Typical!

EllenJanethickerknickers · 24/08/2016 21:36

Second, I've done that, once I dropped my credit card in the car and found it 1 hour after cancelling it. Just this month I put my credit card in a 'safe place' at home when I went on holiday abroad and couldn't find it when I came home a week later. I've cancelled it and got a new one. I'll find it one day... Blush

Hi. I posted on one of these threads way back in September, but haven't kept up with them at all. I thought I'd just pop in and wish everyone luck for tomorrow, hopefully all your dcs get the results theyre hoping for.

Dd hasn't seemed stressed about it, she's been keeping busy with the NCS for the past few weeks, but today she got very teary and emotional about something very minor so it's getting to her now. She's got very high targets so thinks she would be letting people down if she doesn't get them.

Tbh, I'm more worried about my form at work. They've been mine for 5 years and i really want to see them all go on to their chosen courses, whether that is sixth form, college or apprenticeships. I am so worried thinking about their results.

hotdiggedy · 24/08/2016 22:03

Thanks for the advice everyone. We have no real plan B as he refuses to discuss anything. School website says nothing other than the times that results can be collected. I have found this whole gcse to next steps quite baffling really! School have not been very informative at all when I have spoken to them.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 24/08/2016 22:28

hot schools seem to talk directly to the DC and imagine they'll pass the information on. You'd think they'd realise that actually communicating with parents is last on many teenagers' list of priorities.

2gorgeousboys · 24/08/2016 22:42

Thank you all for your thoughts, flowers and good wishes for my Dad. Hopefully tomorrow we will have more than just GCSEs to celebrate!

Real life has got in the way a little bit this week so I've not had time to post.

Good luck to everyone for tomorrow. I feel sick at the thought of DS1 being disappointed and have been or acting my 'it will be ok, we are still proud of you' face. I've had a glass of wine or two tonight to help with the nerves. The football team DH and the boys support have just lost and been knocked out of a cup so that's given them something else to think about for a couple of hours Hmm DS1 has been rather horrible tonight but I think it's nerves.

Good luck and hopefully you are all posting positive updates tomorrow!

hotdiggedy · 24/08/2016 22:57

yes Ellen, I think that is very true. Well, good luck everyone!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/08/2016 22:57

2Gorgeous, I hope it's a really positive day for you tomorrow.

Got rather soaked on the way home from the pub. damn radar was right! But we've watched a film and dd is playing online quizzes.

Jetcatisback · 24/08/2016 23:42

Good luck to all Flowers

I'm kind of lurking as DD1 (ASD) gets her GCSE English and Maths results tomorrow, though she is now 19. Three years ago right in the lead up to her GCSEs she started having seizures, and her whole GCSE months were spent either in ambulances, hospitals, or at home recovering. The side effects of her meds now are such that she'll never return to the person she was, but with the support of amazing staff at college, she's fulfilled her goal of sitting her GCSEs. I'm so proud of her, but very nervous for the results as I know she wants high grades.

So, I'm trying to take my mind of it all by reading the thread Smile

EllenJanethickerknickers · 24/08/2016 23:46

Good luck Jet, and everyone else. Off to bed now...

BitOutOfPractice · 24/08/2016 23:58

Yes, can't sleep, just managed to get DD in to bed but think she might reappear throughout the night! Good luck everyone Flowers

BitOutOfPractice · 25/08/2016 00:02

Went to bed at a sensible time, but still wide awake!
Reading the comments about grade boundaries on Twitter and in the news probably isn't helping . .

My brain just keeps going over worst case scenarios and Plans b, c and d etc.

On a positive DH has been working abroad, and we thought he couldn't make it home til tomorrow evening but he's just walked through the door!

He's working from home tomorrow too so will be on hand to sort out any potential crises while I'm stuck at work, so feeling a lot better about that.

DD loved her gift and went to bed with a huge smile on her face. Smile

Jetcatisback · 25/08/2016 00:23

That's lovely Lobster Smile

situatedknowledge · 25/08/2016 00:31

Good luck for tomorrow Jetcat. Congratulations and best wishes to your daughter whatever the outcome.

ExitPursuedByABear · 25/08/2016 05:26

Well that's me awake.

ellaballoo · 25/08/2016 05:30

Good morning , very happy I slept until this time !
Well , here it is ..good luck everyone .

chewingawasp · 25/08/2016 05:33

Ds has not slept all night and has just had a rant about grade boundaries Sad. It's going to be a tough day.

Trufflethewuffle · 25/08/2016 06:10

Dreading today. DS3 gets his results today. He seemed to be going along fine until after his mocks which he did quite well in but he seemed to tail off the amount of work he was doing after that. He wants to stay at his school for sixth form but I don't know if his grades will be good enough.

Add to that last week's decidedly non stellar AS results for DS2 who has been in crisis this year and is now being assessed for ASD.

Good luck to everyone!

MargoReadbetter · 25/08/2016 06:22

Just got DS's through by email. Staying on for sixth form. Phew! Of course, he'll only just get cockier.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/08/2016 06:22

morning all Confused been dozing on and off for a while but wouldn't let myself log on til after 6am. Had a lovely dream about catching hundreds of Pokemon!
dd went off to bed at 11. No idea how her night has been, I hope she slept.

What a day for your dd Jet, I really hope she does well.

Lobster, what a wonderful surprise!

Good luck everyone!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/08/2016 06:23

oh that's good news Margo :) I bet you are relieved!

MargoReadbetter · 25/08/2016 06:28

Good luck to you & yours on this thread. I've just read the last couple of pages. I wish I'd known of this thread and how worrisome a time it is for so many.

DS got a B in two of his A level choices. He says he can still do them and refuses to go in to school later to check.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/08/2016 06:30

sounds frustrating Margo. I hope he is right. I'm impressed he's awake though.
