I know a few people are still going next week. Italian, Business Studies, a couple of other subjects.

My DS's prom isn't till the 3rd July. Which is good, as he doesn't have a suit yet. I hope he does a Blues Brothers Smile

tbtc · 19/06/2015 16:07

line I was just saying to a colleague how I'm not one for sentimentality in general (all that graduation from pre-school nonsense with gowns etc, or sobbing at the end of year 6) but I am feeling quite melancholy about this step. It does make you think FUCK...where did that time go?!

I think because they have turned into young adults and the time they leave home, get a job or go to Uni is really just around the corner I didn't just get a bit teary looking at Sidge's DS..honestly

LineRunner · 19/06/2015 16:16

My DS just looked at my red rimmed eyes in total horror.

The photos on here have finished me off.

dingit · 19/06/2015 16:28

I was caught crying too. She laughed at me, but I got a cuddle.
If you really want to cry, listen to the Abba song, can't remember what it's called, but it the one Meryl Streep sings to her dd as she gets ready for her wedding. I cry every time Smile

Dd wrote a Eulogy for her revision timetable, along the lines of ' you've been in my life too long, I'm sick of the sight of you, you and me are finished', her bf thought she meant him Shock

tbtc · 19/06/2015 16:28

Slipping through my fingers ding

LineRunner · 19/06/2015 16:44

When DS goes off to university, it'll be 'Walking through these empty rooms, tears in my eyes....'

Bloody Abba.

Sidge · 19/06/2015 16:49

tbtc don't set me off! (and she's a DD not a DS but I admit with her short hair and slim figure it's hard to tell sometimes! Grin )

I have just picked her up from being beautified ready for Prom and had a little teary moment. God knows what I'll be like later.

The years really do whizz by don't they? I sometimes want to go and post on threads where people are stressing about toddlers and clothes/food/behaviour and say do you know what, don't sweat the small stuff because before you know it they're leaving home

(Slipping through my fingers has me weeping snot and tears I tell you)

Horsemad · 19/06/2015 16:49

Don't start me off again! Spent all last night in tears because DH had got upset looking at (6th form) DS1's yearbook. DH is quite soppy, but I never dreamed he'd be as upset as he was. Really shook me. I had awfully bloodshot eyes this morning, looked terrible. Luckily nobody said anything at work or I'd have started again. Grin

AmazingDisgrace · 19/06/2015 17:15

I'm saving my tears for the 13th of August. I hope they are good tears.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 19/06/2015 17:17

Where's the "grip" emoticon so you can all get one!
Cute pics though Smile
Mine's hoping to go back into sixth form after her long summer break so hard to be too dramatic about things!
Have just agreed with her we'll have to get a pic at end of Y13 though as I just told her about all of yours (and we kind of missed it for this year)

cleanmachine · 19/06/2015 17:28

Have just shed some tears looking at all the beautiful photos. We have finished exams too. Feeling very emotional and proud of all these young people. Thank you for the support on these threads.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/06/2015 17:49

If DD says she wants to watch something tonight with me maybe I should suggest mamma Mia and see if I can get through without a sniffle. Grin

DH evidently took her at her word that she didn't want to do anything tonight and has gone out. Fortunately it doesn't seem to have miffed her, and we've had her special request dinner of Shirley's steak and Stilton pies ( entailing me making a special trip to get them). An iTunes card, some chocolate labelled 'the queen of amazing' and some jelly beans seems to have hit the spot - easily enough pleased.

I shall go and sort out our tubs of watersports gear ready for tomorrow, the weather forecast is a bit crap but what the heck. Schools out!!

Horsemad · 19/06/2015 17:54

Yeah, I'm fine about DS2 because he's staying at the school for 6th form, but was choked thinking how bloody quick it's gone with DS1 Shock

JugglingFromHereToThere · 19/06/2015 18:05

Ahh, I'm as daft as anyone really Horsemad - MrsBennet's DS's early morning dash for physics exam the other day had me weeping over my keyboard for some reason - I think the fact he made it really got me!
and "slipping through my fingers" sums it all up well doesn't it?

Horsemad · 19/06/2015 18:17

It definitely does *Juggling" Smile

Lovely pics Sidge and AuntP. DD would go absolutely bonkers if I posted one up on here!

What are Shirleys steak and stilton pies?!

Here DD seems to have chirped up a bit and spent the day shopping with her besties. She seems to have spent a fortune on skimpy knickersGrin

TheCheeseAlarm · 19/06/2015 19:09

Done. Finished. Finito.

Physics 'fine'. Further Maths 'really fine'.

I can't believe it's over. Can't wait for 2 years time with a GCSE and A level double whammy.

He's off to his 6th Form for a fun day tomorrow and a long rest with his grandparents next week. No prom for him; loud noise and big crowds are very much not his thing.

Pizza tonight and a long sleep.

Lovely photos.

TheWordFactory · 19/06/2015 19:15

Oh I am loving these pics but DC would flay me alive if I posted them on MN!

DD is currently slavering fake tan on her buddy's belly as they get ready for a party. Buddy looks like her body has been primed in different time zones!

Bearleigh · 19/06/2015 19:54

Glad it's not just me in tears over all the photos and wails of " where have all the years/my baby gone?". Further Maths 'fine except one question". He went out with some friends for a pizza, and is now planning a relaxing summer. What a long time ago they started...

Nydj · 19/06/2015 20:24

TheCheeseAlarm it is exactly the same here - exams are all 'fine',no prom because of noise and crowds and an evening of pizza and coke.

TeenAndTween · 19/06/2015 20:27

Just got back from watching DD being dropped at prom, she looked so lovely. Smile

The line of cars took over an hour to drop everyone off!

ErrolTheDragon · 19/06/2015 20:42

What are Shirleys steak and stilton pies?!
Delicious.Grin

We played cards for a bit but she was evidently tired as I kept beating her. Early night is in order I think. Just as well she didn't want to prom.

spudmasher · 19/06/2015 20:59

Feeling the relief of all you late finishers! Enjoy the moment WineThanks
