I didn't realise that was such as essay! I don't post that often prob just as well!

AlexanderHamilton · 09/02/2018 11:36

Bluebell - don’t suppose it’s OCR Computer Science? If so Ds will have it!

LooseAtTheSeams · 09/02/2018 12:02

I think DS is enjoying computer science - he has a two-topics-a-week revision timetable from his teacher that seems to be OK, although he's got extra computer mocks coming up after half term so that might put him off a bit!
He's had an English language mock this morning - paper 2 this time, and I hope it's gone OK because he's been enjoying English and I don't want that to change between now and the real thing! They do an English literature paper after half term. There's quite a bit of homework for next week and it seems to be mainly revision-based but I'm absolutely sure he'll factor in some long lie-ins as well!

BlueBelle123 · 09/02/2018 12:16

Sorry Alexander its AQA!

Teenmum60 · 09/02/2018 12:51

Alexander - We have the OCR Revision guide (s) and some test papers which you are welcome to after June 19th. I will get DD to pencil in answers although I think she has done one of the papers that came in brown envelope.
I'm not quite sure what is happening with CS...DD did really well in Mock exam (85%) and I know Teacher was very pleased ...DD felt content of mock was incredibly weak - which leaves me feeling confused. DD was requested to cover one topic as homework (3hrs work over 3 weeks)- she has expressed concern that there is still allot to be covered. I asked how syllabus was going at PE - Teacher seemed chilled stating that all major topics covered - just small one's left (but dd cannot answer allot of questions on practice exam). DD stated teachers hands were shaking at PE when I asked the question ...so "plan" to get DD to do practice paper (there are 2 exams) during HT and see where the lack of knowledge is.

BlueBelle123 · 09/02/2018 13:05

Teen don't get me started on PE, over half term DS is going to have to do the coursework and we are going to have to produce the video evidence for one of his sports, road cycling not a clue what we are supposed to be doing given no guidance from school and only just received a letter from PE saying they want it all in first week back after half term. The mock results were atrocious most got 1's and 2's, I've effectively written off this GCSE!

@tanjanavarro
I started your questionnaire but questions 8-15 & 19 have a priority ordering rather than a pick 1 so I gave up. You may wish to resubmit.
Plus this is a GCSE thread and your questionnaire only goes up to y9. You should start your own thread, preferably in 'Education' to also catch primary parents.
Furthermore I suggest you ask about Academy type, as in independent or part of a chain as that may well make a difference to the answers.

Teenmum60 · 09/02/2018 13:14

Bluebelle - I meant Parents Evening - sorry.... I think PE GCSE would be my DD's worst nightmare because of her Hypermobility ...

Should I be worried that I have not seen DD's exam entrance forms (nor has DD). I thought deadline was 21/2 which doesnt leave allot of time given its HT next week ?

TheSecondOfHerName · 09/02/2018 13:19

We got DS2's mock results today (based on the school's estimated grade boundaries).

If he gets the same results in the summer, he'll be able to continue where he is and study the A-levels he wants to do.

AlexanderHamilton · 09/02/2018 13:35

I too started the questionsire but Ds attends a single academy model school.

TeenTimesTwo · 09/02/2018 13:37

@tanjanavarro Our Academy was called I think a 'Convertor Academy' basically a high achieving school that was allowed to independently convert - no other schools involved and no sponsor. But the other bits look correct now.

Teenmum60 · 09/02/2018 13:39

TheSecondOfHerName - Very impressive well done to your DSs....must be nice to know that he can continue at 6th form too

AlexanderHamilton · 09/02/2018 13:52

Sounds like ds’s. Academy Convertir Single Academy Trust

BlueBelle123 · 09/02/2018 14:17

Sorry Teen Blush

Thesecond fab results hopefully he can do the same in the summer!

Stickerrocks · 09/02/2018 17:10

Don't The Picture House chain is not only showing Christopher Ecclestone, but also Rory Kinnear's Macbeth from the National Theatre. Tickets booked for both locally to make up for DD'S trip to see CE at Stratford being cancelled.

Do people see their exam entry forms?

Teenmum60 · 09/02/2018 17:16

Exam Entry - Just come through today after school for signature and return on 19th.
Very happy bunny because Edexcel seem to have moved the English Lang Exam from Monday 4th June to another date so there is no longer Eng Lang and History on the same day which will definitely benefit DD given her hypermobility ....

TheDrsDocMartens · 09/02/2018 17:16

No to seeing Exams entry forms , it would be a nightmare to do that many in such a short period.

No academies here! All schools in town are still under council control Grin

WhatHaveIFound · 09/02/2018 17:28

DD has her exam entry and I presume has signed it off as i haven't been asked to. She has two clashes so has ended up with 4 exams on one day. Thankfully nothing the next day so she'll have a chance to recover.

Thesecond fab results there!

AlexanderHamilton · 09/02/2018 18:13

Teen - I’ve had dd’s Exams printed out for a couple of months now (I downloaded them from the exam board website) & Edexel English has always been Tuesday, not Monday 4th.

Teenmum60 · 09/02/2018 19:41

Alexander - I got confused with the 8th June where English & History clash but there is only one Eng Lang exam showing on her timetable now which is the 5th ....Do you have two showing ?

AlexanderHamilton · 09/02/2018 19:52

I’ve left my copy at work but I’ll check.

AlexanderHamilton · 09/02/2018 19:59

Paper 1 Tuesday 5th June AM
Paper 2 Friday 8th June AM

Teenmum60 · 09/02/2018 20:20

Thanks - is your DD doing any coursework because the exam can be 100% exam or exam/coursework...DD is doing exam and coursework and only one exam is showing on the timetable for both Eng lang and Eng Lit....although oddly enough there are three exams showing for DT
