Not sure about that [stickerrocks]. Sister ship was launched last year and has taken about 1yr to fix (although it was a new class ship) so hopefully they will not make the same mistakes....just hope I dont regret not booking a US cruise line.

Sostenueto · 12/02/2018 12:36

Lovely dress Alexander!

ljlkk · 12/02/2018 20:00

Beautiful dress, AlexH.

Here are some examples of dresses DD likes (I hate them, but I'm not wearing them, hohum; I shrieked a bit about no bra support but DD thinks she'll manage). She is going to try some on end of this week. Is determined on RED. Good news is her mate can do the alterations for free.

Going through DS's exam timetable this evening and there's quite a few mistakes. Surprising?

Quiz has an outlet in local department store is good news but better than that I had a little win on Saturdays lotto ( didn't check ticket till this afternoon!) So prom dress is a yes now! So this afternoon took dgd to shop to try some on for size really because the 2 dresses she really like are only available on line. Size sorted so dd will order on line tomorrow as I never use online banking etc because I don't trust it and hopefully all will be done and dusted by end of week! Bit of a relief as dgd been moaning all weekend about leaving it late ( she really does think we can magic money up!) She likes powder blue colour dress. Hope it fits because more stress will just make me hit theGinSmile

Sostenueto · 12/02/2018 20:24

Checked dgds mmzz all seem to be there first exam may 15 th I think. Art for 2 days.

mmzz · 12/02/2018 20:29

On Ds's they have the duration of 4 papers wrong, and they have the wrong option for history. Dates are fine, I think.

Are start times set by the exam board or the school?

And I finally got dgd to do 2 1 hour revision sessions and she managed to finish first unit of physics. Not sure how much sunk in though! Her revision timetable is constructed so that each unit for subjects is studied I.e 40 units for math but they are not big units so 4 a week for 10 weeks to revise. The sciences much bigger units but about 8 or so each so 1 unit a week each science and so forth. So hopefully all will be covered (sigh)

Sostenueto · 12/02/2018 20:31

Exam board I think mmzz.

Sostenueto · 12/02/2018 20:32

Think dgd said Spanish oral date to be set by school but not sure.

Teenmum60 · 12/02/2018 20:46

mmzz - I would email the school - I did on Friday re English although I think there probably is only one exam and not two because of the coursework content. I have to sign DD's exam form so I just want to ensure that it is correct ... Dd's Oral is shown on the form but not the time.
ljlkk One of DD's friends has chosen a red dress and it does look stunning.....

Sostenueto · 12/02/2018 21:00

I know thus isn't educational but what goes better with powder blue silver or gold? Bit if an argiebargie going on between dgd and dd so seeking advice!

Mmzz yes email school to sort...nothing but a worry when the school can't get timetable right! As if exam season isn't stressful enough!

AlexanderHamilton · 12/02/2018 21:17

I’d say silver.

mmzz · 12/02/2018 21:17

Silver is classier IMO, but gold goes too. I don't know why, but gold and powder blue make me think of a roman lady.

I'll email the school. I've just gone through it really carefully after finding the first mistake. Then I found another 3! I know it will get fixed, but I wish whoever did it would check their work before sending it out and putting the onus on students / parents.

Teenmum60 · 12/02/2018 21:24

I again would say silver but gold goes too...depends on whether she has any jewellery already she wants to wear with the dress...

Agree i dont like the pressure of having to sign a form - there are 3 DT exams showing and in my mind DD only has one on 19th June - which is on the list ...but I dont want U's showing on results sheet for exams if they are on the list and should not be and therefore she could be shown as a NO show (if that is what happens).

Sostenueto · 12/02/2018 21:29

Dgd has rose gold bracelet and necklace. Could buy some silver. Not sure what to do really. Thanks anyway to allFlowers

Sostenueto · 12/02/2018 21:30

Am going to check exam timetable too now just to make absolutely sure!

AlexanderHamilton · 12/02/2018 21:35

I NEED to ask Dd if she’s been given a timetable to check.

DoNotBringLulu · 12/02/2018 21:41

I would say gold with powder blue

androbbob · 12/02/2018 23:11

To those looking at prom dresses - first suggestion was ebay from China but takes ages and not sure what you are getting for your £30 or something but order big and it can be taken in to fit. We bought as knew it fitted and as she is a leggings and sweatshirt type girl, had no idea what would suit. Fun trying on but could sense tension from other mum -daughter parties! I was happy as long as she is happy. Price was more than would have liked but been saving up for years! Being in Liverpool we have a strong full on make up, nails , spray tan and hair do vibe going on so could easily double dress Price if not careful. DD not like that but frock needed to be one she was happy with.

No sign of revision as she is feeling delicate again - similar pattern to start of Xmas hols so banning Easter break 😆. Gonna try to encourage some revision tomorrow.

AlexanderHamilton · 13/02/2018 00:50

I’ve just been sent a 5% off Quiz code SB05

Oddsocks15 · 13/02/2018 08:18

Sorry not posted for a few days, DD passed the flu to DH. He got up to phone in sick to work and passed out hitting the deck in the process. He has a split/fat lip, chipped tooth and cut on his nose, took him up to A&E who gave him antibiotics and fluids. He is currently in bed and looks like he has been in a fight!

DD is back to being moody, she has mostly recovered from flu. I have no idea about prom or revision.

LooseAtTheSeams · 13/02/2018 08:28

Oddsocks oh no! Flu really is awful. I hope your DH is on the mend.
I must say there are some very glamorous outfits on this thread!
DS says art day was very productive and on the right track. Hopefully he can switch his mind to further revision today. He has to do geography booklets, music mind maps, computer revision and some English literature this week.

BlueBelle123 · 13/02/2018 08:43

Oddsocks he must win the award for the most impressive man flu story Grin ......... hope he gets well soon and he's not too demanding as a patient!

I think I had better check DS's exam timetable, I believe its lurking at the bottom of his school bag, very rarely venture down there!!

Teenmum60 · 13/02/2018 09:16

Oddsocks - your poor DH....
androbbob hope your DD picks up...
DD had a productive day in school yesterday doing DT - she is designing a perfume bottle and packaging - would be nice if we had a productive revision period today Hmm. I suggested setting alarm for 9.30am.

Hoping that we can go Prom dress shopping tomorrow...would be nice to tick that off the list plus some general pampering (she needs hair cut etc).

Still trying to sort out what to do for her 16th ...birthday falls after Easter break but midweek. Friendship group is incredibly diverse ...there seems to be some good Spa day offers which she seems keen on - but she also loves theatre shows and I am able to get very good discounted tickets - so that maybe an option too given that its just 40 mins into London by train.
