I'm OK thanks BTM Bit nervous for her as pretty big undertaking and can't help wondering what state she will be at other end .

AuntP that had gone through my mind about the money. We use a Fairfx card in Europe which is a prepaid Mastercard you can use to withdraw cash in cash point. Thought I might look at a seeing whether there is something like that available.

Horsemad · 18/06/2015 20:17

My DS is a bit crabby today. Think it must be them 'coming down' after the exams.

I've been pretty emotional too today, especially after DH got upset after looking through DS1's yearbook. Sad

I just feel a bit 'flat'.

doglover · 18/06/2015 20:20

Dd has physics tomorrow morning AND THAT'S IT! Yay! :)

bigTillyMint · 18/06/2015 22:06

Sparkling, sorry to hear your DS is not great today again. DD is in a better mood, which is probably because she finished the ECDL exam (WTF is it even?) with flying colours and can now relax.

I don't think she's got as far as thinking about sixth form uniform!

auntpetunia · 19/06/2015 07:27

This is it, the last exam. Feels like it's taken for ever. Good luck today for anyone with final exams..DS says he sort of knows his physics but isn't sure.....great start.

Hope everyone's dcs find the strength to deal with today's exams.

HSMMaCM · 19/06/2015 07:36

Good luck everyone with exams today.

Good luck everyone still on the forced march to freedom!

Great pics dingit.

We had a bit of a celebration last night. DS described the champagne as 'gross' and left it. dD held her nose and downed half a glass Grin. She's going to a party tonight and is firmly sticking to Coke she saysGrin.

OddBoots · 19/06/2015 07:56

Good luck to all those with exams today.

Love the pics dingit, she looks a lovely young woman.

dingit · 19/06/2015 07:56

I'm with your ds on champagne Word. Although Dh has been champagne tasting and says if I drunk nice stuff I would enjoy it. Shame he doesn't buy me it!

Sparklingbrook · 19/06/2015 08:03

More lovely pics Smile I have always disliked Champagne. Makes me cough and tastes funny.Grin

bigTillyMint · 19/06/2015 09:35

dingit, your DD looks lovely - that nasty "friend" is clearly jealous and very immatureAngry

I love champagne. And prosecco. And cava. And any other sparkling wine. DD seems to be taking after me, but DS is like DH and prefers beer, but only a sip of course as he's only 14Wink

Good Luck to all those with last exams today. Hooray!

Eve · 19/06/2015 09:39

Prom here tonight, tie crisis last night!

DH said he would lend DS 1 of his ties, forced them to sort this out last night and DS doesn't like any. So off to buy a tie today .

Nydj · 19/06/2015 09:59

Is ds in the only school that requires children in the sixth form to wear a uniform? It is a standard academy in London - the very opposite of posh! To be honest I am glad as he is soooo fussy with clothes because of his sensory issues - at least with a uniform, after the initial outlay, clothing for five days of most weeks are sorted.

Nydj · 19/06/2015 10:00

is sorted

Nydj · 19/06/2015 10:03

dingit, that first day photo is just so adorable! She is beautiful on the last day pic too. Must be pretty emotional. Waiting for ds to get home so I can drag him out for the photo before he changes out of uniform even though, as I said ^^, he will be wearing uniform in the sixth form.

dingit · 19/06/2015 10:09

Thanks for your lovely comments.
Dsis said I should have stood her brother with her for the second photo. She has to be kidding, there would have been blood shed
Smile
Just waiting for her to come home from physics exam, then SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER WineWine

poppym12 · 19/06/2015 10:26

Should be over by now. u was due to pick Ds up after physics exam but he text to say come later as there's some 'last day shit' happening. oh dear.

poppym12 · 19/06/2015 10:28

'i was ' not 'u was '.
Injured thumb and phone screen touch pad isn't a great combination.

Nydj · 19/06/2015 10:36

Also waiting for return from physics exam here.

TranquilityofSolitude · 19/06/2015 10:48

Hurrah! It's over! DD is home from Physics and watching Dinnerladies with a packet of chocolate biscuits Grin.

switchitoff · 19/06/2015 10:52

DS finished this time last week, but I'm sneaking back onto the forum to say I really do feel for all of you who have had to keep going this week too. Some of your DCs seems to have had an inordinate amount of exams so Wine Cake Flowers to those who have made it through to the end.

DS is following the pattern talked about upthread and going camping this weekend. It's a massive Explorer Scouts-organised thing though, so not quite as nail-biting as those of you whose DCs want to go off by themselves.

Yesterday we went to the Bath Uni Open Day. It was a beautifully sunny day and the campus was great. Really made me want to go back to university and study something - anything really - I think it would be such fun now that I'm the age I am! Not sure how the teenagers in the lecture hall would feel about an old fogey like me being there though. It was a really helpful experience for DS: he attended a talk on one subject he's considering and absolutely loved it; and a talk on another subject which put him off it entirely. So that's good to know.

Nydj - DS1 will also be wearing school uniform in sixth form. They have a different blazer to the rest of the school, but the rest is the same. They are also required to be working in the school building for the whole day, not just turn up for lessons like some sixth form colleges - so it's still quite a controlled environment. Horses for courses and all that.

I understand about the sensory issues; DS2 is the same. He gets stuck on wearing the same clothes over and over, so actually a uniform is a very helpful thing. The only problem is that by this stage in the school year, his trousers and shoes are absolute rags, but he will not wear any of the new clothes and shoes I have bought. Hmm

Nydj · 19/06/2015 11:40

switchitoff, that's one thing we haven't had to contend with - he barely moves so his clothes look as good as new at the end of the school year - only need replacing if they are too small.

Yay, I can join lots of the rest of you as he is home from the last exam which was 'ok' - just like every single one of the other exams!

Flowers and Cake for those who have children with exams next week.

Littleham · 19/06/2015 11:51

Hurrah to those who have finally got the end of exams. Lovely pictures.

Have a lovely summer. Smile
