Yep train cancelled even though snow not laying! Faulty train apparently but they have laid coach on so a long wait at station for dgd to arrive (sigh)

Allthebestnamesareused · 26/02/2018 18:39

We have snow too.. where are you Sostenueto?

Stickerrocks · 26/02/2018 18:55

We have a few lumps of candy floss floating around in the sky on the south coast. DD predicts that school will be shut by Thursday, but they usually make year 11s battle through.

Few flakes of snow here in the south east

Oddsocks15 · 26/02/2018 19:51

Oh and DD reports mocks today went “okay” Hmm

Sostenueto · 26/02/2018 20:10

Live in the mysterious east! Snow laying now and freezing almost instantly. The wind is so bitter but real strange weather this morning when I tried to take pup out on my scooter, bright sunshine, bitter wind and snow??Confused snowed all day slowly never settled till 4 pm. Dgd will not be going to school tomorrow or next day as trains cancelled before first snowflake fell! No replacement services and I will definitely NOT be driving unless its a dire emergency for a couple of days. Will have dgd tomorrow and next day and dd will have to try to get to work by taxi. Am not raking any chances on anyone being stranded or myself being stranded. Hope that is not unreasonable?Hmm

LooseAtTheSeams · 26/02/2018 20:38

I think that's very sensible Sostenueto!
DS1 said English went well today so hope that's right. Good luck to everyone taking exams at the moment and keep warm!

Sostenueto · 26/02/2018 20:42

Thanks looseFlowers and ditto for DC taking mocks!

Sostenueto · 26/02/2018 20:43

And definitely keep warm and safe to allFlowers

Teenmum60 · 26/02/2018 20:46

A few fluttering snow flakes here too but DD's school always tends to open when all the other schools close (which is good although when it snowed before Xmas the school was freezing so really should have closed - everyone was wearing there coats indoors).

Good luck to everyone taking exams over the next few weeks too...

Sostenueto - I would not be rushing to go out if I was you....stay warm indoors.

Stickerrocks - Glad your DD is OK...

Sostenueto · 26/02/2018 20:55

Dgds school will probably close as 60% of DC shipped in from 2 counties not many actually live in or very close to city.
Here's one young lady who cried when i took her out in the cold and wet! What a whooze!

Sostenueto too cute for words! It's definitely not weather for little pups - love the expression on her face!

Sostenueto · 26/02/2018 21:17

She was 4 months or so there, now 7 months, and needed an extra paw to hold her chew for her! But looks are deceiving she's a little.........sometimes but I love her!

Oh bless.

It sounds like your dgd has a similar length journey to school as my dd.

She always takes an emergency bag in the bad weather. Dh drives her most days & there is a Travelodge across the road from school. Also in an emergency the boarding house will put her up.

Sostenueto · 26/02/2018 21:22

Nite to all and I'm looking forward to lay- in and company of dgd for a couple of days and she will be able to revise thoroughly between my special hot chocs drinks and treats galore to reward her hard work! GinWine

Sostenueto · 26/02/2018 21:25

That's handy Alexander and a good idea about emergency bag! I expect we could let dgd go to school if open and she could stay at one if her friends but we would worry so much. Maybe we are too protective (sigh).

AlexanderHamilton · 26/02/2018 21:27

Dh works at ds’s school so we have that added layer of security.

AlexanderHamilton · 26/02/2018 21:28

DD’s school even.

TheDonald · 26/02/2018 22:16

Hello all.

Dd back to school today after half term. She made a study plan for half term but only managed about a third of it. Lots of good intentions but she never wants to do it "now"

I fully expect that she will leave things to the last minute, and then cram it all into the last weeks and get away with it (maybe a grade down across the board)

My logical brain is telling me to leave her to it but I can't quite step away.

It's all so hard. And yes we've got friendship dramas too. Dd is gay. Her best friend since y7 is bi and third friend is straight but bff fancies her. I have my suspicions about dd's feelings towards best friend.

As if girls' friendships weren't complicated enough. Confused

Sostenueto · 27/02/2018 03:26

Omg! Had thundersnow at 10 pm now have about 2-3 inches of snow. Won't be picking up dgd today then and wide awake after night of spasms. So much for lay-in ffs!

Stickerrocks · 27/02/2018 06:52

TheDonald You can win friendship top trumps for now. I sense a few drama coming up over the next few days/weeks.

BlueBelle123 · 27/02/2018 08:48

Stickerrocks you beat me to it, The Donald is definitely top to the leader board for friendship dramas!

JufusMum · 27/02/2018 09:18

DD doing mocks this week and appears to have given up any form of revision and become and mardy, miserable monster. I'm ignoring her, if she messes up and can't get into her Sixth Form of choice, it's her call.

Teenmum60 · 27/02/2018 10:03

TheDonald My logical brain is telling me to leave her to it but I can't quite step away sums me up because I know if DD does badly she will say that I should have pushed her to revise more - cant win !

Allot of the friendship issues within DD's school are to do with sexuality - its great they can have the confidence to come out as LGBT but in some cases it does bring a new level of issues....including the best way to deal with gender dysphoria within a single sex school.

Allthebestnamesareused · 27/02/2018 11:01

We are in the East too but I suspect not quite as far East as you
