Hi!

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/06/2015 22:12

Checking in from the smug zone. DD finished this afternoon and is planning on sleeping and watching crap TV until the weekend.

Good luck to all still taking exams. It does seem like a dreadfully long time since Art at the end of April.

titchy · 17/06/2015 22:14

Grin Relaxing with friends tomorrow and Friday, working Saturday. Prom and sixth form trial day next week.

spudmasher · 17/06/2015 22:29

Hey everyone.
All the best to those still going......as far as I know, there is still Stats and Italian to come? We are five days into to post GCSE heaven........and DD has been at school all day yesterday and today rehearsing for a showcase to raise money for prom. And just found out she has a choir gig requiring.......FULL WINTER SCHOOL UNIFORM!!!! Now frantically scrabbling round in the bin for the kind sleeved shirts..."..

spudmasher · 17/06/2015 22:29

Long sleeved. Not sure you can get kind sleeved.

tbtc · 17/06/2015 22:35

Marking my spot. Feels like he should be done, but nope, still one more Italian on Monday.

Horsemad · 17/06/2015 23:59

Chilling out after finishing here - well, DS is; I'm still motivating DS1 who finishes A levels next week. Hmm

LynetteScavo · 18/06/2015 00:04

Sixth form trial is week after next.

Current school does 4 days, prospective school does two days. They over lap so atm DS is thinking of 2 days at each school.

Prospective school suggested 5 AS levels and has him down for Further Maths. Hmm He will not be doing 5 AS levels, that's just silly. He doesn't even like Maths, although he's not bad at it.

And prospective school didn't ask about any SN, unlike Grammar school, or FE college where he could also do A'levels. DH went to the "interview" with DS and wouldn't have thought to raise it. Not sure if I should bother at this stage. I'm hoping DS will see for himself the school won't suit him.

motherstongue · 18/06/2015 00:07

Hi everyone, been gone for the best part of a week whilst DS on study leave and discovered we're on a new thread! DS went back to school tonight ready to take his last 2 papers tomorrow, Latin and Statistics. Having him home was great but discovered he has been in hell with his hay fever since returning after half term. His eyes had swollen up, his nose was blocked and he was having real difficulty sleeping. Of course he told me nothing when he was away even although I asked him about his hay fever and his medication. He was given plenty of treatment but I feel, oh I don't know, redundant! Feeling sorry for him and for me. I always go on a downer when he returns to school though so nothing new there.

He's heading off on DofE at the weekend too so no respite from the hay fever I suspect.

Everyone hanging in there for the last couple of days? Can't be many of us left at this late stage. Good luck to all who have papers tomorrow.

Horsemad · 18/06/2015 00:11

I'm sure DS1's GCSEs weren't this protracted (2yrs ago).

It's been a loooong exam season.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/06/2015 00:37

Just checking in. I seem to be staying up far too late at the moment. Don't have to get up early tomorrow, just fri for FM and then mon/tue 'pretending to be a sixth former and having to meet new people'. DD views the latter with more trepidation!

Sparklingbrook · 18/06/2015 06:22

Hello! Reporting from the post GCSE zone. We have entered a rude sloth like phase which I am hoping is temporary...

SugarPlumTree · 18/06/2015 06:48

Good luck for Latin and statistics today.

Beginning of June is when hayfever kicked in properly here. We're running an experiment with the different antihistamines at the moment.

SugarPlumTree · 18/06/2015 06:50

We did prom shoes yesterday. Hopefully have some but need tosee on with dress and we were both too knackered after. DD would have agreed to any pair by the end !

OddBoots · 18/06/2015 06:57

Thanks for the new thread.

I don't know if I feel post exams or not, we technically are but ds needs to go in and do his EDCL (a decision made by the school in the past few weeks). He hasn't done ICT for 2 years but he knows his way around a computer pretty well so hopefully he will do okay.

The school sent home a report on Monday, it included the grades they thought he was working at just before the exams and a couple of the grades are lower than he was expecting them to be and lower than we have been led to believe up until now. I think the school are hedging their bets in case the government tinkering means grades get dropped. It is probably better to come to terms with that now rather than in August but it still feels odd.

My Grandma has held on through ds's exams, it has been becoming clear since her stroke in May that she wasn't going to recover so a few days ago we decided with the doctors to move to end of life care. It is one of those times I am glad ds has ASD, he knows the facts but hasn't picked up on a lot of the emotion going on.

SugarPlumTree · 18/06/2015 07:01

Oh Oddboots, I am so sorry FlowersFlowersFlowers Bit of an emotional day here too really, my Mother is all being well flying to Thailand tonight to stay in a Care Home there by my Brother.

SmallMustard · 18/06/2015 07:12

Post GCSE phase as well, just. Currently the week is a combination of shopping and eating but today she is spending all day with a boy. At his house. Hmmm. The stress of the exams was nothing compared to this!
I know the boy and have done for several years, but still!

Morning all Smile, just one exam left tomorrow, Further Maths and then that's it, Hurrah!

Had this yesterday, I'm almost seeing the funny side ( but not quite). I was away from home on Tuesday night, DS3 had Physics at 9am Wednesday, I was 60 miles away.

At 9.15am, my phone rings, it's DS3.

Me: DS, what's wrong?what's happened? Why aren't you in the exam? ( panic, panic, hyperventilate etc)

DS: Shit, Shit, Shit, MUM. OH GOD. MUM, I've overslept, I hit snooze. MUM. MUM. ( panic, panic, hyperventilate etc. )

Me: it's ok, don't panic, don't panic ( as I bounce off the walls) just throw your clothes on and run to school, I'll phone them now.

DS: ( many swear words) But Mum what about my shower.

Me: ( many swear words) get your backside out of the house and bloody run NOW.

Phone goes dead.
I phone school, they are lovely, as long as he gets there in 10 mins all will be well.

10.30 am ( I've walked a groove in the floor from frantic pacing at this point)
DS phones.
DS: hiya Mum, it's fine, they were fine, I finished with everyone else. You panic very easily Mum ( hysterical laughter) I'm going to try the suit on again, think I've grown again. Don't forget we are going shopping for shoes. Love ya, bye.

He wants to be a Particle Physicist so the exam was rather important!

auntpetunia · 18/06/2015 07:53

Oh mrsb that has been one of my nightmares, glad he was able to do the exam ok. Leavers service here today, but parents not invited so I'm sending him off with a short and some sharpies and instructions to get pics..

Really wish he'd finish but last exam tomorrow is physics and then we can start thinking about Japan. I have less than a month to sort him for that trip of a lifetime and I don't break up until 21st July.

Good luck anyone with exams today

Bearleigh · 18/06/2015 07:57

Argh MrsBennet!! The fact he finished with the rest is positive. On the plus side he won't do that again.

Latin (Virgil) today and FM tomorrow then that is it.

TeenAndTween · 18/06/2015 07:58

MrsBennet - funny in hindsight but enough to give you a heart attack!

MrsBennetsEldest · 18/06/2015 08:23

He had grown AGAIN Confused. As long as he keeps his legs straight when he sits, doesn't raise his hands higher than his elbows and doesn't eat he will be fineGrin. He does look rather lovely though, he was TOLD by his gf that he must coordinate with her dress. I couldn't get him a Willy Wonka outfit so he's settled for a purple tie and pocket square????

LineRunner · 18/06/2015 08:41

MrsB, that over-sleeping drama is why suspect would happen here every day if I wasn't currently 'between jobs'. So every cloud, and all that...

Good luck to all today.

Further Maths tomorrow. I am hoping to encourage some awakeness and preparation later!

LineRunner · 18/06/2015 08:42

is what I suspect would happen
