I thought I would start this tradition once again while we all wait? DS only sat Trinity...

Bedgers good on you! Ours posts crossed.

Inneedofwine · 31/01/2013 22:31

On third glass of wine now so apologies in advance if I don't make any sense.

Trashpack and Bedgers - why don't you just call them? They wouldn't just not bother sending anything surely? Anything could have happened and there are plenty of people sending you good vibes!

Hi brownsugar. My DS had interview at T today. We spoke to the headmaster (because we asked to(and he was lovely btw)) and he told us that DS was good in two subjects but a lot weaker in third (which was no surprise). He said the interview would play a large part in the decision as to whether he'd be offered a place or not. Sure enough, his interview was basically a test of the weaker subject so we're just hoping that he was able to show he's not as bad as his result implied.

I'm glad it's all done - but think I feel deflated rather than relieved if that makes any sense.

suz742 · 31/01/2013 22:37

Good luck girls, I'll be thinking of you as I head off for a T and W free break x

burntoutdad · 31/01/2013 22:38

stress - how confident where you after the interview?

burntoutdad · 31/01/2013 22:43

last year I meant. and was it different this time around?

Inneedofwine · 31/01/2013 22:43

Bedgers and Trash my post crossed as well - see you're already phoning. Good for you and good luck!

Brownsugar3879 · 31/01/2013 22:52

Everything is crossed for you guys. Please let us know how it goes.
Question: Is it unusual to apply for a boy to get into T or W @ 10+ with no bursary or scholarship application?

Brownsugar3879 · 31/01/2013 23:25

Inneedofwine. I'm glad it's to just me them as this is exactly what happened to us yesterday, & yes its a bit deflating.

burntoutdad · 01/02/2013 07:51

Trash and Bedgers - Good luck to you both with your calls this morning!

Trashpack · 01/02/2013 08:00

Thanks burnt, will let you all know the outcome of the call. Good luck Bedgers!

GETASHLEY · 01/02/2013 08:09

Just a thought and please all dont take take the wrong way as we all deserve a holiday after the last few weeks..... but if W & T staff do read these posts, then if you are going away and asked for bursary then please be careful about holidays and weekends away details that you post on here! I have on good authority that they would expect a bursary applicant to have little or no equity in their home, have no savings, not being taking holidays (even if paid for by other family members!) and even take into account what car you drive!!

As said, I wish us all collectively the best for our DS's but please give some thought, and as said please dont take my post the wrong way!!!

Kylep · 01/02/2013 08:24

Trash bedgers good luck I hope they give you good news

Seeline · 01/02/2013 09:01

InneedofWine and BrownSugar - I don't know if either of you were up at T at around 12.15 yesterday. If you were I was up there collecting my poorly DS and saw a Mum and nervous DS being taken off for an interview Smile
Brown - we applied to both W and T at 10+ last year with no bursary or scholarship application. DS got offers from both, but I don't know how unusual that was - but obviously does happen Smile
Still thinking of you all - I remember the agony of last year. It will be over soon and in the mean time there is always lots of Wine

Shaded · 01/02/2013 09:33

For those that wanted to know - DS has an interview at CLSB. DH snuck out of the house, went to the sorting office this morning and begged for the letter. Am in a state of (happy) shock.

Inneedofwine · 01/02/2013 09:52

Congratulations shaded - that's great!

Seeline we were later in the day - hope your DS is feeling better today. Not feeling great myself today - probably too much Wine last night while I was telling myself that we had always really wanted him to go to T at 11 and that 10+ was only for experience so really it was probably better if it was a no ... and so on...

Kylep · 01/02/2013 10:07

Well done shaded congrats to you and your ds

burntoutdad · 01/02/2013 10:13

Did anyone else here have interview with Mr Y at W?

Brownsugar3879 · 01/02/2013 10:45

Seeline, we were there on Wed afternoon and thanks for that info.
Shaded, congrats.
Trash & Bedgers, good luck. I'm even nervous for you guys but again, good luck.

Doolallyali · 01/02/2013 10:53

Burntout - in answer to your Q to me a couple of days back (sorry busy week at work!), we had Mr L. He was very friendly.

Kylep · 01/02/2013 10:53

We did !!

Kylep · 01/02/2013 10:54
  • sorry meant for burnt we did have mr y
Trashpack · 01/02/2013 11:53

Shaded thats brilliant news...well done to your ds and good luck for the interview! Good on your dh to go to sorting office!

I rang W admissions...very helpful lady told me that they have been going through every single application/exam again to make sure they haven't missed anyone. 900 boys took exam & 600 interviewed....wow, so many interviews!

They are phoning people today and Monday for interviews...but she said it was now very unlikely that ds will be called for interview. I have to say, I feel a huge sense of relief washing over me.

The "not knowing" is much more difficult than the realisation. So, onwards and upwards! Like I said, I'll still be following you all and looking forward to hearing lots of good news on Feb 15th!

I'm concentrating on national offers day-March 1st and hoping (& praying!) ds gets the Catholic Co-ed we love so much Grin

Somelikeithott · 01/02/2013 12:53

Trashpack, I'm sorry to hear that.... My gut instinct wants to tell you to hang on in there, but I know it's tough. You are amazing and whatever happens I know you will ensure your DS is the best he can be.

Shaded, congratulations to your DS, what a brave DH you have, as they say where there's a will, there's a way...

We're officially in the 2 week wait people!

kimalima · 01/02/2013 13:46

Trashpack sorry to hear that... but don't give up hope. I am truly a firm believer in everything happens for a reason and fate. It sound like you have a good back-up alternative.

Does everyone else have good back-ups? I'm guessing it really does depend what borough you reside in, as to great state alternatives. I have also applied for another private school which isn't in such 'heavy' demand but one that really left me with such a warm feeling. But DS still has to get an offer there as well.

Let the countdown begin...

Trashpack · 01/02/2013 13:46

Thanks hott, you are so kind & your words are so eloquent.

I think the 3 weeks of radio silence from W is actually a good idea....the longer it goes on, the less likely you think ds will be successful so you almost get used to the idea of it being a " thanks, but no thanks".

This thread is so brilliant and I love checking and refreshing it to see who else has posted! I actually might have felt very differently about this if it weren't for all the support I've had.

So, 2 weeks and counting for you guys!! I'll be watching and keeping everything crossed for you all xxx
