Exam season starts....

Thanks mumslife. Hope your DD enjoys last week of school.
Bit tough having 2 papers in one day, but at least 3 clear weeks on the run up to them.

More worried about the lack of sleep and body clock being put out than the loss of just a half day revision. After these 2 AS resits, nothing else till w/c 8 June., then 4 in that week. I think that's the most she has ever had, including GCSE.

JWIM · 17/05/2015 13:42

Re-joining having spent some time in your company last year for AS.

Good luck to all DC doing re-sits as well as A2s.

DD finishes this Thursday - INSET Friday. Her A2s start June 8 and she has two days in the two weeks with 3 exams on both - due to a slightly odd combination of subjects where two are set at the same time. She will have 5.5 hours of exams on the first day and little rest time in between on the day. She is prepared for this and we are planning what food she will take with her to keep her energy up.

Good luck to all for the final 'assault'!

Horsemad · 17/05/2015 17:19

Welcome JWIM, where is your DD hoping to study?

NiceCardigan · 17/05/2015 17:41

Have just been out to do some driving practice with DS as he has his test soon. Now my nerves are completely shredded.

Horsemad · 17/05/2015 19:36

Grin NiceCardigan !! I hate being driven by DS1, luckily he's passed so I don't have to go in the car with him!

circular · 17/05/2015 23:03

I never minded taking DD out driving when she was learning, and did as she was told. Just since she passed, think she knows it all. If I dare to pass comment on her driving she threatens to throw me out th car!

JWIM · 17/05/2015 23:29

Horsemad she has firmed Edinburgh for a 2016 start after a gap year but really wanted a London Uni that rejected her so she may reassess after results and reapply to UCAS.

DD has been driving for a year now and feels free to comment on our driving!

DS falls into the knows it all category. I am ok being in the car with him I just feel I have no control over the situation!

Littleham · 18/05/2015 09:08

DD2's driving test is quite soon. Apparently all will be well as long as the route doesn't include roundabouts. Hmm

Edinburgh is a beautiful city JWIM. What subject does she want to study?

Littleham - that hurricane analogy is brilliant. We haven't reached the eye yet but last Friday I think DS was hit on the side of the head by a large loose plank Sad. The other two exams seem to have gone OK though Smile.

Good luck with the driving test to DD2

Littleham · 18/05/2015 11:17

Oh my goodness Hocus. Your poor ds - I hope he is ok. Did he get concussion?

Wishing him the best of luck in his exams. I think we are all waiting for Fairnuff's rainbow to appear.

OP posts:
muffinmonster · 18/05/2015 11:26

I hope that was a metaphorical plank, Hocus! Shock

HocusUcas · 18/05/2015 11:30

Yes - thank you for your concern Littleham Grin but it was as muffin says a metaphorical unbuttoned down plank in the form of an exam paper. He is staggering on and just hope he is able to get enough extra nails through the other two planks in that subject banged in in time. I have offered rope in the form of testing him on quotations.

Grin That's cheered me up Littleham

Littleham · 18/05/2015 11:34

I'm officially an idiot!

I got the wrong end of the stick plank (my brain is truly frazzled Confused)

OP posts:
HocusUcas · 18/05/2015 11:36

Littleham - you have given me a tonic. I've only got 1 DS doing exams and my brain is no better I can assure you - I think you deserve a medal.

hellsbells99 · 18/05/2015 12:54

Struggling here too (another 'plank head'). DD1 has just said she is only getting an average of B in chem4 past papers (which is supposed to be a lot easier than chem5). I said "you will be fine, you got an A* in your mock", to which she replied "yes but I have just done the same paper and am now getting a B" .......things are definitely going downhill. She messed up the EMPA exams so needs to claw back marks in these papers.
DD2 (year 12) is chilled out and playing her guitar .....only 4 exams this week Confused so a bit more revision might be handy.....
I am working at home today so keeping an eye on things Wink

AmazingDisgrace · 18/05/2015 13:30

Just one exam this week for DD, a History resit of one of her AS papers. Then nothing for 2 weeks then they exams come thick and fast

HocusUcas · 18/05/2015 13:56

Hellsbells , exactly the same here - a strong performance in the next two papers would be great, but that doesn't exactly ease the pressure, does it. On a good day Friday's could have been one of his better papers.According to DS not a "train-weck" but not as good as some of the practice papers he's been doing. We'll see .....

Anyway Good Luck everyone.

Horsemad · 18/05/2015 18:20

DH not amused with DS1 Hmm as he is lazing around in bed and not revising enough. He (DH) is really fed up with him.
PhysicscAS re-sit tomorrow, needs a good result due to poor performance in practical...

Horsemad is that OCR mechanics tomorrow ?

mumslife Hmmm 'Dishy' not a word I've heard used for a few decades lol.

Don't want to temp fate, but been impressed with DD's efforts and consistency since study leave started. Seems like the rest day yesterday (after Saturday late night) fpdine her good. Now hitting A's in the physics resit past papers too. Only hope that all this work on AS will not be at the expense of A2, which I know she has been struggling with.

Good luck once again to all those doing resits this week.

hellsbells99 · 18/05/2015 19:23

I think we are all hoping that the AS resit papers will make up for the marks they drop in the A2 papers!
It does go to show that if they took all the exams at the end of year 13 they would probably do a lot better in those papers that they currently take at the end of year 12.

Horsemad · 18/05/2015 19:40

circular, it's AQA Physics A Unit 1 I think.
