Well done, Mrs B's DD. I visited Warwick with DD and absolutely loved it - the campus is fantastic and the accommodation some of the best we've seen. DD liked it a lot, but at the moment slightly favours Nottingham.

Mumslife - we have been to Cardiff today. DD said interview ok - interviewer was lovely to her apparently.
Polka - we are in Bath tonight ready for DD's interview tomorrow.

AtiaoftheJulii · 12/11/2014 21:18

My twelve year old wants to go to Bath because she loves the town!

MrsBartlet · 12/11/2014 21:19

Thanks all. Warwick is very appealing to dd as it is not as far away as going to York or Durham.

She was very pleased when I told her that it is the best accommodation you have seen MissMillament as she has been particularly worried about ending up somewhere grotty. We have been working on her expectations of student accommodation Grin

Glad your dd got on ok today hellsbells. Good luck to her for tomorrow!

hellsbells99 · 12/11/2014 22:08

Well done MrsB's DD.
DD has just received an offer for Birmingham - without an interview, which we weren't expecting.

Well done on the offer MrsB's DD.

Hope all goes well tomorrow for the interview hellsbells and another well done for her B'ham offer too Smile

polkadottyme · 12/11/2014 22:44

Thanks ladies :) im relieved that dd blind choice of applying to bath uni isnt at all a bad one, i was a bit worried by her choice as it seemed a bit of a stab in the dark hope for the best, but by the sounds of it, Bath sounds an amazing place, rolling hills, tea rooms, very romantic I'm thinking Downton Abbey kind of setting ok im getting carried away with the fairies ??? I think im sold for sure, I hope she gets a offer from them now. Hellsbells tell me more about bath when you get home and had time to rest. I'm intrigued. :)

polkadottyme · 12/11/2014 22:45

Like usual I've forgotten to add:- well done Mrs B

cathyandclaire · 12/11/2014 22:49

Wow well done MrsB I thought Warwick interviewed for English so that is brilliant news.
Loads of luck for Bath Hells and very well done for Brum offer...lots of good news all around!

Mindgone · 12/11/2014 23:13

Hellsbells, well done to your DD! All sounds great for her, best of luck for tomorrow too! Does she have any left to hear from, or is she done after tomorrow?

circular · 13/11/2014 07:04

Well done MrsB to your DD.
Good luck to your DD fir today Hellsbells

November UCAS newsletter referred to a we chat this afternoon, having problems pasting link from phone.

DD still going through PS with school, so doubt anything will go this week.
Final CUKAS audition next week.
I believe the Conservatoires decide by end if December, so in theory could hold into UCAS, (or at least a couple of choices) till then, May make her rethink her high risk strategy if she gets nothing from. CUKAS.

MrsBartlet · 13/11/2014 07:09

Thanks again all and well done to your dd hellsbells on the Brimingham offer.

cathyandclaire - I think Warwick only interview for English if you have non-standard qualifications.

circular · 13/11/2014 07:21

Seeing the mention of Saturday jobs, just wondering how those with p/t jobs are managing to juggle?
DD started 2 this term (totalling 9 hours), plus already had voluntary ongoing since yr11. With all her music commitments, only one
school day when she has nothing at all after school. Something every lunchtime too.

And did your DC mention the part time work in their PS if not relevant to subject?

hellsbells99 · 13/11/2014 07:35

Thanks all of you.
We stayed the night on a Bath campus and it has been a bit noisy!
DD was chatting to a couple of first years last night and 1 of them told her it was a bit boring here and she would have more fun in Manchester or Brum.
DD thought it was very funny and the girl in question was quite tipsy and looked like she was enjoying herself.

AtiaoftheJulii · 13/11/2014 07:44

Wow, busy week hells! Congrats to her on the offer, and hope today goes well :)

Well done MrsB's dd for the Warwick offer - nice to have lots of choices :)

Circular neither of my 6th formers have jobs, although they talk about the idea of them quite a bit .... Anyway, how are the CUKAS auditions going? Friend's dd got an offer on the spot in Glasgow last week - very grateful for the pressure being lifted a bit, although it's not her first choice.

Just catching up - great to hear people's good news!

Mrs B, well done to your DD. She must be feeling really happy to have such good offers.

mumslife, I visited Kent with DD and really liked the campus - very green and leafy, and overlooks Canterbury town centre with a view of the cathedral. Mostly modern buildings - reminded me of my own uni. The course wasn't what DD wanted, though. Shame.

Hellsbells, I bet you'll be glad when this week is done. Best of luck to your DD today. Feeling rather envious of all these people going to pretty towns - DD's top destinations are Glasgow, Birmingham and Swansea.

Circular, no part-time job here so can't offer any advice. It does sound as if your DD has a LOT on her plate, but it shows she's got some real-life skills, including time management. My DD won't contemplate doing anything that might impact on her studies (except the occasional party Hmm), though she would love the extra income.

DD's form went on Tuesday. Despite our misgivings about her tutor, he wrote her a very nice, very positive reference. I thought DD must be one of the last to send her form in, but she says about half her year haven't done so yet, and many are still struggling with their personal statements.

Three acknowledgments so far. As her predictions are not stellar, I'm not expecting offers any time soon. Strathclyde said in their acknowledgment that it's likely nothing will happen until after the 15th Jan UCA deadline. How will I bear the waiting?

RabbitOfNegativeEuphoria · 13/11/2014 09:49

Wonderful to hear all the good news. Well done to all DCs with new offers, fingers crossed for those still waiting.

I don't know how I will cope next year when it's DDs turn without you lot to hand hold! I guess that's just another downside of her taking GCSES early - I haven't been on threads with the parents of her true contemporaries. Sigh.

cathyandclaire · 13/11/2014 09:52

Amazing achievement getting 5 offers Mumslife she is spoilt for choice. My cunning tactic when choosing Uni, many, many years ago was convenience to the train station, I loved my choice but I'm sure there are better ways! Grin

Exciting times Muffin good luck with the waiting! I think I may explode by the time the UCAS deadline comes around. DD will (hopefully) get interviews so not expecting any more offers before Xmas.

Hells it sounds like the Bath students make their own fun!!! ;)

Waitingaround · 13/11/2014 11:05

Ds has offers from Birmingham, Bristol and bath now- but the 2 he really wants have yet to offer, so fingers crossed.
He has a part time job and mentioned it within his ps as a way of demonstrating his ability to balance work, social, hobbies(music commitments) with study, but how much of a difference this makes to the uni's I don't know.
Well done on everyone's offers!!
