Well done on offers!
Hellsbells, which 3? DS has an interview for chemistry today in Sheffield!

Littleham · 04/11/2014 09:02

Well done to polkadot's dd! Good luck to your son Mindgone. My lot have managed to escape without being interviewed so far!

Thanks MovedSouth for the information (below) on Exeter. Very interesting, I'll relay that to dd.

Giving out tough, early offers to high achievers may be to discourage using them as an insurance, but if 2014 is anything to go by they will be flexible regarding meeting offer grades on results day.

Mindgone - I am sure DD's friend it at Sheffield for chemistry today. Hope it goes well!

AtiaoftheJulii · 04/11/2014 13:58

Hope the interview is going/went well!

polkadottyme · 04/11/2014 19:16

Thank you decorhate, hells bells, mindgone, littleham hope I've not forgotten anyone. We are lucky too, no interviews. I will be thinking of you ladies, dd' and ds who got the dreaded test tomorrow and those who got the interviews. Hope you can get a good nights sleep. Fingers crossed and all the best x

Mindgone · 04/11/2014 20:50

Thanks all! We really had a lovely day in Sheffield today! We were very well looked after, and had a coach tour of the city, plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits all day, and the applicants got free lunch too. There was a separate talk and departmental tour for the parents. I met a lovely lady who's son is also a medicine applicant too, so we had lots to chat about! And all interviewees got offers too, so a great day out!

Best of luck to all DCs with tests and exams tomorrow! Don't envy you one bit, but this time tomorrow it will be a memory! Wine Cake

AtiaoftheJulii · 04/11/2014 21:12

And all interviewees got offers

Fantastic! Well done to your son!
(A nice achievable offer?)

Yay, it's done! Hope she doesn't have to wait too long Smile

webwiz · 04/11/2014 21:25

Well done to your DS Mindgone, it sounds like a well organised day.

Littleham · 04/11/2014 22:18

Hurrah for the offer Mindgone. Great mumslife - that is such a good feeling to get rid of the application isn't it?

Leeds2 · 04/11/2014 22:20

Well done, mini Mindgone.

Mindgone · 04/11/2014 22:24

Thanks! All offers were AAB, so nice to get an offer, it'll be a long time before he gets another, if at all, so good to have one!
Mumslife, great that it's gone, a food feeling! :)

seimum · 04/11/2014 22:24

Well done to everyone with offers so far.
DS's form went off last night, after a last-minute rewrite of the PS to turn it into reasonable English. Just need the school to add their bit now, then we too will be waiting with fingers crossed.

Mindgone · 04/11/2014 22:25

Thanks Leeds2, actually maxi Mindgone! Way taller than me! Grin

AtiaoftheJulii · 04/11/2014 22:27

Oh mindgone he must be very happy with that Smile

seimum it's nice to be able to stop fretting about amendments!

hellsbells99 · 04/11/2014 22:43

Great news Mindgone. DD's friend text her to say she'd had an offer and loved Sheffield. It may have been her mum you were talking to?!

Mindgone · 04/11/2014 22:49

Thanks Atia and Hellsbells! I don't think it was, it was a boy's mum! :)

Horsemad · 04/11/2014 23:39

Well done Mindgone's DS. Smile
DS is sending his form this week - got 6th form application evening for DS2 this week too! My baby! Where has the time gone? Shock Hopefully it will all be a lot less stressful with him.

polkadottyme · 05/11/2014 00:31

Before I go to sleep, well done mindgone its so uplifting to hear each and individual success stories on here. Mumslife and seimum the fun begins! Or agony ?? so to speak. My dd was checking her UCAS track rigourously when she sent hers off 3 weeks ago, she thinks the waiting and anticipation of the outcone is exciting ??don't think she's normal??.

circular · 05/11/2014 07:18

Well done to Mindgones DS.
Fingers crossed for your DD Munslife must be a great relief to get it out if the way.

Hopefully nit too far behind, expecting DD to get her first draft PS looked at this week.

Busy next few weeks, 2 CUKAS auditions, and 2 big performances, all coming up in the space of 2 weeks. Arghhh.

"Giving out tough, early offers to high achievers may be to discourage using them as an insurance, but if 2014 is anything to go by they will be flexible regarding meeting offer grades on results day."

Didn't quite understand this.
Can anyone explain firm and insurance offers to me? Does this mean firm offer are more positive about your app.? Do other unis on list not offer to you?. You get one offer and maybe ask in clearing if results are better than expected? Not sure!!
Please do tell!
