Well done to all our brave Y11s and wish every last one of them all the best

That's encouraging. Thank you.

cloudyday99 · 31/08/2016 07:58

228 Yes there's lots of useful discussion on that thread isn't there?

I think it's still worth appealing if you've got what appears an anomaly - ie one paper that's really unexpectedly low, or way out of kilter with the others. They're still correcting where they've added up wrong - which is what I'm hoping has happened with DS's F in one of his music coursework (marked as a B/C by the teacher)

It's not likely to work of you've just missed a grade by a mark or two though, unless the remarker thinks the original mark was way out. If they happen to give it a couple of marks more that won't make any difference, the old mark would still be considered reasonable and so it won't be changed.

Daughter's registered at college, she has her college card (with dodgy photo!), bus pass and details of sports clubs to join. I've been organised and put money on the system they use for the cafeterias and for printing (Wisepay) so I think she's ready for induction morning next week and starting from 12th.
Just need to get her Yr 11 sister thinking about school by next Tuesday!

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 31/08/2016 13:57

DD went in for an hour to select her A levels and provide documentation etc.

I'd like to say it went well.

baringan · 31/08/2016 13:58

Oh no Exit what happened

FantasyAndHope · 31/08/2016 14:08

We have no cards here. Just turn up and get given study room number they share with 2-4 in a study some have there own studies
Oh no exit what happened

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 31/08/2016 14:11

What happened exit?

All this talk of cards has reminded me to sort out a 16-18 travel card for DS1. Unfortunately this means I need to get him to send me a photo of himself (that fits the requirements).

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 31/08/2016 14:13

Think it was a bit of a culture shock.

And she is missing her friends.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/08/2016 14:25

oh dear Exit.
Tomorrow is a new day.

Wish we could get travel cards round here. Have to pay full adult fare for dds journey

FantasyAndHope · 31/08/2016 14:37

exit
Oh dear, was she in private before and comprehensive/college now? Or vice versa.
I'm sure in time she will love it for now it's just something new

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 31/08/2016 14:44

I'm very glad I remembered about the travel card. It's £7 a week rather than £3.50 a day. So quite a big difference.

I'm sure your DD will get used to it exit. Staring anywhere new and unfamiliar is tricky.

baringan · 31/08/2016 15:29

exit Sad I bet by Christmas she will love it! Has she got any nice horsey things to look forward to?

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 31/08/2016 16:02

Small private to big comprehensive.

She has a dressage competition on Sunday - which is a stress level all of its own!

baringan · 31/08/2016 16:06

Good luck to her. Dd is doing her first event in a week or so and I haven't noticed her making much effort to learn her test Confused

FantasyAndHope · 31/08/2016 16:10

exit
That will be a shock to the system it was a shock to DDs system when she moved from the largest comprehensive in our city to a independent school with just over 500 pupils

BertrandRussell · 31/08/2016 16:15

"Good luck to her. Dd is doing her first event in a week or so and I haven't noticed her making much effort to learn her test confused"

You'd better be stNding ready to read it for her!

FantasyAndHope · 31/08/2016 16:55

DD has found a bag and will collect from next tomorrow after getting her nails done

chocolateworshipper · 31/08/2016 17:53

Enrolment all done here. Are we re-grouping in Further Education?

needastrongone · 31/08/2016 17:57

Ah, big change then Exit. Somewhat overwhelming I would imagine. I am sure after the first few weeks it will feel normal. She will be well equipped for university life anyway, experiencing change at this stage.

Thanks for the clarification re dreamgirls, I had guessed, but am useless at name changing guesses.

DS's time table is up on the Eportal. Looks like he had a fair bit of free time/periods, even doing 4 A Levels. A few are single lessons though, rather than a full afternoon or morning, which is A Good Thing for studying.

Also he appears to be doing Chemistry, even if this hasn't been officially confirmed.

pleasemothermay1 · 31/08/2016 18:13

Well ds went yesterday to show his GCSEs grades to the collage he couldn't stop smiling

hes so chuffed that's he's not going to do re sits and will get be be getting on with his level 3 in engeerining sorted his travel I was like wow it's gonna be about £50 a week

He's looking for a job sort of but in his defence he will have more like around christams I think now

And I wondering will he need safety boots for his practical classes hmmm

Also his collage has a no joggers policy so just taken back to top man 6 joggers in exchange for 2 jeans and 1 pair of chinos they also have no hats policey as well I have snap backs so not to fussed however they have a £1 charge for ID badges and I am expecting to be paying the office regularly if ds keeps to form

FantasyAndHope · 31/08/2016 18:49

I have no clue what DDs timetable is. DD won't find out till next Tuesday, however alevel choices have being confirmed according to the prospectus they will have more teaching time than previous years. Not sure how many frees she'll have

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/08/2016 19:21

new thread here

chocolateworshipper · 31/08/2016 19:32
