Congrats... roll on 10+ calls. Good luck!!

Motheroftw0 · 09/01/2019 13:25

Very happy for you, DS must've done really well to get an interview offer in first few days. Well done!

calpop · 09/01/2019 13:52

What's the difference between a Saturday and a weekday interview at Trinity?

Motheroftw0 · 09/01/2019 14:14

As far as I know Saturday interviews are non academic interviews meaning the pupil are not interviewed from an academic interview perspective.. saying this from personal experience and also what I read in this forum in one of the posts

Motheroftw0 · 09/01/2019 15:58

Anymore calls today? I haven't heard from them 😞 I don't think they would be calling anymore as it is past school time now.

plasterdisaster · 09/01/2019 20:22

Does anyone know if interviews occur before the scholarship assessments if one has been applied for or do they wait for the outcome of that to get a filler picture of the child?

walkingtheplank · 09/01/2019 20:47

Well done Master BondiBoo74.
How exciting.
Am trying not to think about it but am answering the phone quicker than usual!

liho888 · 09/01/2019 22:01

well done bondiboo74, we have also had a call from trinity for 11+ interview for Friday. Still waiting DS2 who took 10+ but no call yet. Turning into a nervous wreck!

gambaspilpil · 09/01/2019 22:04

Good Luck everybody! I have been through this process three times now and twice at Whitgift. (didn't apply for trinity) Last year my DS was similar to some on here. Inconsistent, strong in Maths and Non verbal....he got 20% in a mock test after the xmas holidays and we panicked. However he pulled it out the bag and we got an email invite for interview for Whitgift. We didn't ask to change the time or date as we were aware we had to make ourselves available. They were brilliant in the interview and had already spotted our DS issues with comprehension and highlighted what support they could offer him. My advice for parents when you have your interview/meeting you will be asked the 'why whitgift' question. They really want people to come that have Whitgift as there first choice. So even if it isn't talk as if it is! We love the school and my son is loving it having started in September..... hope you all get the news you want

Seeline · 10/01/2019 09:19

Mother I wouldn't worry too much about calls being made during school hours. Staff are around before and after school - especially at this time of year. We had our call on a Saturday morning (7 years ago!).

Motheroftw0 · 10/01/2019 09:46

Oh thanks Seeline, I am hoping to get some good news today. It is nerve wrecking to panic every time my phone rings!!!

accrobat · 10/01/2019 09:48

Thanks Beeline.

accrobat · 10/01/2019 09:50

Sorry I meant Seeline. That’s helpful to know.

mrsvalentine · 10/01/2019 10:30

I'm a newbie to school applications. Is the 11+ for private the same as for grammar schools. I thought private schools have their own tests?

enterparentone · 10/01/2019 10:47

mrsvalentine no they are different. You're right that private schools have their own tests. Grammar schools may also set their own tests, but some set them together with other local grammars (such as the ones in Sutton). Private schools may also have earlier (and later) entry points such as 10+, 13+ and 6th form which both Whitgift and Trinity have, or 7+ or younger if they have primary years (which W&T don't).

Good luck everyone! Have been there with DS1 two years ago who is now at T, and due to do 10plus with DS2 next year - such a nailbiting time!

Bondiboo74 · 10/01/2019 10:59

Thanks Wimbles. So nervous about Trinity interview tomorrow. I am meeting with the HM. Eek. Scared I’ll say something stupid.

Seeline · 10/01/2019 11:19

The T Headmaster is very nice. See it as a chat rather than an interview. Use it as an opportunity to find out what you want to know about hte school too. Interviews work both ways Wink

Motheroftw0 · 10/01/2019 11:22

Any calls today Trinity parents?
