*feel like I need to know more

Sostenueto · 14/06/2018 20:53

Played in a lot of places in the world peggy. Had great fun but lacked parental guidance. I was very wild when young. Could have done real great things but was only really comfortable playing in a band/ orchestra. Could have made it as a soloist but I must was not confident and had no one behind me to help me through trials and tribulations. That's when you realise the importance of family, when you never had one.
Now enough of sob stories etc. But I could write a book about escapades I got up to! Perhaps one day I will!

Sostenueto · 14/06/2018 20:57

slinky played right up to about 3 years ago in a championship brass band and did tour of Europe with them in 2012! But my health is too bad now to do the travelling required ( band practises in York) 4 rehearsals a week too big a commitment for me. Let the youngsters do it! Anyway I couldn't keep up with the drinkingWink

TheThirdOfHerName · 14/06/2018 20:59

Thank you mmzz
LaTeX is one that DS2 has heard of.

Cherryburn · 14/06/2018 21:02

Wow sost. That’s a fantastic life story-you must write a book. Your old bandmaster sounds like an amazing man. He must have been very proud of you.

AlexanderHamilton · 14/06/2018 21:03

Sostenuto what a fabulous story.

(By the way my auto correct is automatically changing sost to sostenuto now)

Cherryburn · 14/06/2018 21:08

Has anyone else noticed that Edexcel are advertising for markers on the Mumsnet Jobs email Confused? Shouldn’t they have recruited/trained them by now?

EllenJanethickerknickers · 14/06/2018 21:10

I'm rather glad you meant 'founded' sost as I can imagine you as having a misspent youth! Grin

Cherryburn · 14/06/2018 21:11

Also Network Rail advertising for timetable planners on there!! They’re a bit late too Grin

Sostenueto · 14/06/2018 21:16

Oh definitely misspent and overspent ellen!
alexander it recognises quality when it sees it does autocorrectGrinGrin

Teenmum60 · 14/06/2018 21:20

Cherryburn Surprised that they are not advertising for train drivers...or train drivers that can drive through tunnels.

Sost - I am sure your DGC love hearing your stories too...lovely memories to look back on.

DD getting all her stuff together for tomorrow's outing to the theatre and stay in London...hope the girls concentrate on their exam first...its actually so nice to see them being nice to each other after all the bitchiness in past months.

Sostenueto · 14/06/2018 21:30

This type of mischief I used to do...when I was 15 I bunked off and made my way hitching to Torquay where I managed to land a job playing in the Ivy Benson all girl dance band for a grand total if £25 a week ( it was a lot back then) course local authority was looking for me but I managed to do a full season before they found me. Blimey didn't I get in a mass of trouble! But what a wad! I was escorted everywhere the till I was about 17 by social worker. Of course after then you were abandoned by system. But I started college had some digs by then so all OK. The freedom was fantastic! So there you go a proper wild child!

KingscoteStaff · 14/06/2018 21:34

Alexander poor you and poor DH. Does caravanning end tomorrow?

DS, having a final flick through his Physics flash cards, has just said, “Ohhhh, I seeeee!”

A bit late for a revelation....

brainmelt · 14/06/2018 21:36

kitties sorry about your DD. Go to school nurse before exam. She can have 5% extra if she's sitting the exam ill.

Had a ‘he’s growing up’ moment earlier.

Dc has to a wear a suit for his six form induction day, in a couple,of weeks. Before buying it, he wasn’t that bothered but actually seemed to enjoy it. I ordered some shirts which arrived in the last couple,of days. He was excited to try them on with his jacket, and said ‘I like ties’. This is the lad who doesn’t want an office job.

Wonder if I can get a ‘last day in schooluniform’ photo tomorrow. My dc aren’t very willing when it comes to photographs,

KingscoteStaff · 14/06/2018 21:44

cherry Edexcel are currently targeting Primary School teachers to mark GCSEs in their degree subject. Money’s rubbish, though.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 14/06/2018 21:44

Naughty, naughty, sost. You wouldn't catch me saying anything like that! Wink

EllenJanethickerknickers · 14/06/2018 21:46

Last day in unfortunately summer school uniform photos planned for tomorrow. Polo shirt, though rather than blazer and tie.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 14/06/2018 21:47

unfortunately summer

Stickerrocks · 14/06/2018 21:48

Alexander been there, done that on the bad news. Our school can lend yours an emotional support dog on Monday, but we still need him for physics & add maths.
